Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

I actually thought he was alright even when he became Liverpool manager at first but I take your point.

It's not because he's Liverpool manager that he's a wanker, I still liked Woy when he became Liverpool manager and had plenty of time for Roy Evans back in the day (although I was very young but he always struck me as a decent chap). It's how he acts and speaks and the way he's changed as we've become more exposed to him.

I hate the fawning over him in the media when all he does is slag referees off and slag other teams off for not playing the proper way. He just changed from being fairly humorous and harmless to slowly becoming a complete and utter wanker and he gets away with murder because he's just that kooky German bloke that hipsters love.

I can't think of a person that fits the term wanker as well as he does right now.
There is something in the water there. Makes men delirious. I was initially very surprised when I heard the first round of his deluded quotes as Liverpool manager.

Their entire set up is such that managers can become very popular if they give in to the alternate reality that their fans live in on a daily basis. They then go on to feed that same alternate reality with their comments and actions. Meanwhile the rest of the world is totally out of sync with them.

What were your views of him prior to him becoming Liverpool manager?

Weird because I thought he was pretty much universally loved on these forums in the Dortmund days. It's ridiculous to think people change their minds about his personality/character etc purely because of his Liverpool association.

His antics were just as cringey and he would come up with the most self-righteous quotes all the time. The difference is, as fans who mostly follow the PL we would only get snippets here and there whereas now we get to see him and hear from him all the time.

Tbf though, his Dortmund side were incredible to watch. Him as a person though? Always been a cringeworthy and annoying character.

I think that the collapse at Palace would've still happened even if we'd not been chasing a ridiculous goal difference dream.

I really really doubt that, sounds a little bit like you're trying to spare Gerrard the weight of the lost title.

If I wanted to do that I'd try to point to the defeat at City or Hull or the home defeat to Southampton. A win in any one of those games would've won us the league.

Ultimately, Gerrard will be remembered as the reason we didn't win the league.

I'm basing my opinion on the idea that we didn't know how to sit back and defend that season. I think that the collapse at Palace would've still happened even if we'd not been chasing a ridiculous goal difference dream.
You didn't need to sit back and hold on vs some decent team. It was 3-0 vs Crystal Palace with 15 mins left or something like that. Even when you conceded the first goal Liverpool went for the attack and left themselves open because they were chasing goal difference. No way would you played the same if it just required a win.

Which is a load of bollocks of course considering he scored 13 PL goals that season & god knows how many assists. We never won the league for the simple reason one team achieved more points than us over the course of the season. It's like saying that Andy Cole cost United the title in 1995 because he had an off day in the final match against West Ham. Which would be another load of bollocks.

I can't quite remember but I'm sure a large a number of those 13 goals were penalties. Also, in my opinion the reason that it will be remembered as Gerard costing Liverpool the league is because he was Mr Liverpool, fell over and gifted Ba the goal, it was hilarious and will be permanently anchored in football lore, by contrast, Andy Cole missing some chances against West Ham isn't funny or as close to being memorable.

You can argue Gerard did not cost you lot the league, but by God it will be remembered that he did.

Edit: I say this as a neutral who really liked Gerard.

I used to be a Klopp fan and wanted him here at United for a while. Pretty happy with how things turned out.

His personality is one thing, hardly surprising that United fans now find him less than endearing. What I don’t understand, however, is some people’s need to downplay his achievements with Dortmund. They were - as many have said - great to watch and the results were quite brilliant too.

It’s all too typical that he’s now turned into a “fraud”, or that he’s been “found out”, because he’s been unable to continue on that high note. Perhaps he’ll never get close to it again - but that doesn’t mean his achievements at the time were fraudulent (or coincidental). He was a great fit at Dortmund and did extremely well for several seasons.

It's not many though, just 10 penalties out of 13.

Outwitted by shakespeare :lol: Damn, it cracks me up every single time :lol::lol:

Gerrard: This doesn't fecking slip now
Also Gerrard: [slips]

He played a huge part in getting Liverpool in a position to win the league.

But its just silly to deny that he played a massive part in their failure to finish the job.Liverpool fans will deny it now but that Chelsea game was basically seen as your coronation game, especially in the back of 11 straight wins and Jose's weakened team.

Still gives me shudders to think how close they were to clinching the league. And I was lucky enough to see the slip live because I had stopped watching their games till then, when they were on that long winning streak that seemed to never end.

Not Gerrard's fault?

Poll any non-liverpool football forum and a majority of them will point that it's his fault they lost the title.

Some Liverpool fans are in serious denial.

Even Gerrard himself admits that the slip cost him the title.

Gerrard's performance in that game did cost them the title in the end but it was less the slip and more his reaction to it. He completely lost his head and spent the rest of the game wasting good attacking opportunities by taking ridiculous shots trying to get them back in the game single handedly.

Still, the slip is much funnier so let's stick with that.

The slip, and crystanbull.

My two favorite memories of watching liverpool.

Edit:

Back on topic, I though klopp was an arse well before he pitched up at anfield. Not sure how anyone can see the clip of him foaming at the mouth to the 4th official and think he is anything else to be honest.

Did he mention the offside goal against United in his press conference yesterday? I think that was what caused Liverpool to lose 3-1 to Leicester

It's all results linked though. If Liverpool were winning his crazy antics and odd facial expressions would be lauded by all which was the case earlier in the season. Now they're in poor form he looks like a fool and his reactions magnify it.

He's not that much different to Conte, results aside.

Will Liverpool fans see 5th or 6th place at the end of the season as a sign of progress under Klopp?

Didn't Klopp go public at the start of the season saying something along the lines of "this is my team, no excuses, I'm happy with my squad". Now I read he wants up to 6 new players and he doesn't think that he will be on a restricted budget.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/03/liverpool-jurgen-klopp-spend-transfers-summer

I think he's recouped on sales pretty much what he's spent since he took over, so there should be significant funds made available for him in the summer. The problem is getting the players he really needs, such as a dominant midfielder that can control a game. A couple of no-nonsense defenders should be high on his list too. He's obviously realized there's a mentality problem rather than a quality problem within the squad. That's why we're top of the H2H's league table for the top 6. It's those pesky blighters in the lower half of the table that need addressing for next season.

Quick out the blocks is what I'm expecting today. Kill Arse early.

Credit where it's due again, that is some record vs the big teams.

However I only care for opinions of LFC fans who were here when it was going sour.

I'm not going to get carried away. If we can't do that against the minnows of the league then it's all for nothing.

I am so angry right now. Why cant we do this against smaller teams?
