Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Its quite telling how little we've belittled Utd/Pogba for that stunt. Imagine Suarez, Gerrard or even Firmino pulling something like that when we were on a run of 9 wins and then Utd crashing our juggernaut at Anfield. The green smilies would be out in force.

For us its just a little, "Pogba, hehehe. #OverpricedTwat" and that's it.

You didn't crash anything at Old Trafford. You were lucky to hold on to a point with United still unbeaten in 16 games..

Pogba has been great this season. Yesterday he had a bad game. Big deal. He's a young player with plenty to learn. I expect him to bounce right back with a point to prove. I'm not sure why you all obsess over the guy.

No I'm just saying the tactics we applied at the end allowed you to finally create something. It was our own fault as we gave away the silly penalty so you had something to hold on to.

As it was from the off you didn't test DDG once and we cut you apart frequently.
Haha - yeah right. If you say so :D

They were more disciplined and composed, looked like more "squad"

We suffered a lot their pressing, in particular Can, and Firmino on Carrick

We started too much behind our backs

This game was lost, Rooney and Fellaini in the last 20 mins saved the match.

That's a very ''Free the Weatherfield One'' photograph is that.

its so funny that Mourinho is getting to him without even trying lol

There's some hilarious hyperbole going on here, from both sides. A draw was a fair result in my opinion. Herrera's yellow was justified. Calling it vile is way over the top. It did not damage to firmino, apart from his shirt which is the only thing "vile" about it.
Pogba had a nightmare. Excusing it because of his age is stupid. He is plenty experienced to not lose his shit. He needs to grow up fast.
Those moaning about Klopp are completely overreacting as well. Managers always see things myopically when it comes to their own team. Jose does it too. Hypocritical to be so upset by it.
With the team we had out yesterday, compared to theirs we should have won.
The comfort to take from it is that we weren't beaten and that Liverpool won't catch Chelsea because they simply aren't quite good enough.
We've some very winnable games coming up to focus on. Onwards we go!

Not trying to crash the Klopp-bashing-party here but the only relevant figures regarding the long ball, uhm, "issue" – are percentages.

Cross-calculating the numbers on these two pages' statistics result in pretty much a wash between us and Liverpool:

https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_long_balls
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_pass

Result:
United ~ 11.85%
Liverpool ~ 11.22%

Feel free to delve even deeper into this, perhaps including back passes as well, who knows what other mysterious findings you'll stumble upon.

That being said, long passing is equally essential to the sport of football as short passing is, and Klopp's familiar whining is starting to escalate to the point of being annoying. So much drama when he misses out on 3 points. Some times, even after a win.

His way of playing football is the best, other teams can't play blablabla… rinse and repeat!

I found it interesting that Klopp wouldn't go toe to toe with us.

Lallana man marking Carrick and adopting the diamond showed he was beyond wary of our capabilities despite the resident scouse of the forum stating if we dare try and play our own game against theirs they would destroy us. Klopp didn't seem to agree nor fancy it.

You did it from the off and got lucky with a penalty.
Players blatantly pull shirts to stop the counter all the time, it was no different yesterday when Herrera took one for the team. Firmino's reaction was stupid and on another day he would've walked for it.
[/QUOTE]I thought Firmino was just emotional .. had he got away we were 3 on 2 and favourites to score and he knew it. Herrera did what I'd want a Liverpool player to do in the same situation .. stop the attack in whatever manner possible. It's not fair and punishment should follow but no one wants to see their team lose and football fans are not noted for their unprejudiced behaviour. Herrera should not have clutched his face though .. I'd like to see that kind of behaviour retrospectively red-carded in future (when video comes in), that would soon put a stop to it.

Apparently they don't count if you're utter shite at them.
It's true though, we only ever get flak for it whenever we bring on Fellaini and it actually pays off, and it immedaitely triggers all the ABUs. That was a great clip.

Any pool fans saying that are twats. I agree with the cautious/defensive nature Klopp took. I saw the lineup going into the game and thought it could end 3-1 United.

Coutinho on bench just returning from injury, Henderson first game back from injury and thrown straight into the XI. No clyne, no Manè, no Matip. Less than capable back up in Trent.

What fan goes into a game against United knowing the above and is not only confident? But has the nerve to critisise United saying if they played properly we would have won?

The point is more than welcome for us. More than welcome.

In other news... what the hell is going on with the Matip situation?

Meh. Both got a yellow for that incident. I thought that was a fair outcome.

You want Herrera to be sent off retrospectively for reacting the way he did? I can think of a particular player who'd have missed plenty of games in the season you came closest to winning the title if that came to pass.

Had a Liverpool fan at work taking the piss because it finished 1-1...reminded him that it finished 0-0 first leg he answers with yes but we score so we win on away goals...

So Cameroon are just being babies and sulking because Matip wouldn't play. Now they don't want to talk to us to clarify if he can play club football.

Great. You can bet your ass the second he plays Cameroon will come out and be like "woah woah woah, we didn't authorise this"

This about sums it up for me......Herrera shirt pulling was just a professional foul and therefore a yellow, 'took one for the team' and all that......but Herrera then holding his face like Firmino had scratched his eyes out was poor from all perspectives other than the most jaundiced of supporters whatever their allegiance.

Obviously not as that is what transpired, presumably under Klopp's instruction.

It's interesting that you claim the LFC fans on the forum stated that Liverpool would 'destroy' you........from what I read, I thought it was more the United fans who were suggesting this........but I am prepared to be proven wrong, of course.

I'm on a bit of a RAWK defence of Herrera here, but his hands go to his face 'momentarily' as we clearly see here. Then he takes them away & I think stands up to remonstrate with the violent Brazilian does he not?

It's a complete non-incident. Either they both get yellow or maybe they both get red. Only in an Anfield dreamworld might Herrera be getting a red & then Firmino just a yellow isn't it?

But no, the narrative is that Herrera dived & tried to get the opponent sent off after committing a despicable foul (how far out?) as well. Are folk not missing that Firmino pushed him over using both hands? I do think Herrera thought about milking it as much as possible but he didn't really actually do that.

Klopp is talking absolute bollocks (again). The Anfield faithful are lapping it up. Jurgen knows what he is doing and/or has been brainwashed by drinking the water.

Can you show me the stats that show these offside goals?
Actually the stat I saw was this :

Manchester Utd have scored 7 offside goals in their last 5 Old Trafford games. They would be in the bottom half of the table without them.

Now I don't know where that originated (Twatter I'd imagine) or whether there's any truth to it ... but I hope there is because I'll be using it in future if there is :D More than likely it's an inflated figure and BS though.

I've heard the same. Dont know about the 'would be in the bottom half of the table' bit. But you have had a lot of offside goals.

It's alright though FA are on your side. They'll let it slip. :p:D

I didn't say that. I said that in future I'd want all players who put their hands to their face (and let me expand .. roll around feigning facial injury) given retrospective 3 match bans (straight reds). It would stop that shit overnight. FIFA need to be stronger in many areas of the rules.

Personally I'd have given them both red !!

Why would Herrera put his hands to his face at all, if he was pushed in the chest?

And he still had his hands on his face after he hit the deck.........enough to attempt to influence the referee IMHO

Defo not a dive though, he was pushed quite Firmnoly! And Bobby could well have seen red, after seeing red as it were.

Gotta be said though your posts give me a decent chuckle @montpelier......even if you are giving LFC grief :nervous:

That's about the best assessment so far.

I haven't really said my bit about the game (just been generally, and understandably, wumming :p ). But my thoughts:

1. I would have snapped your arm and shoulder off for a draw before kickoff. Even when we scored I was hoping it would be enough to hold on for a draw (a win would be nice obviously but I wanted to manage expectations). On balance, and despite what my fellow fans and Klopp are saying, we were definitely lucky with just a draw.

2. I wish Klopp would stop talking about long balls and deserving to win against a long ball team. Its making him look silly, even if it may be mind games (which I don't think it is as there is no point). Mourinho on the other hand has surprised me, I was expecting a lot more histrionics and comments other than us 'being defensive'. Maybe he's letting Klopp continue digging while no one questions Utd still being 6th.

3. The players I feared before kickoff were Mata (really clever player, loves scoring against us), Rashford (crazy legs pace and composed assisting) and Fellaini (clever movement to win headers inside and outside the box). One cost us the win (Fellaini), one didn't play and one came on when the game went long ball. It could have been worse for us so maybe a mistake there by Mourinho.

4. Utd will win a lot of games with the players they have as long they are not pressed. This will be particularly useful as they have a long run of easy games coming up in which they will definitely not be pressed.

vs Hull 2-0
the first goal if you wanna be harsh sure, he could have been adjudged offside but personally i have seen it time and again and i dont think it is

vs Reading 4-0

vs Boro 2-1
None of the 2 goals are off (remember we had a goal disallowed for a foul)

vs sunderland 3-1
the mkhi goal was off yes. other 2 valid goals.

vs Spurs 1-0
goal wasnt offside

maybe 1 goal out of this (2 including the Pool game though that was a move that was way later the call so it wasnt like you were robbed or anything).

Thanks for your research and links. I have no idea which matches they are referring to .. I just like the stat :D

I don't think either side played well enough to deserve the win. Not sure who had the better chances, really. Utd applied most (incoherent) pressure. LFC had the better controlled possession.

LFC press was mainly defensive, they pushed up only after they had funnelled back behind the ball first, for me. It worked quite well, Utd were slow in etti the ball forward for the first 45-60mins & with Rojo & Phil Jones at CB, your build up is likely to be a little bit ponderous, because they basically have to give it to someone else.

I didn't think Utd were going to score yesterday, even the goal seemed to take forever to find its way in.

1-1 is fine for us, we aren't coming with any late League-winning surge I don't think, :wenger:. But LFC are definitely in with a chance if they can get out of this mini slump & don't lose to Chelsea at Anfield.

10 Home games, 7 Aways left for LFC I believe, :(.

And only City away left out of the Top 6 .. with no Euro distractions.

I'll ditto what another poster said above. I enjoy your entertaining posts - even when you have a dig at Liverpool it's usually still funny !

Why focus on the WUM-esque parts of my post, rather than the actual argument though? Don't have the courage to come out and admit the coverage of the match was poor?

That's how the footballing media would've seen that tackle if it were a foreign player tackling Milner, and the fact they've focused on Bobby's reaction like it's a strange thing to be pissed off about a cynical foul is also quite strange.

My point was, MOTD painted the match like a one-sided affair where United dominated for prolonged periods while our players were getting frustrated and defended for 90 minutes, which then also made Klopp's comments about us playing well seem like something out of a Hodgson press conference.
Then Phil Neville went on about how Lallana was the key to stopping Carrick, whom he also branded United's best/key player, even though his first name isn't Zlatan, neither is his last name Ibrahimovic, all the while providing zero proof for his "analysis", and showing clear lack of any knowledge of how we play football.

Weird how you didn't highlight that part of my post, nor try to address those points. Strange.
Wasn't much to highlight regarding you lot as you didn't really try to play yesterday.

The sooner technology is introduced into football and reduces the amount of offside goals the better (not saying this because of the Utd stat - we get our share at times too).

It is a massive flaw in the game. Every weekend, in all the big leagues there are always incidents with offside "goals" being given and vice versa (players making runs and being given off when they are miles onside). Its a fecking lottery at times.

Have I mentioned before how much I like your logical, relatively unbiased, posts ? If I haven't I am doing so now.

For feck sake man shut up!! You'll get me in trouble. Already been accused a few times of being a closet scouser by some paranoid twat on here. :nono:

Was hyper as feck yesterday during game. Mrs was out and I was minding my small fella. I was so engrossed in the game that I never noticed him climb over the back of the couch. Next thing I hear him roaring on the floor. He just bumped himself, no damage done, but at that point the game went to live pause for 15 mins while I calmed him down.

Dawned on me then. I'm nearly 35 years old. Probably even older than the ref yesterday. No point losing ones shit over 22 millionaires kicking a ball around.
( I'm going to the local for matches in future!!):D:D
