Julen Lopetegui watch

And? Wtf you think he’s been doing while the club seasons going? Sitting on his thumb? The only thing he probably had to do at that point was maybe pick his XI based on training.

You, Madrid and Lopetegui clearly have no idea what professionalism means if you think what he did was alright.

Makes it worse doesn’t it. Instead of focusing on his current job, he was busy negotiating his next job. It’s not like it’s a lull period, it’s literally days before the World Cup.
Before Euro, Conte negotiated with Chelsea, Before WC 2014, LVG negotiated with Man utd, In the thick of the season Mou negotiated with Chelsea, Madrid, Pep negotiated with City

That's how most coaches do

Last few months have been a proper fall from grace for this bloke.

"He tells us @jrdelamorena that Real Madrid is thinking of changing coaches; tomorrow they will make a decision"

Fcuking hell.

And here we are 'thinking' about whether to sack shitcoat.

I don´t think they´ll sack him tomorrow. De la Morena is friend of Florentino. It looks more like a balloon probe to see reactions.

No way he gets fired now, they’re 2 points off first. If Barcelona had a normal start to the season he’d probably be gone though

700 minutes without a goal? Quite clearly something isn't right. Better to be proactive than to react when all hope is dead.

It’s more complicated than that. Lopetegui pretty much lost the World Cup for this job and he has injuries to key players to hide behind too.

Perez is known to be ruthless but even for him this would be crazy.

I admire Madrid and the ruthlessness they have that a top club needs. They don’t waste time. No need to wait to “give the manager a chance to turn things around” when you can see it isn’t working.

I mixed up the numbers. It's 70+ shots and about 450 minutes without a goal. They're approaching peak LVG.

Madrid have gone 409 minutes without a goal.

United under Van Gaal biggest streak without a goal was 404 minutes. Rooney ended the streak with a goal vs CSKA.

Poor RM. Must be difficult times, what being the triple reigning CL champions and two points of 1st in the league.

I think Lopetegui is done, and will be sacked sooner than later. I see a lot of madridistas asking Guti as solution, as he's so boor, so Mourinho, so iron fist, and they think the stage of talkative coaches is done in the neverending Real Madrid cycle of "falcons vs. doves" coaches. I personally don't think it would be a good solution, because Real Madrid players are such a bunch of narcissist self-assured brats right now thanks to how much they have won this decade -even in the World Cups as national team players- the key players can't have a "Guti" either, Zidane worked because he was fricking Zidane, he won everything and he's remembered as a big name in football history, his ascendancy is simply brutal, but these current players have won more than Guti in his entire career, plus Guti was always a #12 player, a player who could have been more than he was if he stayed focused on football and not on parties, he's not a star remembered for playing 10 years in a row as first choice player. If I were any of them, I would be saying, "Who the F is Guti, what the F he won compared to me? Wasn't he an eternal sub?".

Solutions? There isn't any decent international coach available. Former Real Madrid players? There aren't so many names. Who are they going to hire, Michel? Don't make me laugh. But then I realized something: Raul. He's at the club right now with a ghost job as ambassador or whatever, he's a Real Madrid legend, and I'm sure he would kill to take the job.

I can't think of anyone else with that "glamour" Florentino loves, saving his face with a popular name.

They can have Hierro replace Lopetegui again.

Lopetegui the biggest loser here. Guided Spain to the WC finals, acted unethically, lost the Spain job before WC.

And now about to get sacked in October. No big club would touch him now.

What if, and I am just putting it out there, Florentino goes back to Jose? By all accounts their relationship is still good and it would solve two problems at once :-)

He won't survive even a full season. Will be sacked by December.

My post when he was appointed. Seems I was even more optimistic regarding him.

Side note: best thing that will happen once Mourinho leaves is I'll finally be able to enter any thread and not see it turns to Mourinho borefest with some hitting at the club.
