Juan Mata

I think he did very well at the start of the season, after those Inter matches though he didn't do much in the league. Players like Pastore aren't rated so highly on what they've achieved so far but the talent people see in them, which imo is above Bale's in terms of intelligence, passing, control. I don't know too much about Sanchez myself.

Maybe they do have better touch, passing and control.

But the skills Bale has in terms of pace, power and final delivery can be just as useful as he proved on occaision last season.

Yes you were. You were suggesting that flash-in-the-pan Bale is a better player than the likes of Silva or Mata who have performed well for several seasons.

I wasn't.

I said that I didnt think that he was underrated and that he had, in my opinion, shown enough to be considered as a top young player a la Sanchez and Pastore.

For the record I happen to think that Mata and Silva (who incidentally I didn't mention at all) are also very good players.

As for Bale, he looks like being the player Walcott could have been. Flash iin the pan? - Maybe, we'll see next season, but I reckon most Arsenal fans would have him in a heartbeat.

Guillem Balague:

Spurs tried to get him but he only wanted to go to Arsenal or Barcelona. Without Cesc money, Arsenal didnt want 2 pay.Now he costs 60m euros

Mata's clause to sign player cheaper (20-23m euros) finished yesterday. Clubs agreed fee, player happy to go but money didnt arrive...

If this farce is true, there are going to be some serious rumblings down the Emirates. Even the fair weather women and kids supporters were booing on Sunday.

It is just so wenger.

What I find astounding is quite how they can raise season ticket prices so easily but struggle so intensely when it comes to signing players from a pot of money they admit is there. Mark my words - Gervinho was our last signing this season.

I can't believe Arsenal would let him go like that if they really wanted him. I mean, it's pretty obvious they're going to get a big cheque in the next few weeks which would more than cover Mata's signing. Unless they really are going to hold out for their price on Fabregas. In which case it's a big risk, given that it might go down to the last day or two of the window.

I still don't get why we can't sign a player to add to the ones we already have at the club. Spending £20m on a player, Mata or whoever, should not have to be supported by selling someone for a similar fee. We have £20m in the bank, at least.

Surely talking out of his arse?

If Arsenal wanted him they'd surely have had it all wrapped up now.

Perhaps his agent trying to get him a move to one of Spain's big boys or a pay rise at Valencia.

Let's not forget, Wenger baulked at paying an extra 500k for Alonso when he had the chance.

It fits perfectly with his stingy nature.

He also said he missed out on Ronaldo because of "a few hundred thousand"

Never had a cheap clause. Buyout was always 60 million euros. Ballague probably finally got the information he was passing on incorrect info and had to come up with a story

@SkyGraemeBailey

Juan Mata's father says Valencia rejected Arsenal's offer for the Spain international. Staying with Valencia now looks most likely option.

Normally I'd say gulliem was talking crap, but I can wholly see wenger doing something like this.

No chance really. Mata's father has said Arsenal's bid was rejected but he expects them to come back with another offer but it looks like Mata will be staying at Valencia. He also went on to say that Inter are interested and suggested that Mata would favour a move there

Apparently reports are coming in that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Valencia to sign Mata.

Only one bullshitter on twitter is saying that.

Yes I'm sure Liverpool have signed Mata just like Arsenal did

Liverpool have too many options in midfield and attack to go spending £25 million or more on Mata

Suarez/Carroll

Downing---------------Mata----------------Kuyt

Adam/Lucas------------------Henderson

Alright, not a word of this on the valencia sites I visit. Mata's motives for leaving a side where he's sub captain, in the champions league and was given a new contract a few months ago to sign for a team not in the champions league remains questionable. Valencia open to the idea of selling him for 24 million euros when he's a £25 million + player also very questionable.

Alright I call bullshit on it

Mata isn't going to Liverpool before Nasri/Fabregas is resolved and he sees if he can go to Arsenal.

With the current situation both Liverpool and Arsenal are in, I would not be surprised if he picked Liverpool over you guys.
