Juan Mata

I don't want Mata to join another PL club. He is a quality player..

I'm sure a huge offer would change anyone's mind, but clearly the current plan is for him to stay

just like Poulsen wasn't signed to replace Mascherano.

....

Ouch, too soon. We signed Poulsen to replace Mascherano. Still hurts.

Or Suarez to replace Torres. Even he was under the impression he was going there to play next to him

The thing is, even though Piatti and Mata play many of the same positions, Piatti doesnt bring the main thing Mata brings to the table. Mata is a creative passer, thats arguably what Piatti lacks to be a top young talent and to make the "new Messi" tag more apt.

He's very fast, has a similar style to Messi and he can score a goal with either foot but his passing game is very basic whereas Mata is a real creative force.

Plus they've already said he's replacing someone, just not Mata. He's Joaquin's replacement which suggests he'll be playing on the wing next season, not as a lone striker like he was at Almeria last season

No Offer For Mata

In addition to Llorente’s statements on Cadena SER yesterday, Juan Mata Sr. has stated that he has not received any calls.

Yesterday, the rumours about Juan Mata’s future were given an emphatic response from both the president of the club and the player’s agent.

Juan Mata Sr. stated that “no-one has gotten in contact about him,” and therefore, “there are no offers.”

Furthermore, speaking as the fixture draw was made, Manuel Llorente stated that “Juan Mata is staying.” The president is convinced that Mata will stay because the club’s improving financial situation means that there is no longer a necessity to sell.

With all four captains leaving this Summer, Juan Mata is also been considered as one of the new captains for this new project at Valencia.

Thats that then

Thats that then

Exactly, that's that.

But then there's this:

Valencia winger Juan Mata is wanted by clubs outside Spain, his father and agent has confirmed.

Mata is understood to be attracting strong interest from Arsenal, while Liverpool are also believed to be keen on the Spain international.

The talented winger, who helped his country to Under-21 glory in the European Championships this summer having previously been part of the senior squad which clinched World Cup glory in South Africa, is under contract until 2015.

But he has been tipped for a move away from the Mestalla this summer with Real Madrid and Barcelona both believed to be monitoring his situation.

Mata has admitted he is not looking to leave Los Che, who will be playing UEFA Champions League football next season, but it has now been revealed that tentative approaches have been made.

Mata's father, Juan senior, admitted that Valencia will now decide whether to part with the gifted youngster, who is currently on a break after his international commitments.

He is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror: "There have been calls from foreign clubs - but now the final decisions rests with Valencia and he is on his holidays."

Interesting selection of parts to put in bold. Why not:

"Mata has admitted he is not looking to leave Los Che" or

"the final decisions rests with Valencia" (who have said he is staying)

?

How credible are Sporting Life? Quick search tells me they are a part of the 365 media group - which isn't all that great to be fair.

Definitely don't want to see him at Liverpool or Arsenal.

Quality player everytime I've seen him.

Liverpool should hurry the feck up and pay 19 million for the world beater that is Stewie Downing.

Valencia president Manuel Llorente insists Juan Mata is "not for sale".

Mata was part of the Spain squad which sealed a first World Cup triumph exactly a year ago and starred for their Under-21 side in their recent European Championship victory.

Several Premier League sides are thought to be interested in the 23-year-old, who would cost around 20million euros, but Valencia are adamant he will not be leaving the Mestalla.

"We have no intention of selling and we have not received any formal offers for the player," Llorente told Valencia-based sports daily Superdeporte.

"The news that has appeared in the papers is nothing more than speculation - Juan Mata is not for sale."

Lllorente says Valencia will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer, not weaken it.

"Our plan this summer is to make our squad better and our priority at the moment is to bring in a central defender," he said.

Valencia signed Almeria forward Pablo Piatti last week, but the Argentinian is seen as a replacement for Joaquin, who has joined Malaga.

He is going to cost around the same region as Nasri, so I d rather have a player who is versatile and can play in central midfield.

I wish we'd went for the more skillful, tons of time on the ball spanish type of wide player instead of knock it forward and run head down and cross english type but you can't always get what you want.

We, in fact, need a central mid-fielder who could play wide too.

We're a counter-attacking side though, and play round directness from the wings?

I would prefer him over Sneijder, he can play in the mid too, this guy is a genius.

Who is this "English type" you refer to? Because you didn't even come close to describing Ashley Young just there. Have you ever seen him play?

Don't mind me, I just really wanted something different for our attack and I'm just muppeting around.
I've seen Young play and I'm sure he'll be useful. He just seems to me a bit of a Lennon/Walcot/SWP type that imo can't give us anything different against top oppositions that we haven't already got/tried.

i hear we are looking at this guy, is he a winger, great exactly what we need

feck it, fergie sign him up!

Can't really be described as a winger (or at least what a winger is in my mind) but he mostly plays out wide yes. I believe he has played behind the striker effectively as well. I really like him, and would be in full muppet mode if anything were to come of it despite him not being what we need. Can't see it happening.

Emery - Mata could go | Sky Sports | Football | Primera Division | News

Valencia head coach Unai Emery admits the club will struggle to retain Spain forward Juan Mata if the club receive a big-money offer for his services.

Los Che are keen for the 23-year-old to remain at La Mestalla and he also wants to stay, however, their finances are likely to play a huge role in the decision.

A host of Premier League clubs are being linked with the talented attacker with Arsenal and Liverpoolvery keen, while Manchester City and Tottenham are also said to be interested.

Mata, who has been capped 11 times by the senior Spain side and led their Under-21s to European Championship glory earlier this summer, claims he is happy at Valencia and focused on helping the team win trophies.

"Valencia has to be prepared for a footballer having to leave, either because is he is not wanted or because some big club wants to sign him," Emery told Cadena Copa.

"We want him to stay and Mata has also expressed his wish to remain at Valencia, but we know that if a big-money offer comes in from any club and it's good for both the player and the club, it could lead to his exit."

reports today suggest he is close to joining arsenal.

Same as every other day for the past month or so

Valencia are almost set on keeping him, with the only way he leaves being money offered thats too good to turn down

Arsenal arent the club for that. If it was City it'd be more likely

What is this rubbish rumour going around that his Release clause is 15-20M Euro's? That's complete rubbish I am sure of it.. He signed a new contract just a season or 2 ago.. There is no chance he has a release clause that is so low..

Mata signed his new contract on 24th of Jan this year, through till 30th June 2014

No chance of a release clause thats reasonable

I also expect he'll be Valencia captain next season, so dont expect cheap deals

Had this response from a valencia fansite

As far as i could gather:

Mata has a special clause, his is clubs from anywhere can release him for 25M Euros, and Valencia has to let him go or raise his wages. Second the payment must be all up front.

I hope this isnt true. Sounds like a terrible clause to me and also makes me wonder why we havent been chasing him. £21 million has been a great price for Mata since Jan, if that clause is correct.

There's also the issue that Mata had to wait a long time, maybe a year or so, on a promise from Valencia that they would reward him with a new contract. With their money issues it was hard to find a right time to do that. But eventually it was done. At this point the financial situation is better and Valencia have money to spend still, but I imagine they'll find it tough to offer him significantly more in wages if they need to do so to keep him.

20 million for Stewart Downing....18m for Mata.

If its any lower than the £21 million up front, I'm pretty sure that Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool wouldnt be the best clubs after him.

Any club would take him at £15 million

Manuel Llorente has reiterated on several occasions to try to convince not to leave Mata of Valencia. The player has extended his contract at the end of last season and signed a buyout clause of 60 million. However, the club pledged to listen to offers as long as these were succulent for both parties.

El culebrn Cesc engulle a Mata - Valencia CF

A £52 million buyout clause sounds a lot more likely given that basically every player in la liga has an over the top amount like that written into their contract
