Juan Mata

He has a lot to his game and can produce in the final third to the expectations of a top club

The only drawback is that he's lightweight, but being the clever player with quick feet that he is I'm sure it wont stop him

He's about as lightweight as Silva & Messi, they do alright.

He doesn't really look like a winger to me, looks more a Silva like player cutting inside and looking to create. He's looked very good for Spain u21s when he's been central, lovely weight of pass and great vision.
 
He's been developed more into a player who comes inside or plays in the hole in the past season for Valencia.

But a couple of seasons ago he played as a proper wide winger and was Valencia's main supply to create goals at that time. Since then he's added to his game but this shows he can do it, he just hasnt been asked to play that wide in recent times

As he is now, he's very dangerous pulling left, coming into the middle or even pulling onto the right. He has a pass or cross from every situation and can get you a goal too
 
Doesn't Mata, he won't move, well, it's unlikely. Judging his technical abilities, he might be the Juan player we're missing when it comes to creativity in the middle of the park.

Very interesting to see that when Spain were desperate for a goal today, they put Mata into Ander Herrera's position as the most advanced of a midfield 3 and playing against a powerful, tough and dogged, albeit under 21 Belarous midfield he's arguably been better in central midfield than any of Spain's players today. I havent seen him play that role for Valencia before, but this is encouraging and suggests he could already play there to a good level

Plus i don't see why we can't sign Mata aswell as Young they are both Versatile along the frontline, plus we haven't got a left footer than can operate on the wing bar Giggs.
 
its more bs, Jeffren is being used in the Sanchez bid. And £15 million for their most important player last season, who is currently the star of an international tournament and signed a new contract just months ago?

Might have to pay almost double that

At Valencia he started off as a second striker, then was converted to play left wing. Last season he played in the hole behind a striker and he's currently playing for Spain under 21s on the right wing

So he can basically play any attacking role except leading the line. And he even did a good job today as a midfielder in a 3 man midfield. He's very versatile and very intelligent in his play

Having said all that, if we do indeed sign Young then I cannot see a space for him

Played well in the U21s game against Switzerland. That's really the only time I've had a good look at him though, so I'm not going to demand we throw our chequebook at Valencia.
 
This will be the most pointless signing Wenger will ever make unless they have to offload one of Arshavin or Nasri. They don't need a player like Mata at all
