Done deal - will be interesting where he fits in with Rasmus as they both seem pretty similar.

best of luck and hopefully rvn can help him score some goals!

The prevailing opinion is actually the opposite, which is probably why we've signed him.

Nice - that's one position done. Assuming the £50m net spend budget we have for this summer is just for actual cashflow? So if we are paying just over €40m over a 3-year period, then this should reduce our £50m budget by £11m?

More likely that the 50m is PSR headroom. So it’ll be just over 40m euros amortised over the length of his contract. 5 years. So likely around 6.5-7m out of our budget for this year.

First signing under a proper football structure. Hope this signing will fit in the style of play we want and no more square peg in a round hole like under bloody Murtough

Please can someone flight track.

The planes to Manchester airport from Europe usually go over my house and I can see them from my garden. Saw Hojlund's last year.

And yes, I'm sad.

Good fee for a non-established but presumably high potential player.

I rewatched Ruuds highlights for PSV a few nights ago for the first time in years. He was already on a different planet to any current central striker who isn't named Haaland. I think you could see the same with Suarez in the Dutch league, just a total nuisance who would get you all kinds of goals and crazy finishes. I think this guy gets more assists next season than Rashford or Garnacho and is a nuisance in the box but he’s far from lethal in front of goal. Another playmaker with a few goals in him and I think we badly need that. We need the physicality too.
Ruud was already 25 when he left PSV though. Kind of a late bloomer. The Dutch league was much better back then however. We could still sign young players like Ronaldo and Robben back then.

Weirdly even Ruud never managed to satisfy the Dutch in Oranje. The shadow of Marco van Basten still loomed a bit larger then, and everyone pales compared to that.

That higher fee might put people off but, really it's just smart negotiating and good accounting. I'm glad we're doing proper deals this summer.

Be ready with your mobile and keep us posted.
I tried to get a picture of my Dad's plane earlier this year because that flew over me, but in the photo it just came out as a yellow blurry dot! I will try though

Tag me if you see a flight track link

Excellent we like this alot.
Gone from signing washed up strikers who can play half a season to wingers up front to certified centre forwards with potential.

Insane how long it's taken the club to get to this point let's think about it.

Rooney (No.10)
Falcao (Dusted)
Rashford (Winger)
Martial (Winger)
Ighalo (Dusted)
Cavani (Dusted)
Zlatan (Dusted)
CR7 (Dusted)
Weghurst (Dusted)
Lukaku (Crap)

I don't have a view on him as a player but good to get another striker option in the squad and good that it's been sorted so quickly.

Less than 24hr after being knocked out of the Euros, it looks like this one is wrapped up.

I though there was an Euro game for third place and he wasn't gonna be available for the game if he is flying today, but just realized there's no game for 3rd position in the Euro. Good, I wish they would do the same in the World Cup and Copa America

Wish they'd bin that game in the world cup as well. Most pointless football game imaginable.

I suppose it would be a better game if the crowd where allowed to point and laugh at them and throw tomotoes while chanting, loseeeeeeeeeeers.

It’s a good thing especially for countries for which it’s a big achievement to reach that far.

Weghorst would never have joined United if not for Ronaldo throwing his toys out of the pram and Martial being perma-injured. Otherwise, completely agree. We have for far too long tried to go for the experienced quick fix striker. Probably in the hope that Martial would be the one leading the line and anyone signed would be backup to him.

I hope he'll be World Class.

When was the last time we bought a world class player or bought someone and developed him into a world class player?

Off the top of my head the last 10 years have been littered with past-it Strikers

Hopefully De Ligt follows him in. Not seen much of Zirkzee but he clearly had a good season last year. He's young and we're paying about £35million, so even if it does go to shite we should have some re-sale in him. Hopefully we're not paying him silly money!

World class players or world class strikers? Because Martinez is world class

Will do. Nothing wrong with being a crazy muppet imo

great price really 12-15m a year, plenty of moves this window i hope.

Good deal and value, hopefully he adapts to the league and becomes a pivotal player.

So if you pay the release clause does that mean you got to pay the entire amount up front?

Yeah I believe so, which is why the Neymar buyout was so mental.

Looks like we're paying about €2.5m more than the RC and have structured the deal over 3 years instead. Bologna obviously could have refused but I guess it's more cash for them, and they'd have had to give half of it straight to Bayern anyway, so maybe it looks better on their books as well this way.

Most normal transfers are normally structured payments over time, so that part isn't unusual at all.

Good stuff.

Smart business as well to pay slightly above the release clause and Bologna being amiable to deal with as well.
