I think we need to be realistic. I worry that some fans seem to be easily carried away, too emotive. Joshua Zirkzee is not good enough for Man Utd. I'm pleased for him with recent matters at OT, booed off was just out of order, so I am happy for him. But he needs to think about what type of player he wants to be at Man Utd, because his style and quality aren't good enough. He isn't strong, fast, demanding, he doesn't break his neck to score goals.. he drifts around like someone in a dreamland. He isn't clinical. He seems willing to let a game pass him by, rather than impose himself on a match. Compare him to Garnacho, or Amad.
Seeing Raya constantly divining out of the way probably helped boost his confidence!
Martinez' injured runup really made Raya look like a moron
I'd like to see a bit more conviction in his finishes. Both the opportunities he gets end with weak side footed shots. The second one only troubles Raya because of the deflection.

We should keep him, he has considerable potential. As others have said, the biggest issue is with adjusting to the pace of the league, but I have seen other players do that and I can't see any reason why he can't.
Not entirely true. He was one of our best players in games against Southampton away and Everton at home when he started. Had a very good first half against Palace away as well.
It shows he can do it even when he starts against weaker oppositions. Neither him or Hojlund look like a permanent solutions, but based on Hojlund recent showings, Zirkzee deserves to start against Southampton.
He’s been here for less than 6 months, is in a new league, didn’t get a proper preseason and is playing under his 3rd manager since being transferred.

To write that kind of post after a 'we need to be realistic' part is remarkable, kudos.
To be honest, I think the 'carried away', 'emotive' take is the one you are positing. A few bad games when he joined the club and you are writing him off. If you want logic and objectivity - he is young, he has performed well else where and is clearly showing improvement under Amorim.

This is my point. I sometimes why it takes so long for people to state the obvious. How long would you give Zirkzee, a season to get up to the pace of the Premiership? And where does he play, a No 9? Is he going to lead the line, score goals?
That's not his game, and I actually think it is a little unfair on him to expect more.

I’m glad he scored the winning penalty but he’s done one good thing a striker should do and one other good thing and some people have gone totally overboard.
Say what you want about him but he's quietly begun putting together a fan favourite highlights reel. That mazy dash at the end vs City, twisting Saliba's blood, popping in the winning pen at the Emirates....
He's a youngish player who's come in from a vastly different type of league and has struggled a bit, the ones who've gone overboard are the ones who keep saying he's crap, not United level withough giving him a proper chance to find his feet, he's shown glimpses of what he can do and if he can maintain that and show more then he'll be fine
It's more to do with how he played in Serie A.
He was named the YPA of Serie A not because of his goal scoring ability, it was more about his dribbling, skills, passes and interlinking play.
Him starting to do that bit by bit more is hopefully showing signs of him settling down a bit but at the moment his tempo is different to the tempo of the league.
He is quite a fun player to watch when he does some of his dribbles and skills compared to say a tap in merchant & personally i love his signature goal celebration
I think he was more suited to go up against the two twats of the Arsenal's defense from the get go. The question is whether he is capable to the the number on them when they all start from minute one. Zirkzee humiliated Saliba on that counter.

I think he starts tomorrow. Hojlund hasn't been doing much and Zirkzee has been given a minor boost in the last couple of games. Hopefully, he can deliver a quality performance.
