Jaysus he was fecking useless this evening.

Genuinely don't think I would have bee much worse.

Terrible performance but do feel for the kid. He didn't buy himself over the summer. There was a scout, an executive, and a manager who greenlit spending that much money on him.

He's 23...and I said "young lad", not "young player"...

Did you have all the answers at 23? How would you have coped with 76,000 jeering and booing as you stood humiliated with a camera in your face?

Waiting for
"Id look at my bank account and wouldn't give a shit about the fans"

If thats the way you feel about it then I suppose you should feel the same towards Amorim. He picked him and knows his limitations. I’m sure Zirkzee is trying his best. It may not be good enough but thats not on him. He doesn’t deserve to be singled out for christ sake.
I think some people see booing as this horrendous thing. It's fans voicing their displeasure at his footballing performance. It's no reflection on him as a person, the fact the booing and not his performance is seen as the most offensive thing by some I won't understand here. This is not Madrid fans getting annoyed because their team aren't winning hard enough or playing with a certain flair. As I said, I feel for him being singled out, he isn't the only one who has it coming.

Feel bad for him but he turned up to the club clearly out of shape and he's just got worse and worse.

Shocking scouting really considering Osimhen ended up going to Galatasaray in loan, Toney went for a few million more than this and there were plenty of other strikers about - even Evanilson at Bournemouth looks a lot better fit for the Prem at the same cost

He was beyond useless today, but the fan reaction in the ground was a disgrace. Ashamed of that, and he didn’t deserve it at all.

I know you're joking but some people genuinely think like this. They think money equals happiness and it doesn't. This is the man's profession, it's what he has trained all his life for so much so he got his big move to a historic club only to be booed off 30 mins into the first half. Most of the people giving him shit probably never amounted to shit and still live with their mum in their mid 30-s and so can't comprehend this.

Solanke cost £60m too. More than Zirkzee but much less than Hojlund.

Not to mention if that was your son? The lad has just arrived at the worst time in modern history of the club...might not be good enough but was does booing achieve anyway. It's embarrassing as a utd fan...

Considering how successful they've been, I'm not sure even that is worth condemning

Very true. I can't see a way back for him from here with us (I'm not sure I could before tonight to be honest). Hopefully Juventus or another Italian side come calling in January.

The thing is though...I don't even have a massive issue with people booing...if you want to boo, boo, it's a free country.

Two things though...one, the fans picked an easy target. Many others have let us down over and over again and not been subjected to that.

Secondly, boo if you want, but understand the impact it can have and that these lads are human beings.

When my son was earning 100k a week and playing like garbage, I think I could help him rationalise why

I don't even think we've seen the real 'Joshua Zirkzee'. We've seen glimpses of it...... and since then we've seen a player slowly sink more and more into his shell. He'll probably go and be a success elsewhere instead of the pressure cooker that is MUFC at the moment. Like, who is playing well right now? Who is thriving? Who is even, doing ok?

But for whatever reason fans have to coalesce around a space goat...

It's really quite impressive how shit he is. How did he end up at Manchester United?

Absolutely right. Embarrassing reaction from fans to single out a young player literally just arrived at the club. This club is rotten to the core....

Yep and your the kind of parent that would swear at 5 year olds playing park football.....

He is a professional footballer being paid a fortune at one of the biggest clubs in the world. If he can not handle the pressure of being booed after an absolutely appalling performance then he shouldn't be a professional footballer.

Unfortunately the standards of this football club have dropped so low that people like you defend the players even after dreadful performances. If more players were booed then maybe they would book their ideas up and start performing better. If the player decides to get upset because the fans have had enough and won't accept such terrible performances, instead of being determined to do better, then they should be kicked out of the club as they are clearly not up to the task of getting this club back to the top level.

Jesus Christ, he was bad but that shit is soul destroying. He's adjusting to a new country and league and is still young. Hope he comes through it stronger.

£36.5 million…. For utter dross. He wouldn’t get into any other PL team bar maybe Southampton at a push.

People arent understanding that this is his style of play. It isn't a lack of effort, he isn't built for a high intensity game.
This seems to be it, and I keep saying it but who the feck thought this profile of player would be good for us and in this league? I get that we wanted a player who could link things up but surely other attributes of his game were assessed besides that?

In his game tonight, he even made a few tackles when he lost the ball which were appreciated. He did try, it’s just the pace of the game is too much for him and he looks so lost.

That really was brutal to watch him get subbed. Felt so bad for him.

I can't believe that between our scouts, directors, and manager they have somehow concluded we should buy this player. How on earth do these people end up in positions of authority at a club and business this size?

Some things are more important than just football and you learn more about so called fans when things aren't going right than when they are.
You are right though, the standards of the football club have dropped and I include some of the fans in that also.

Some of you guys have so much empathy I’m a little bit jealous.

He isn’t good enough for United, at some point we will sell him because he’s shit.

And you guys, like me, won’t give him a second thought ever again.
