It's not parking the bus so much as opening all your doors and windows, but the burglar keeps tripping himself up.

Erm, not sure about my analogies...

Luck is on our side so far.

Outstanding half for us, except defensively. Jose has work to do but we are in a very strong position should we get ourselves organised.

Started off exactly how we should play. Needs a rocket up the defenders though. Our set piece defending has been woeful.

I felt he was a little too slow in making changes which is unusual as Jose is usually one of the first to spot the changing dynamic of a game. Perhaps he trusted our defence just a tad too much. He did however make them in the end we were fairly comfortable from then on so credit for that. He can't do anything about Pogba so against credit for his game management when we were down to 10.

First half was brilliant tactically. His defence failed him with a lack of composure.

Totally destroyed Wenger today tactically. He has always done that though :). Great win for us and it was key to get a big away win for him at this moment!

Lukaku is the key in this big games. If he holds up the ball as he did today, we'll be devastating on the counter.

I think he should have brought on Herrera sooner. Doubt he'll be happy with our defense.

Was very happy with our counter attacking today. First time in a big game under Jose where we were like his Real Madrid side. I always said I don't mind sitting back as long as we posed a threat on counter attacks. We definitely did today.

Hopefully the defense going AWOL was a one-off. Because we can't afford that vs City.

Lightning counters. And the defense was actually well organized, it was due to individual form that we looked so shaky. Mainly Rojo.

Also note how good a defensive shape we maintain when we are a man down. We become even more tougher to breach. I never have any fears about us going to pieces after a red card under Jose.

Mersons predictions of our next 3 games prior to Watford was LLL,he should be made to step down! back on topic, said all along that we have the best man at the right club at the right time and long may it continue!!!

In a way, this game reminded me a lot of the good old days when this match was the most important in determining the league winner, when Wenger was actually a good manager. Hate, red cards, penalties not called or called and battles everywhere. This game gave me the same spirit from these days.

He's doing a great job but its such a fine line he's treading between success and failure at the moment with his knack for inviting pressure.

Agree. Feels like it's been ages since we've been involved in a big, high quality, exciting game. Well done Mourinho for having a proper go.

Needs to be given a new contract as soon as possible. If he is doing what he is doing with two 33 year old wingers as fullbacks and his best two centre half injured, us at full strength and with his players will be competing for every trophy we play for.

352 is part of our DNA for the next 5-10 years whether José is here or not & we will be successful as long as a manager is able to recognise that & that messing around with 4321 and the likes isn't going to work. José is too negative to unlock its full potential - seen by our performances soon as we establish a lead.

Let me guess. LvG laid the foundations for this victory as well, right?:smirk:

I simply cant say anything to you. Just wow. :wenger:

Our players looked very well drilled when we went down to 10.

For the 352 for the touch line wingers that are fullbacks and 2 of the 3 upfront when one should be dropped to make 3 out of 3. Yes buddy - did Jose find Lingard this season :boring:

Haha it'd okay - some of us new the 352 with lingard in behind 2 strikers were going to happen; people who kind of understood what LVG was trying to do & didn't lose their hats at Lingards poor performances.

Got to give him credit though right? Unearthed a good player at least.

Indeed, there was a commentator in Chelsea game earlier who mentioned that when you play with a back 3 players often shift responsibilities thinking the other defender have him covered, in a flat back 4 their jobs are more refined.

I think there's something to that.

He seems to have a few managers down to a tee and knows how to get under their skin. Not sure if the stats would support me but Wenger seems to be one of them. I usually expect Mourinho to win in this duel for some reason.

This being said, our defense did look shaky on a personnel level several times. Did you guys notice Pogba screaming at the people around him to push up? Wonder what the instructions from the dugout were.

Anyone who can end Arsenal at Emirates with half team supposedly out of form is a distinguished manager. Zlatan's experience wasn't even needed and miraculous healing of Lacazette didn't do much.

You go and watch some more movies about tennis, Jose. Individual management (Lingard) and overall tactical stance - A Feckin Plus.

Tbh I am surprised that people are calling this as Jose masterclass...this was one of our worst defensive performances in recent times, may be the worst defensive performance this season so far. We could have easily been down 3-2 considering the number of chances Arsenal created. Main difference between us and Arsenal today was that we were extremely efficient(which isn't often the case with us) and DeGea(coupled with Arsenal being extremely wasteful). I am glad that we got the win but we would struggle against City if we defend the same way.

That was the furthest thing from a LVG performance I've ever seen. So no.

Well as I've said 2 pf our best CF's today was played in a 352 formation that is undoubtedly United's best formation. Never mind the wingbacks that LVG repositioned. I'd say he had some part to do with it even if it's only 1% & hidden behind the hate & tiresome games you had to go through; deep down somewhere really deep there must be a little feeling of credit where credit is due- even if it's just unearthing or revitalising these players.

If you don't want to admit; we can always wait for the players speek of their appreciation once it inevitably comes out in the next 5-6 years as it does at all his previous clubs.

Il see you then brother.
