This is very true. I don't mind going into big games with the pragmatic approach of not committing completely to attack, but still going for the win and having a Plan B for if the opposition take the lead.

The problem with us right now is that we seem to exclusively be going for draws in big games, and have feck all idea as to what we should if/when we fall behind.

We got away with a point at Anfield...but then currently Liverpool look like a team who're going to finish 5th/6th. They're incredibly weak in defence, and playing for a point there was a lot more frustrating than it will be when we inevitably take the same approach away to City.

Great post

people won't listen to reason and fact, no matter how you explain it.

What are you going to do? I, personally, am going to get some exercise. There are more important things to do than to argue about football on the internet

I'm not José's biggest fan or the brand of football we are playing but people need to get a grip wanting him to be sacked. The team is improving and we aren't in the worst position in the world in the league and breezed the CL group stage.
No. LvG was brilliant against top teams in league. We went back to Moyes era when we are playing top teams.

1. And you took it upon yourself to reply to that. It was directed at the "room" and not you personally.

2. You are presumptuous and wrong. I am not a bigger fan of Mourinho than the club. I've supported the club since probably before you jerked off for the first time.

It's becoming your trademark to just throw insults when you have no meaningful facts.

So you insulted entire room (thread) which surprise surprise I'm a part of and somehow I started with the insults? Are you even capable of understanding yourself?

My "presumptions" are directly derived from reading your posts in which pretty much Mourinho can't do wrong.

I can't believe Mourinho went in to this season with the same attack, expecting it to magically perform better. Our midfield with Pogba and Matic is one of the best around, and this is the area where we have improved the most. But we still have the likes of Mata, Mikhi, Rashford, Martial and Lingard upfront. I don't ever see us competing with the best unless we get some world class attackers for atleast one or two of these positions.

I don't think missing Pogba should be used as an excuse for us being completely toothless in attack at times. Pogba alone doesn't turn us into title challengers, we need more quality in attack.

Calm down, lad

I think Jose took on-board the comments in the media and fans of late and played a more open game. We should have played for the draw and took a point as we did at Liverpool.

Bit early to be calling pogba matic one of the best midfield's around. They've played a handful of games against teams who are , let's be honest, poor.

Let's see.

LVG lost to Mourinho. LVG was also up against Brendon and Pellegrinni. Not really the same league as Klopp and Pep.

Pogba or no Pogba we're still gonna be hoofing the ball till Kingdom come as our main way of attacking, only difference being that with Pogba it looks a bit better because he hoofs the ball more accurately than the rest of our players.

his biggest fault this season was not having a fire sale this past summer. I don't know if it was loyalty to the players, thinking he could get more out off the deadwood or the club refusing to open the chequebook but it was perfectly clear that we carry lots of them.

I would have had zero issue with him being called a chequebook manager. Look how far that got Pep.

Just to put things into perspective

1/Jose Mouriniho himself said he needs three transfer windows in order to win the title.

2/Mouriniho style of football has always been like this since he starts coaching.

3/ The board who hired him and the fans should know that he will sacrifice style of football for success.

4/ He prefers a player who can clear a ball far away than a player who can pass or score.

5/ Loosing to a top four team like Chelsea away is half expected.

I'm perfectly calm and you're deflecting which only proves my point.

Let me guess another insult incoming in 3...2..1...0?

No, you are so angry that you are about to combust, it seems. Take a deep breath and remember: it's only football.

We are supposed to be a team who can challenge for the league, how is playing for draws gonna close the gap on citeh? Anybody can lose a big game,it happens, our performances don't inspire much confidence.

That we barely posed threat, and our football was dire. That was pathetic.
we had several very good chances, and created quite a few possibilities.

In last 10 mins, Rashford missed a glaring chance and Fellaini was very unlucky.

So, not several, only two. We did not have many chances at all, and the football was dire. Nowhere near good enough.

Indulge me, which part tipped you off that I'm about to combust? Was it the part I caught you trying to deny you started with the insults and presented you with the proof you did?

Or the part in which you kept throwing insults because you were cornered and had nothing else to say?

Wait people wanna replace him with Potch? Yeah I mean he has a big knack for winning big away games doesn't he?

1)he's had 3
2(that's the worrying part.
3) this part of the deal is success reliant ( the Europa was good, but let's be honest, he needed it to justify staying in a job)
4)very worrying
5)looking clueless isn't.

Posh head can be turned for far less than that.

It really can't. Poch is at a club with a more balanced side, with better players who are far more stable than we are. We've been second best to them for about half a decade now. The club is in the shitter, why would a manager want to throw away that comfort for us in our current predicament? Not to add, if he were to be available, clubs just as big, with just as much money, in far better circumstances than us would be interested in him.

Also let's not forget - Poch is just as shite if not worse against the top sides than Jose is. With a far more balanced and a better side.

There is a fundamental issue at the club that goes far beyond the manager.

Watching football is something we every week. Watching this type of football and finishing 6th is nothing I am interested in tbh. I cant believe he wants 3 m salary raise.

Your right- there all far too soft. Soft and weak. Everyone's obsessed with big money star signings. We need a few decent players with some fight in them

Let's not get carried away. This is our usual lose at the Bridge and I get used to this. This stadium is just terrible for us and I'm happy we ended this visit that early.

We passed one of the hardest periods of the season with a list of injures in midfield with us being second, not bad at all. We need to change some things in our formation and tactics starting from the next game but let's not pretend we're at a crisis.

Winning the league seems difficult currently but we're good enough to finish at least 2nd or 3rd.

Agree with all of that.

Problem is, I'm not sure finishing second or third will really be considered good enough. Especially given the onus he places on results rather than beautiful football.

Hardly passed it. And stop clinching to this second thing, we are already 8 points off and we are basically level with Spurs and Chelsea.

Considering the abysmal last 4 years, finishing 2nd or 3rd is definitely an improvement that, if happens, we should build on and hopefully win the league next season.

No, because he can actually drive and link play.

Down to the board tbh. They need to decide what they want going forward. If they're happy with Mourinho's vision, give him time and let him get it right, if they don't want to go down that road, find a manager who suits those standards, give him time. Regardless of either option, it's not going to be a quick fix. Under Jose we've improved immensely, but we've still got a long way to go.

Before the Liverpool game, opposition fans were pointing out that we'd only played bottom half teams. One of the reasons I wasn't convinced about us, put alongside with flattering scorelines such as the one against Everton.

Ultimately I watch football for entertainment. The way we're playing football, winning is a must because entertainment is low at the moment. I don't see my standards as being super high, but football with next to no attacking intent, I'll always struggle to get behind that.

"Stop clinching" that's basically my first post here to mention this after the game.

what you're saying doesn't change the fact we're currently second after playing 3 big games, 2 of them away. If 8 points behind City is a problem for us it's definitely a problem for Spurs and Chelsea as well.

You're just searching for a meltdown.

The part where you are writing a small essay, for starters.
You are also wrong again - I insulted you once, I did’t keep throwing. Don’t make me go for a brace.

You are one of the guys that will act so surprised when we are battling for top 4 nearing the end of the season. Just watch us play and stop just blindly looking at results.

Thanks for the advice which I definitely won't even put it in consideration.

5 of the top 6 will be battling for top 4 come the end of the season.

The problem isn't necessarily that we lost at the Bridge. It's something that happened regularly during the Fergie era. The difference is that back then, we'd often be able go to Liverpool or Arsenal and pick up impressive away results. Since Mourinho arrived we've been genuinely hopeless in big away games to the point where it's incredibly rare we even score in them.
