Jorginho

City is playing Fernandinho-KDB-Silva in the midfield three. Madrid is Casemiro-Kroos-Modric. PSG is Motta-Verratti-Rabiot. Barca is Busquets-Rakitic-Iniesta. Its the way the top teams are playing.
Maybe we should try Matic-Mata-Pogba.
This would also be my option.

The nearest to Carrick out there
That's true. But my question is, where would Jorginho play in this United team? I'd prefer Matic over Jorginho playing deep in a midfield 2 alongside Pogba. If it's in a midfield 3, is either Matic or Jorginho mobile enough to play box to box? If Jorginho plays alongside Matic in a midfield 2 with Pogba as a number 10, would that improve our team rather than having Sanchez or Lingard as our number 10?

Pogba shouldn't be playing in a midfield 2, that's the prime issue, it's a total waste. Maybe against bottom of the league teams, but anyone half decent, it shouldn't ever happen.

We need 2 midfielders. 1 of them has to be a carrick replacement, he looks like one. Him, seri, fred all seem on the same level. Its good we are addressing this area.

Doesn't Jorginho as the holding midfielder in a three? We already signed Matic for that in the summer. Just get Milinkovic-Savic, it's not complicated.

I suppose my question would be... who gets dropped for this 3rd midfielder? Take your pick from Lukaku, Martial, Lindgard, & Sanchez (with the assumption that Rashford & Mata are already on the bench). If this has to happen, I hope it's for someone really special.

How about both? If Fellaini and Herrera leave we will need it.

Much of muchness either one would be great , if both Fellaini and Herrera leave though it's highly unlikely would rather prefer another box to box midfielder brought in alongside one of Weigl or Jorginho.

If this is true its likely a Javier Ribalta scouting job

Jorginho is not some unknown gem he quite well regarded and has been on big clubs radar for quite some time.

He is excellent. Passes between the lines, have an amazing passing range and often creates chances from deep. We need some rotation for Matic, and i think if this rumour is true, Matic is already beginning to be phased out, as i don't think they would work particularly well together, and Jorginho wouldn't come here to sit on the bench.

At Napoli he plays in a 3 man midfield with Allan (very hard-working box-to-box) and Hamsik (Attacking midfielder type). Pogba would be our Hamsik, Herrera could maybe play the Allan role.

I only worry how he will transition to the faster paced PL, but that goes for most players new to the PL.

Having watched only youtube clips on Jorginho, Seri and Weigl, I have to say the most impressive has been Weigl. He reminds me so much of Carrick. Has anyone watched all 3 (I assume Fred will definitely be going to City so didn't bother including him)? In terms of price, I would assume Weigl and Jorgino would be around 40m euros, so similar in price to Seri.

Both Weigl and Jorginho will be more expensive than that, especially Weigl.

Yeah, I can't see him, Matic and Pogba lining up at once. It's most likely just for competition at CDM, as we'll only have Matic next season.

Made a stats comparison between some of the more well known holding midfielders that we could go for and Carrick in his fantastic 12/13 season.

With all these midfielders we're linked to, what's the plan for McTominay, Pereira and later on, Gomes?
I see many want us to get 2 cm's, i think 1 is enough.
Give McTominay and Pereira some matches next year, and i think they'll develop into pretty good players for us, and stick with Pogba, Matic and New, in the bigger matches.

How much do you reckon? I don't think it is worth spending much more than 45-50m Euros, as it would not be a sure thing that they would adapt well to the EPL.

Weigl coming from Dortmund is easily a £60m player, especially if it us buying.

45-50 Euros won't get you any talent today.

Pereira and Gomes are not central midfielders. In any case, I don't see us buying more than 1 CM this summer, even though we will lose Fellaini and Carrick. We don't have an unlimited budget, so if there is a need for a 2nd midfielder, it would have to wait till summer 2019. For next season, Pogba, Matic, Herrera, McTominay and new signing will suffice.

That is a lot. I know the market is crazy, but if we are going to spend 60m pounds, I hope he adapts well to the EPL. There is talk of Seri and Fred costing 75m Euros total for both, so if Dortmund want 60m pounds, we may have to look elsewhere.

Don't know if it is true, but Wikipedia states his contract is till summer 2019, which would mean he will be in the last year of his contract this summer. So, I think 60m pounds would be a bit excessive. That is how much Arsenal wanted for Sanchez in his last year of contract, and Weigl is not on the same level.

Wikipedia was wrong, no big surprise. ESPN had an article claiming he extended his contract till 2021. So much for that.

Mourinho said he thinks Pereira could play as deep lying playmaker, and McTominay can play as a cm too.
Where do you think Gomes should play then? On the wing, or as #10?
I wouldn't mind seeing Pereira as #8 or #10 either.
But i think Pereira and McTominay could/should play more next season, and not go out on loan.

There’s no chance in hell Dortmund would sell Weigl for £60m. He will be in the £80m-£100m bracket.

If the reports that they want 60 mil for Auba are correct, I don't see how Weigl is a 80-100 mil player.
Auba is 28 and seems to have already peaked. He also has alleged attitude issues and is causing problems for the club.

Weigl is 22, very talented and has massive potential. He is definitely worth more than Auba.

He’s still a defensive minded midfielder. He won’t go for £80m. I think roughly £60-65m is plausible.

Jorginho has much better technique than weigl. Look at the way weigl controls the ball, his touch isn't as precise as jorginho's. Jorginho frankly has beautiful technique, a real joy to watch. Imperfect technique will be a liability in tight spaces though of course he is younger and midfielder take a long time to mature.

We were in for Seri and now Jorginho? Jorginho looks to be a Carrick replacement and would possibly play at the bottom of the pyramid in a 4-3-3 which would mean Matic wouldn't feature. Is Jose still trying to pursue a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3? Does anyone think that Pogba - Matic - Jorginho would be a great partnership?

Get both. Its like it never occurs to people Matic will be the only midfielder of his kind in our ranks as Carrick becomes a coach, come the season's end. We need competition for him.

He wants the option to be able to play 4-2-3-1. Jorginho or Seri would give him that option.
