Honestly I wouldn't think too much of it, pretty sure only a month ago he claimed Weigl was basically done.
Pep basically wants every midfielder in the world that is good at passing.
We already have Matic for the next 3 years so a midfielder with the same profile isnt needed. We need someone to be defensively strong, quick and aggressive in midfield. Jorginho doesnt match with these criteria
He plays in the same role as Matic. Matic-Jorginho would be too defensive.
I think we would have a more balanced midfield with Neves as well.
If the statman dave analysis on him is anything to go by, the guy is exceptional passer but not particularly great defensively. It’s highly unlikely Mourinho will go for someone like him

Delph although not very good going forward, is better than Mendy when it comes to defensive part of the game. I feel those two give City team stability.

He'll definitely fit in more at city with their needless passing. Can already see all the posts next season showing how many passes he makes each game.
They are the best defensive team in the league, so I think they can definitely afford it.

He is their second option to weigl. I think we will get fred as one , the second central midfielder will be a different one. A dream would be fred and milinkovic savic. We want weigl too, i do think if we dont get him, we sign fred, if city dont get him, they sign jorginho.
That is their way of defending. Its not pointless, it is a clever way of not getting attacked by the other team, if you can pass out of every situation, other team does not have the ball they cant attack or score.
How abour Ruben Neves and Fred? I think that could work.
That is two "6", i havent seen neves too much though, although i do think neves has been linked with Liverpool.

IMO he offers something we lack - i.e. a playmaker who acts as a defensive screen, operating just before the final third. We lack a midfielder that can sit just ahead of matic, be a defensive screen but also be an offensive weapon. Jorginho's lofted passes beyond the opposition defense and through balls are excellent at overcoming packed defenses.
That's what Jose expects from Pogba when he plays him next to Matic, but it's not his game. He prefers to be at the end of those passes in the final third.
I don't think playing Jorginho next to Matic would be too defensive, I think it would allow us more control of possession, it would make Lukaku, Lingard more dangerous because they like to run beyond the last defensive line.
Would be a real kicker to see him end up at City, especially after we were linked so heavily a few months back.

He was never coming to United, his comments basically ruled him out a month ago. Speaking of attacking pressing football, not exactly Jose. His agent today has basically confirmed he'll be going to City. No huge surprise, hope we get some of our transfer business done before World Cup.
Assuming Fellaini leaves, we'd need a #6 (Carrick replacement) and a #8 (Fellaini replacement). Jorginho is a #6, while Fred and Savic are #8s, so you're comparing different types of player with different skillsets.
Jorginho would be one of the better options to replace Carrick.
We need both types of midfielders. Jorginho is more like Carrick/Busquets etc. He'll just sit infront of the back 4 and dictate the tempo with his passing. Savic and Fred are more box to box midfielders and will provide an additional goal threat. Jorginho is exactly what we need because he is the perfect Carrick replacement and will help us to dominate games. He is a deep lying playmaker. Unfortunately we don't dominate games or press high so he would be wasted in a Mourinho team. If it were down to me I'd get both Jorginho and Fred but it seems like he will go to City instead.
Would rather have Draxler buddy. I’m also not too concerned with who City buy as if they play him then someone else is dropped as their 11 is full of quality. Where we have a few right average players nowadays i our 11 so I’m actually looking forward to hopefully seeing a big improvement in our team with 3-4 additions to our starting 11.

Without doubt no question but one I think would be better suited in our team. I think he could do what KDB does for City for us. He’s such a talented player. Would love to see him in midfield 3 with Pogba and Matic.

Totally agree but that reserve side ain’t going to play much so might not be such a happy Camp. Plus Foden should not even be mentioned as he barely had any minutes so I would not count him. We have saw more of Mctominay this season.
Not really positionally but his passing is on par. Very good player in the right set up though. Great composure about him but needs time and space imo to be at his best. Will be interesting to see how he does in the premiership with the pace of the league and set up of teams completely different. But very good player.
