Jordan Pickford

He doesn't need to ping it every time. The fact that he's capable of not making stupid feck ups with square passes more times than DDG is already an improvement.

thats the thing though, his short passing is untested, when under any pressure he always goes long. Neither England or Everton try to play through a high press .

Would much rather someone like Onana or Raya who we know can fizz the ball along the ground.

Not going to get too sucked in as it's probably a nonsense link, but what I will say is I'll start to get serious reservations about ten Hag if there's even a whiff he's genuinely looking at this muppet.

I thought the whole Brexit FC was behind us when we appointed Ten Hag, first Mount now Pickford

After watching Onana in the CL final now that’s the type of GK I’d be more than happy to break the bank for, and it’s seriously the level we should be going for if we actually want to be a serious team again.

I'd just about put up with Trump or Johnson in goal at United than Pickford.

Costa looks a decent keeper, Pickford won't come cheap either if they'd gone down it would have been different. Can't see Everton selling him now.

Isn't our squad low on home grown players? It's not as straightforward as seling Maguire, Henderson and McTominay and replacing them with non 'Brexit FC' players. We have to register a certain number of home grown players to fill the PL quota.

You can see clearly that Pickford chooses to launch it long over the short pass most of the time too. The players offer an option and he waved them away. Either because he doesn’t see the value in short passing, doesn’t trust his short game, or he just really likes kicking it as far as possible, like a big child. I think it’s the latter.

Will be utterly horrified if any of the Utd tier 1's pick up on this and corroborate it

There's been issues with Robert Sanchez at Brighton and he's very good with the ball at his feet whenever I've seen him. Not sure why De Zerbi replaced him, but Sanchez didn't react well. Obviously there's questions over his character there, but he could be a good option and may be cheap if he's fallen out with De Zerbi.

Pickford is terrible, I think it'd rather keep De Gea and that's from someone who wants De Gea gone yesterday!

Everton fan here.

Must admit im suprised by the reaction of fans in general and from some of your fans to Pickford talk.

It seems as if people think he's the Pickford of 3 or 4 years ago that was error prone. He's not. He has matured brilliantly and is one of the main reasons we stayed up the last 2 seasons. He has been outstanding in a poor team defensively and in general. 99% of our fans would rather see Onana or DCL go before him. His distribution isnt as good as it was but i think thats due to instructions from management not wanting to take time or risks on the ball.

Im not sure he will go, especially for £30m but if he does and you get him, he will be a superb signing.

This has to be rubbish, it's only true in that nightmare where we'd given the job to Southgate.

I wouldn't waste your breath mate. Minds have been made up already.

Whoever at the club thinks it's a good idea to look at him has to be utterly mentally deficient.
As I said, if he was joining on a free for a low salary, having an England International goalkeeper as second or even third choice allows us to count him in the home grown contingent, and means we can have an extra foreigner. These are pretty much the only circumstances under which Pickford makes sense.

Fecking hell. This is a move i'd expect Spurs to make, not us.

I saw him vs City recently and like other occasions I thought he was dreadful. No one doubts that, like De Gea or Hugo Lloris, that he can have moments where he looks really good like they do but you want stability in a keeper and one who is the complete package. He just really isn't an elite goalkeeper.

I know exactly how this signing will play out if it happens; he'll have a few good games where he makes some decent saves and everyone says how good he is and then we'll start to see the mistakes/poor distribution creeping in and then we'll be back to square one.

Also, his personality seems really obnoxious, although maybe he's a nice guy really, i don't know.

Glad Everton stayed in the league by the way, despite the Manchester/Liverpool rivalry.

Is he even any good with his feet? I really don’t want him. I’m usually all for giving incoming players a good chance but this feels destined to fail before it starts. Saying that it’s probably rubbish talk, coming from bad sources.

I haven't double checked the stats but from memory he has good accurate long kicks, but Everton tend to go long, so doesn't play out from the back much.

He's a fine goalkeeper, but he has the exact same problems that have infuriated people this season in de Gea. If this actually happened it'd just be an expensive sidegrade for seemingly no good reason.
Although the reason reaction are this strong imo is just that he's quite unlikeable and this makes people much more vocal about his deficiencies.

It's more just I'd rather an average shot stopper but a goalkeeper who can dominate his area in the air and who is very comfortable playing out from the back... They are more important attributes for big clubs than just being a crazy shot stopper but being mediocre in other aspects.

Let me be the first to get this tired old argument out of the way: "yOu WouLD bE aLL FOr it if He wAS CaLlED JoSe PiQuiNHo!"

Absolute nonsense. The reason I don't want him has nothing to do with his nationality. I just don't like his dumb face.

Did you just create an imaginary comment and reply to it yourself?
