Thank feck we have a scapegoat for today. Ridiculous challenge from him, and I hope he quite rightfully gets bollocked for it.

As for those hoping he never plays for us again; stop it.
 
Bad mistake from him today. Wouldnt be surprised if this keeps him out of the side for a while. Hope he can come back from this.
 
I think he was at fault for the first goal and got himself sent off like he did last year.

I said last year and over the summer that I thought he would be sold, and I was surprised he returned to United for this season.

He can look good for a game or two, but how long will Ferguson be patient with his mistakes?
 
Sadly grabbing opposition players is one of Evans' traits. I doubt he'll eliminate it from his game now...
 
I've been firmly in Jonny's corner for a long time now, but I don't think I can defend him anymore. Time and again he not only fails to show up for big games, but he's a complete liability. He ruined the game today. We were the better team in the first half (aside from the half-chance Balotelli put away when Evans lost him) and he didn't even give us a chance in the 2nd half. fecking idiot. Squad player, fine. Play him when all other options are exhausted, okay. First choice in a game like this? No way.
 
He should continue to be the squad player that he is. But now after letting us down, surely behind Smalling and Jones who have yet to. Its been a showing of faith that Evans has been picked as CB ahead of either Smalling or Jones, whenever we've missed Rio or Vidic recently. I hope todays events will change that
 
EVans had slipped before that (again - was it Stoke where he slipped 2-3 times) and presented them with opportunites - actually made them believe they could score whereas we had controlled the game up until then.

Then had a chance in the 6 yard box and completely miscues. Then at fault for the goal. Then gets himself stupidly sent for for reacting late and pulling Balotelli down. Deserved to get sent off for that.

The rest was down to substitutions really.

Anderson shouldn't have come off as we had a relatively robust if not a in-control central midfield and after that they just ran right through us!
 
He's perhaps a scapegoat for a loss but not for an embarrassment. Perhaps the team wanted to take the heat off him by performing like they did.

SAF isn't innocent either.
 
Terrible. He has no excuses really. Ferguson and the other seniors in the team will hopefully tear him a new one. It'll only help him.
 
For me he's always prone to an error, I am uneasy every time I see his name on the sheet, Smalling is a safer choice and Jones should have started at right back.
 
No more Evans please. No more, atleast in the big games. Too error prone and cost us the most embarassing defeat in our history.
 
I just miffed why Vidic didn't play in this match, playing Evans in a big match is not always good.

Gotta blame Fergie really, didn't address the midfield situation last summer and the fact he continues to play Evans in big games is mystifying..
 
One good thing out of this game is that Evans will be suspended for 3 games!!!
 
1) Lost track of Balotelli for the first goal
2) Got sent off

Evans should NOT be playing when alternatives are available.
 
Its one of those things he acutally played well up to that point. I would much rather see the defender leave the striker there because I feel we would have more of a chance at 2-0 but with 11 men but it happens and the same thing has happened to Vidic before now.
 
He is not good enough... I really don't understand why SAF keeps playing him...

Paul Parker... Sylvestre... Brown... now Evans...
 
like what the commentator said, he is a accident waiting to happen, i cannot understand why he would want to pull balotelli shirt right at the start of the 2nd half....
 
I remember a while back when people were getting really excited about him, I said he clearly looks a good young player but we dont know yet whether he'll be "the next Ferdinand" as some were saying, or simply another good defender that came through like a Neville. At this point we should be happy enough if he serves the club over a period of time as well as the likes of Brown and O'Shea.

He hadn't played well up to that point at all. He looked a little short in this match actually. I've seen him play better against better opposition.

This was a bad match for him. I hate seeing him slip and get caught out of position it drives me NUTS!

We just got thrashed by City, so emotions are high and stupid things are said

We weren't comfortable when they play(ed) in defence... it's quite obvious... they don't give the composure our defence needs... e.g. I'd go for Vidic/Jones anytime v/s Evans...

exactly, how the feck do you put paul parker on there. obviously never saw the man play in his life. and brown too, brown was an excellent player for us, won us the champions league semi against barca in 08. completely random selection of players
 
Thing is evans looked positive in the beginning he was playing forward always and I like it till the sending off. He should have just let Balotelli in, we would have had better chance with 11 men. He also shouldn't be ahead of Phil Jones.
 
Its sad seeing the abuse he's getting as a player.

Fact is he's been really good this season. Problem is, he was simply retarded today.
 
I think he was good in the 1st(only) half. Kept Aguero silent and opened the game well. I still think there wasn't much of a touch with Balotelli but it's 2011 and Clattenburg so of course he got sent off.

I think questioning Evans' qualities and highlighting his propensity for making mistakes are not a consequence of emotions running high.

Did you think that Evans was NOT at fault today for letting Balotelli have a free shot for the first goal?

Did you think Evans was "unlucky" to get sent off for a clear red card offence?

When a defender CONSISTENTLY makes mistakes, it should be obvious that he should not be playing when better alternatives are available.
