John Murtough Sack Watch

Again, i'm not absolving Murtough of any blame but if you can't notice the same pattern between Murtough and those who have come before him then you're blind - the only thing that hasn't changed is the Glazers.

Again, Murtough is there, but what power does he really have? This is my point. He's just a face for you all to chuck your shit at when our recruitment is crap so that the Glazers, who make the real decisions, don't have to face your wrath.

After seeing Casemiro’s potential decline, sharing similarities to a list of transfers in the recent past, it’s a sensible choice. These type of short term gain signings make sense when you’re already at the top and there aren’t many holes to fill. We shouldn’t be signing 30 year olds for £100 million. It’s a shame they didn’t have the same realisation with Casemiro when Caicedo was available for the same price.

He's not a money man so I don't expect the decision whether to go for Kane or not to be his and his alone.

But this is just 1 scenario where they have meddled, you like it this time, but Joel also meddled in us not getting the likes of Caicedo and Thiago, there are many many many signings or non signings that Joel Glazer and the CEO have pulled stunts like this. So again I ask how can John Murtough get all the shit when this stuff is constantly going on?

Out of curiosity do you have a source for this? I think you missed my message on the first time of asking.

If we get new owners then there needs to be a whole new slate, Murtough, Arnold, Hargreaves all need to be shown the exit door and the best in footballing class whoever that might be needs to be brought in.

I am yet to come across one tangible positive that has come from having him in his post. He shouldn't be there.
The truth is we don’t really know what he does. The thing I will say is he gets deals done and at least we seem to be haggling teams down somewhat now instead of the famous Woodward way.

Are we talking Thiago Alcantara here?

Let me get this right. The upper management and entire scouting network, had 1 full year to scout players, and Hojlund is the only name they could bring to the table?

No, there plenty of names they put forward. Kim Min Jae, Tolibo (centre back), Amadou Onana, Exequiel Palacios, Tchouameni, Mattias Svanberg ( centre midfield). We can't pursue gecuase the Glazers do not put any of their money in to alleviate the ffp restrictions. Also, Maguire and Van De Beek did not leave, in order to get more money back in.

Considering all that, the recruitment department better shut their mouths then, as we are working within known restrictions.
We done our best and signed Amrabat on an £8m loan, to bypass said restrictions.

Is this thread based on anything or is this just a pure discussion ?

I told you. We can not sign anyone or anything of a standard until those two pieces of shyte brothers leave. The people need to gomfirst is those siblings.

That is the thing that people on here need to drill through their skulls.

God I so sick of everyone memeing us. Please start winning some games!

Mr. Murtough was appointed by David Moyes apparently or at least recommended. Murtough came from Everton, not Madrid or Bayern, Everton ffs. The record of this board since David Gill left has been pathetic. Shambles after shambles, getting their pants pulled down on every transfer it seems, signing dross like Falcao and Sanchez both who came for a pay day. If Sir Jim finally gets to buy the club, all of the board will be gone.

Sack this donkey. Who thought an Everton football director is a good idea at a club in the size and prestige of Manchester united?

He's a total failure hasn't done anything good and nothing he's implemented has come into fruition. It's just so typical of United to neglect the DOF role for decades and then promote someone as incompetent as John to spearhead the role.

Many of our current issues are down to his weak and inexperienced behaviour as a DoF.

It’s clear that Ten Hag only took the job on the basis we got rid of Rangnick and agreed to let him control our transfer approach, and gave him complete autonomy in general.

This is not how it is meant to work in a modern football club, and is just sustaining the same problem we’ve had for the last decade.

No continuity, no grand plan, and a constant cycle of squad rebuilds which go nowhere and dead wood constantly getting chances to prove themselves again.

Murtough should have stood his ground, or at least worked to a reasonable compromise when interviewing Ten Hag, and if it wasn’t going to work out we should have had the balls to walk away for the greater good and find someone else.

If Ten Hag leaves at some point this season the next manager has to take over a squad of Ten Hag players, along with whatever random assembly of players is left from the Jose & Ole eras.

It’s a complete mess, and that’s on Murtough.

Richard Arnold is out the door immediately, but I'm not hearing nearly as much as I'd like about the sacking of this fraud. He is as responsible as this manager, if not more so. His dismissal must be treated as a top priority and must be seen to as soon as humanly possible.

Put an Everton man in and we turn into Everton... surprise surprise.

I have no doubt he'll be out the door once INEOS take over sporting operations, and all the resident "Murtough Madness plan trusters" here will be left with egg on their faces.

Only ignorants thought he would do a good job.
We should give him a chance. He still might come good. We are a charity after all. Who cares about having well qualified people for the job?

Nothing unexpected. The geniuses who tried to convince us that Hojlund and Mount are good signing should be banned from the caf. There were posters running around the caf bullying anyone dare to question these signings. I was in shock as I thought how can they really be so sure, have they not learned anything from overpaying for average players?

Ya let’s write off a 20 year old striker 3 months in

Is Hojlund an average player? Or is he just too young and inexperienced to be relied upon week in week out in the PL? Because the latter is on the club.

We have zero knowledge if he is a player that is going to be anything special. But if we talk about the price, then yes, what I am seeing is nothing even close to what he was advertised to us by some fans here. Don't get me wrong, I like his attitude and I think he is a very professional player and far better than any player we have at the front in term of workrate. But 70m on him is sackable offence for this donkey that is calling himself "director of football".

Wasting 70+55 on him and Mount is a crime against football.

I don’t disagree that we hugely overpaid but that is on the club and hierarchy not the player himself. It’s way too early to judge him. He was always supposed to be the young back-up prospect with an experienced player coming in too, but we were sold a pup by the club and media. If Arnold and the Glazers grew a pair and negotiated hard with Levy we might have got Kane and good god how amazing would that have been.
Harsh to call Rasmus average though.

I hope he is not average, but I do not want to fool myself. I will not set the bar high for him.

Fair enough, but at 20 I don’t think he should have a bar, just be allowed to play.
Judging him based on his transfer price is a foolish method too. Let’s give him time to settle and judge him on his performances, which to now have been decent. A PL goal would be nice though! ;)
