I think City will dominate the league for the next 2/3 years at least.
I am not so sure. City had a really old central line last year already with Kompany (now gone), Fernandinho, David Silva and Aguero. Those are extremely important players for City. And we have seen how fast a team can decline when their key players age. We saw it with ourselves after Sir Alex last year, with Bayern just two years ago and arguably we are seeing the same with Real Madrid.
Everyone is stating regarding both us and your club that this summer window will be extremely important. And it will. But it will for City too, and while our squads are "easily" upgraded, City does not have it that easy. Not going to be easy to replace Aguero or Silva. Not to speak of Fernandinho.
I hope they have another year or so in them though, otherwise its going to be all Liverpool next year already.

Aguero is only 31, he's fine for now. Silva at 33 is bound to decline sooner than later but so far he's doing alright so I'd say he's a bigger issue for next season.
They need a CB and a DM, the rest is optional. Makes me really envious that they can address their replacements little by little and focus on a couple of players at a time, while we need to buy players in several key positions and get rid of even more. Certainly makes our transfer window way more complicated than for other clubs, with a board that has an abismal track record in transfer management.
I really hope they turn it around this time because this window has a now or never aspect.

No matter what happens, another season of development at Benfica wouldn’t hurt at all.

We shouldn't be in for him, really. He's just a young talented boy with potential and this isn't what our team needs, not for silly money at least. Ideally he'd be going somewhere under the radar to develop more not have some silly price tag slapped on him. It took time for even Ronaldo to come good once we'd signed him and I'd hate to see so much pressure put on him.

Struggling with the physical aspect but that's completely expected at his age. It's a hard game to play up front here as the Swiss are sitting in with 9 men and he has no room to operate. All part of the learning curve.

He's a lad with potential, sure. But folks here that are calling him the next Kaka are far off. Not a guaranteed star like Sancho for example. Certainly not worth £100m.

He's been uninvolved so far due to Portugal's poor midfield neither has Portugal created enough for him. He's only made 5 passes so far. I doubt he gets that amount of touches at Benfica. He probably made 5 times the amount of touches while playing for Benfica.

If you're paying over £100m for a player you want the finished article or near as dammit, not just a youngster with potential.

I'm not one to knee jerk but from what I've seen tonight I don't want to see him at United ever and i reckon he'll end up at tranmere. Ronaldo, though, what a goal. Sign him.

£100m? not on that performance. Work in progress still.

Decent on the ball. Should have scored despite the push from behind. Not much of a motor. Not particularly quick or fast.

More worrying is Fernandes. Horror tackle, several misplaced passes and bad crosses. If the like of him are going for 70m, we really are in trouble.

Can't base an opinion on this game, to be honest. The game as a whole has been pretty poor quality wise. Probably the first time a few have seen him outside of YT highlights though, so figures.

100 mil is a lot on potential though, United could do with spending that on more pressing matters right now. If we had a squad already competing we could afford the punt.

He's not worth 100 mil presently but I won't judge him on this match. First, he was deployed as a right forward when he's always at his best through the centre. Same happened against Frankfurt in the second leg when he was moved out of the central role and he didn't look as good as he was in the first leg when he was deployed in the central as a false 9 striker.

Secondly, he was hardly involved. He made only 5 passes because Portugal's midfield were awful and hardly involved him. What can you do with 5 passes?

The forward we should be buying is a right winger. Other than that we should be fixing midfield and defense I think they are a bigger priority

Definitely agree! we need to address the right hand side of our 11, for real. We've lacked any threat there for years. Add a cm, cb. Those four positions are more pressing indeed.

Never ever worth 120M right now.

Realistically anything over 50M for him is reaching. I say that because no one in Portugal has left for more then 45M and he has not done enough to warrant breaking that. The kid is still raw and needs to stay in Portugal to develop. Going to United and England Right now is career suicide.

The thing is benfica have so much pull and market that they know how to sell and hype him to get everyone’s antennas up in the air.

He was not as bad as that. Wasnt unreal either. Cannot see us going for him if we keep Pogba.

I would take him in a heart beat . He had a bad game big deal .the problem is , he is not the player to turn it around for United as he will need time to grow as a player and we have so many problems we probably wont have time for him to do that . He will end up at City or Athleti or some team like that and shine

To be fair, Portugal used a very long pass style in this match and Felix had little margin to pick the ball from behind.

We shouldn't go for either Fernandes or Joao Felix tbh. They just arent the profile of player we need. Essentially a false 9 who isnt particularly quick and 18 years old and a #10/attacking mid. We have Rashford, Martial and Greenwood if we want to have a u23 player with big potential to be our main striker, while a midfield 3 where Pogba isn't the most advanced player just doesn't work well IMO.

Same here. If this performance would reduce his price tag, I'm up for it. He was the least involved. What can a player do with the amount of touches he had?

True but like someone above said he should consider Athletico or City where there would be less pressure on him. At United for that money he would be expected to instantly produce the goods and lead the forward line. At city Aguero and sterling would still be seen as the go to guys.

Thought Fernandez looked worth 20m rather than 70

Can’t understand why a prem team hasn’t snapped up Carvalho big, strong ,clever and vastly experienced and still only 27 . By far the best midfielder tonight

Never rated him. Glad the hype can settle down, as it was getting ridiculous. He was being talked about as our saviour.

Not helped Benfica tonight at all. I know the price tag is slightly artificial as it’s a buyout clause not a real valuation but seriously ... anyone who pays that figure is getting robbed. It’s not purely about judging him on one game as such but £120m for a 19 year old, he needs to be special. Remember Rooney’s first few England appearances? Went onto international stage and delivered ‘wow’ performances a year younger. You saw something. Think of any teenage boy wonder, they all would have done the same. Don’t talk about nerves either ... if you’re that good you feel you belong ... take Callum Hudson-Odoi earlier this season. Get on the ball and make an impact.

How many times did he get on the ball though, like Rooney, Odoi did?

The Portugal's midfielders were mostly looking for Bernardo and Ronaldo in attack. That was why I said Bernardo should have been dropped into the midfield because that won't only make the midfield better but also, get one of the big names out of the attack (he is a midfielder anyway) hence Felix would have been more involved.

A young Rooney was the focal attack for England, likewise a young Ronaldo but Felix had big names in Ronaldo and Bernardo who were the focal point for Portugal's midfield who hardly passed to Felix. Only Ronaldo seems to have seen him.

Rooney was not the focal point of England’s attack at 18. And if he was heavily involved it’s because he got himself heavily involved, played like he belonged at that level and showed his teammates he could produce something, like Hudson-Odoi did, earning their trust. When Felix got on the ball, he looked nervous, bullied off it easily and out of his depth a little to be honest.
