Joao Felix | Signed for Atlético Madrid

I think when you underperform for a full season, that's actually about your level. If we went into next season with this squad i could pretty much guarantee we'd not get top 4.

I get the feeling you're one of these fans that still haven't reached the realisation that the rest of us have. I didn't think there'd be any left with such blind, misguided confidence. We've been poor for years now.

We were 2nd last season mate.

I hope Felix doesn't sign for City.

IMO he is one of the top 5 young players with promising future like Mbappe, Havertz, Sancho and De Ligt.

As other have said, we are not shopping in Harrods for the forseeable future. We should be looking at the sale items in Penny’s.

Keep doing this and your going to wind people up. Maybe Mod type people.
Old news mate. Twas last night. And I got my warning. Deserved.

But it highlights a point. Which is so many of these transfer threads are filled with comments that aren't even reactions to rumors. Just sour pusses dismissing United as any sort of aspiration for a footballer.

Apart from just being a traditional rival, how exactly are we challenging them ? And how many players would we stop them from signing? Our primary target should be to get back to top 4 and cement our place as a regular top 4 side. Then we can improve our options. He is not the last youngster to come out with huge potential.
Our primary target is to be better. If we let our rivals have a free run at all the best upcoming players in the world we'll have much bigger issues than fixing a back 4 in a couple of seasons time.

People on here are always going to complain about Jones, Smalling, Young etc but if we were averaging 3 goals a game the outlook would be a whole lot different than it is right now.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on this evening.
My bet is he has a worldie and the price goes up by £20m.

I can see the caf saying that Fernandes, Cancelo, Neves or Felix are overrated or the best next thing just by watching that game. Sometimes it seems that it's more important one game than what they did during a whole season.

If Pogba can go to United without champion league football, as world most expensive player. I think everything can happen to big club like United without champion league football.

Rashford is a top 4 player in every league in Europe. Adding Pobga and same level as that. United definitive is a big big candidate to top 4 every season.

Adding a strong central line like De Ligt, Kante and Felix...and maybe a new goal keeper for De Gea. You are building a top team.

Meunier - De Ligt - Lindelof - Shaw + Sancho - Kante - POgba - Martial + Felix + Rashford. If not Kante then you go after a player with same abilities, workrate and legs. Kante is gold and success. Kante has won premier league, world cup and European league. Now he is missing ch.league. Getting a player like Kante or Makele is key to success/a succesful team.

Felix is not a hype or overrate player. He price tag or buy out clause is overprice or too much. Felix is a true top quality talent and football player, at this moment and his current level.

£100m is a lot of money to spend on a player who has only played in the Portuguese league. I still find this over the top even in this market. With the way some people want to spend money on here, I wouldn't be surprised if you could make even PSG go bust.

Mbappe cost £140m because he had made an impact on the Champions League and PSG were involved in the transfer. His price was inflated by PSG's interest and desperation to buy him. Still, Mbappe had shown a lot more up to the date of signing for PSG than Felix has done so far.

A team that needs to rebuild cannot blow about half of its transfer funds on a player who is not really tested. Perhaps if you are already the best team in the world? Possibly, but not in the position we are in.

He has a release clause of roughly 120m, so good game or not, it won't really matter. Only concern would be other clubs take a bigger interest at that point, money won't be the issue in that case.

Sometimes you don't have to watch a player plays 100 matches or in the Championship League to see that he is special.

If he is special, in a few matches in the Portuguese league, you know he is special.

You rite. If he can help United to premier league title or ch.league then 120m will pay back. But to be honest. I think its Liverpool and Klopp era. And they are not a old team neither. So it will take some years to move them down from the thrones. Sir Alex, Wenger, Mourinho has their era. Pep now and Klopp has build a top steady football team. Liverpool will dominate and be on top for the years to come. Not sure how many years. But if Salah is leaving like Suarez, they will might fall back a bit.

So if Ole win premier league over Klopp and Pep. You need a lot a lot of factors and reasons that will make outbeat those two teams. Maybe not a good timing to taking over United. But its challenge...big big challenge. Its about the timing. Be at right place at the right time. Your time. Things are meant to happen. The script is already written in the stars. It will go your way. Like many good players come to United at the wrong time, when United was a struggling team and the ship was sinking. You alone will not make any different.

So there are clear signs. Liverpool in ch.league final last season and won this season. Consistent on top level. Its Liverpool and Klopp era. The era has begun....how long it will last, im not sure. But more than 3 years from now on for sure.

This is gonna be one of those missed out signings like Hazard where we look back and realise how much of a missed opportunity it was.

Mbappe is on another level. IMO he is the best young player in the world. Besides Mbappe, which young players do you consider better than Felix?

I still feel 60mil could seal the deal.

Doubtful. His release clause is 120 million euros and his club have been pretty clear that they wont take a penny less. The President was actually talking about trying to get him to stay another year and sign an extension with the intent to bump the release clause north of 200 million euros as they believe clubs will be happy to pay that with another years production. I think City will dominate the league for the next 2/3 years at least.

The president would always big up the price but at the end of the day, the price won't be more than 60 mil with some clauses driving it up to 80mil. He's yet to have Mbappe's performance in top flight. All he's done is in the Portuguese league so far.

I think at that price they will just keep him. 60 million is barely more than we paid for Fred and you are talking about one of the hottest attacking talents in Europe right now. The release clause is what it is and there is no way they won't hold out for it as his value is only going to increase.

How would that explain Dembele for up to 180M after a good season at Dortmund and at the same age? Was Countinho also worth similar figures in your opinion?

No doubt Mbappe is at the moment, but it is obvious it was still inflated at the time. I don't think Felix has shown any more than Sancho and Havertz (there are some others as well), yet Felix seems to be the only one being touted at £100m. He looks a good player, but I think it is too soon to spend that amount.

Barcelona have gone a bit mad with some of their signings. 108m starting fee (rising to 135m) for Dembele based on one season was insane, and he certainly hasn't shown he is worth anywhere near that at the moment.

I think the transfer fee was more understandable for Coutinho based on his Liverpool performances, especially being on more than one season. However, it was also overpriced as they seemed strangely desperate to sign him in the January window.

I just still think it is generally seen as overpriced to spend £100m on a relevantly unknown commodity. I mean Real Madrid have just signed Jovic for £57m, a guy who scored 27 goals at the age of 21. Is Felix really worth almost twice as much?

Dembele was €108m.

Why do people keep mentally inflating his cost?

Who's mentally inflating anything? @Untd55 and I both correctly stated 'up to'.

Its a crazy market, but Sancho is being valued at 100M as per the rumors when we were strongly linked with him and just days ago reports in Munich are saying Leverkusen have rejected a 90M Euro bid from Bayern for Havertz. All three players have done well and are close in contribution. Sancho had 13 goals and 15 assists in all comps, 28 goals he contributed to. Havertz had 20 goals 6 assists and Felix had 19 goals and 8 assists.

Pool will finish behind City next season in the Prem. They will not reach a CL final either.

Good chance to see Mendes' golden boy in action tonight.

Well there's plenty of techniques but who Will make the runs to create space? Guess we will have to find out
No one which means it will allow Switzerland to press us high up the pitch because no one will get in behind.

Gelson or even Bruma would of been great options.

On that note I hope Bruma goes to a club where his confidence can go up again. He is way too talented to be at the level he is at right now.

Agree with all that. Maybe it works if Switzerland is on holiday Mode.

this will only make sense if A)we sell Pogba and B) play 2 up top and C) play Lukaku as the main striker. Rashford and Felix would get about (10-25 goals max which is not enough for a front 2) And D) Felix hits the ground running instead of the usual oh he needs time nonsense. and E) He costs no where near the reported 100 mill fee

In other words it would be a ridiculous signing but hey he's shiney and the new Ronaldo so I say why not buy him and shove him out of position on the left. Or maybe he can replace Mata on the right.

Ronaldo.

Pizzi should have played on the wing. He's capable of carrying the ball over a long distance and evading pressure, so is Bernardo. Bruno Fernandes is a good crosser hence it could work out but I think Bruno is at his best as a no 10.
