Joao Felix | Signed for Atlético Madrid

Makes little sense? In the same breath you can say Martial also was better than Ronaldo when it came to his transfer but why does it matter?

Yes it matters in the context of the original conversation I was part of.

Let's not sign him then. Let's not bother signing anyone who may dream of signing for Madrid one day .

Actually we shouldn't have bothered signing Ronaldo then, what a complete waste of time that was.

I didn't say we shouldn't sign him. I just said he'd be off in 3-5 years. He's not going to be here for life.

So I reckon some people here are angry because JF is not CR7 hence we shouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
Allow me to say. There's no Ronaldo. No Messi. Probably no Iniesta too. There is not a single +18 player in the world right now that will be as good as these guys. Mbappe is the most obvious talent of this generation and he won't get there.
Some of this bunch will become great players. They will win Golden Balls, Champions Leagues, World Cups and all that. But they won't be on the same level as the aforementioned.
Stop this comparison nonsense. João Félix seems to be one of the greatest talents of his generation. That's what we are looking for. Comparing this generation with one that produced arguably the two best footballers of all time is pointless.

Not seeing the Kaka similarities much, who was quick and loved to carry the ball

This guys looks more like Berbatov

It has to be the hair. Kaká had a lot of flair so I think a lot of people forget he actually was a speed demon.

The funniest part of this thread is the fact that it's the Portuguese members (Benfica included) the ones with feet on the ground and with realistic views on Felix.
And the ones with less information about the player talk about him like he's gonna put CR7 and Messi to shame and maybe cure cancer on his part time.

How can anyone claim he is better than CR7 at the same age?
I'm pretty sure 6 months ago, when he already had 19yrs old , most of the people posting had never heard of him.
At 19, CR7 was already at United and playing with Portugal on a European final (2004)....and Felix has 0 caps.

No one said he's gonna put CR7 to shame or that but that he was far more developed than a young CR7 before his move to Manutd. If we were to sign Felix now, we would be signing a more matured player than a young CR7 hence he could slot into our starting 11 as quick as possible compared to a young CR7. We don't know how his career trajectory would be like. In fact, I'm not gonna equate him to the likes of Messi and CR7 hence why I said if he becomes as good as Van Persie and Zlatan, it's a good a career for him.

If we were competing for trophies, he would want to continue here. Even Hazard dialed back on his wanting to leave saga when it looked like Chelsea would be winning under Conte.

Not once have I watched him play a full game but I am going to get on the bandwagon since caf is so sure about him. Come on Woody what you waiting for?

Why would they? They have no reason to break up a winning team. Also he ain't a natural winger like sane.

If they get good money from Bayern, then coughing up the extra £30m or so for Felix would be doable. They do not have a reason, but if they are not able to renew Sanes contract, they will sell him now, rather than coming into a "1 year left on the deal" situation next summer. A situation we have experienced enough times, where the outcome is not always beneficial for the club.

City can have him. We have much pressing needs to take care of with an additional 100m.

We shouldn't be letting class players join our rivals because we have other pressing matters. If we can sign him and stop them strengthening then we should, regardless of price.

Apart from just being a traditional rival, how exactly are we challenging them ? And how many players would we stop them from signing? Our primary target should be to get back to top 4 and cement our place as a regular top 4 side. Then we can improve our options. He is not the last youngster to come out with huge potential.

Sane barely plays. They’d sell him and buy Felix to play through the middle so Bernardo can continue to play on the right until Aguero leaves. At which point either Jesus is ready or Felix takes over and they buy another winger.

Sucks that they plan for this kind of shit.

Wish we did.

Not for outrageous prices though. I think City are too smart to genuinely consider spending £100m on this lad anyway.

Come on now, we should have easily been top four this season. We were second last season and will be top four easy next season.

We should be sorting our shit out this summer and at least attempting a title challenge.

Disagree completely. You may prefer number 10 type of players and i do as well but Ronaldo was already obviously special. People think it's just hard work but it's in fact natural talent. His reflexes and footwork are not just acceleration or pace but how quick his nervous and muscular system works and reacts.

You may not like the style but, at least for us fans in Portugal at the time, it was clear that we were witnessing the birth of a super star. There is no such feeling with Félix. He's obviously talented but there have been many of his ilk before.

It's an easier gamble for city to take as well because their team doesn't need major work. He could be terrific and playing under guardiola will improve the chances of that, but United won't be able to afford a rebuild if the individual players cost that much. If the individual players do cost that much then the rebuild will take so long the players will be fed up and want to leave like Pogba before it's complete..

We cannot add players for such incredible amounts just to keep them of the hands of our rivals. Specially when they're bankrolled by state owned businesses from a country with a lot of liquidity.

We should only buy players if we think they're a valuable addition to our team

Might give us options but for a players whose main strength seems to be finding space I'm not sure the premiership for man United is the best choice. We would be playing park the bus teams 8 weeks out of 10 and most of our success vs big sides still comes on the counter where he appears to be slow, altho with lovely link up.

I'm what way should we have been top 4? We've been dreadful and didn't deserve it at all. That whole sentence just sounds delusional.

Even Pep is struggling to hide his emotions over Sane. He goes ape shit at most the shit Sane does by the touch line  No surprise Sane was reduced massively this season compared to last.

How do you see this being achieved? What do we currently have that will allow us to achieve this goal and what else needs done in order to do so?

Wouldn't mind him if the situation was a bit different and we had a solid foundation.

I haven’t seen him play a minute of football in my life but he has an aesthetic name that just rolls off the tongue, and my taxi driver from faro airport told me he was the next Ronaldo. Throw 100m at them please Woody.

Massively under-performed at the start and end of the season. It’s perfectly obvious.

I think when you underperform for a full season, that's actually about your level. If we went into next season with this squad i could pretty much guarantee we'd not get top 4.

I get the feeling you're one of these fans that still haven't reached the realisation that the rest of us have. I didn't think there'd be any left with such blind, misguided confidence. We've been poor for years now.

He makes finishing chances look easy, it doesn't matter what league you're in that skill translates over wherever you play. If he's available he's worth the money, he'd instantly be our best attacking player and he's young so his value will hold.
