Pretty annoying hearing about other clubs already making offers for players when we are still stuck with Mcfeckwit and the club can't buy players without really knowing who is going to manage here next year.

Yep, especially with the Euros cutting into the transfer window, acting quickly is important.

Indeed, really hoping that after the FA cup final we announce mourinho as the new coach and can start to wrap up some business because I'am already starting to have that feeling again that it will be a long and disappointing summer for us. And really if we feck things up now again and waste another season we could start to drop off big time.

Indeed, some clubs are already very active like:

Bayern Munich: Renato Sanches (Benfica), Hummels (Dortmund)
Dortmund: Dembélé (Rennes)
Inter Milan: Banega (Sevilla)

I haven't follow João Mário. Is he a better than Saul?

Latest on João Mário. Interview with his father, who is his agent and not Jorge Mendes (my bad)

http://www.record.xl.pt/futebol/fut...-mario-por-valor-acima-de-renato-sanches.html

Quick translation:

With a contract till 2020 and a release clause of 60 million euros, João Mário is one of Jorge Jesus indispensables. Sporting is already working on a wage improvement from 650k euros to 1 million euros per year but his father admits that he has recieved alot of approaches.

"We are going to evaluate them when we have a meeting with Sporting. Im at Luanda, but when i return on Thursday, we are going to talk. João Mário has offers but he can also stay. Sporting has estabilished a minimum value for talks and i can tell you it's superior to Renato Sanches value of 35 million euros. But it all depends on what the clubs want to offer and pay. Football is moment and the value of the players change according to the moment. João Mário has one value now but after the Euro it can go up or not."

The father of the Sporting midfielder also told that, in case his son leaves Sporting, João Mário's preference is England, country where there have been many approaches.

Thanks. Is it a flat 4-4-2 or a diamond like his Benfica side used?

Flat 4-4-2 with some variations depending on playing home and away (more defensive stance) with João Mário having permission to help in the middle.

As far as youtube compilations go, this chap's have to be the worst of all the currently hyped players. I've seen two now and came away from both thinking I've seen absolutely nothing special. And I'm expecting something of that sort given he's 23 and not 18.

Totally agree with you mate. Leroy Sane is a much better talent and City will get him while we go for Mario probably.

I agree with you guys, but maybe he's one of those players who doesn't look too spectacular yet always makes the right decision and progresses the play (like Modric or De Bruyne).

Unfortunately his performances in the Portuguese League aren't in the compilation because of copyright.

Even the starting clips of him walking backwards, wiping sweat off his brow were poor, completely average - don't want.

So all the clips are from a cup?
From the Europa League, Portugal U21's and international friendlies. Scoutnation has had this issue before when making compilations of players in the Portuguese league.

De Bruyne is a good comparison, he's effective not spectacular.

Modric is an extraordinary midfielder. His technical qualities are just magnificent. De Bruyne on the other hand has a pretty brilliant pass on him. I'd like to see a better clip. In these, this guy looks nothing special.

Not much of a season review if it doesn't include the competition where Sporting and him did better overall.

He looks completely ordinary from these clips. If we've really been watching him and Sane there's no contest.

He's brilliant, easily the player I'd like to sign Liverpool the most this summer apart from Götze. He completely blew me away in their friendly against Belgium, watched him a couple of other times with Sporting after that and he was consistently very good again. Like others said, nothing spectacular but he has quick thinking and a good decision making, good delivery and a lot of composure.

I haven't watched Sané at all so don't know who the better bet would be right now, but João Mário isn't exactly a young talent anymore of course. Still, he obviously has room for development and would improve any side in England, imo. The comparison with KdB is apt.

Changed agent from Jorge Mendes to Kia Joorabchian by all accounts, Abramovich's buddy

don't think I've ever seen more average skillshow than this, don't understand the hype, looks more like a player who needs to take a smaller step forward than to a a big club of our size.. hows this wonderkid carvalho doing btw?

Luckily scouts actually watch full games then, and not base their decisions on YouTube clips.

That's good to hear (if we sign him).

Sadly they don't post here.

Looks like we will have to watch a Portugal friendly! Got a feeling he is a very tidy player minus the shit YouTube vids.

Joao Mario better than "Renato sanches" been anonymous.

Underwhelming against both England and Iceland. Right now I see no reason to pay the sum of money being asked for him.

Can we lock this thread? Mourinho stated he wants no players from Portugal. Can be interpreted as either Portuguese league or Portuguese player. This guy being both. Also he has been wank for all the games, we caught lately. Make Fellaini potential better player!

After watching him for the 6th time, my opinion on him hasn't changed a bit, just a Portuguese Fabian Delph.

Hardly touched the ball in the 1st half when Portugal was all over Iceland. Touch the ball more in the 2nd half though but got dispossessed 4 times! Only notable contribution are 2 hopeful crosses.
