Jesse Lingard | Seoul singer

One year contract?

That's some level of committment. "Ok, I come play for you but only this season because I must have given Real Madrid a wrong number to reach me this summer"

He's like Eriksen without having died.

The source is his contract!

His last contract was signed on £75k a week, any media outlet, sports wages tracker, reputable leak had stated this to be the case.
Certainly he would have earned bonuses on top, but judging by the fact he neither scored not assisted much for us recently these would not have been hit.
I really don’t care if he was on 100k or 75k but all the outlets said 100k FYI.

Looking forward to the Robin Hood themed JLINGZ merchandise becoming available!

I absolutely love it that this clown who thought he has such an inflated ego that he thought all of europe's top clubs would be in for him on a free only got offers from the likes of DC United, West Ham (who refused to pay him this much) and Nottingham Forest was his best offer. I hope it shows all the people who thought he was good enough for us that the rest of the world knows what his level is, and it's a team that's fighting relegation.

He and Pogba thought they we're getting big deals. One ended up at Juve on a massive pay cut and the other joined a club who haven't been in the PL for about 20 years.

Fair enough. I really have no idea how he’s going to perform over the season; his spell at West Ham was brilliant to start off with but rather fizzled out towards the end, and he’s never really shown that he can maintain any sort of consistency.

There’s no doubt that his annoying off-field antics tend to drive people into underrating him as a player, and he’s always shown that he isn’t afraid of hard work. If he does help to keep them up it will certainly be money well spent and I’ll have no problem cheering him on. It’s a risk, certainly, but then what signing isn’t?

As an aside, one of Jesse’s few obvious strengths at United was his off the ball movement. He was unlucky that neither Jose nor Ole were interested in exploiting it. Had we replaced LvG with EtH his career may well have been a good deal more successful.
Yes, his off the ball movement and link up play are by far his biggest assets and I think he’ll be working his balls off for the reasons stated in my last post; he doesn’t even have to care a jot about Forest as it’s purely in his own interests to graft and shine there, but doing so, he’ll facilitate others in that team and better link the midfield to the final third. His game doesn’t just benefit him; he’ll open up the field for anyone in that Forest team that can play a bit or exploit the openings his runs create.

I have literally no interest in his off the field ’persona’ - I think I’ve only seen the bus incident - so I am looking at it purely from the footballing aspect, and in that regard, he’s a calibre or two above what a newly promoted team can expect to entice, or afford, so it’s common sense on their end to take the risk and not just wing their first season back with a group of players unknown and untested at this level. It’s probably lost in the vitriol that when he was ‘loved’ with us, he really tried his very best, but he wasn’t good enough to maintain a significant position in rotation. He again repeated the output and effort at West Ham and shone a level below; Forest fans will love him if he grafts for the team and he’ll reciprocate with effort like he’s always done - as said previously, he’s not going there to coast and he’s playing for far greater stakes than this short-term contract - if this isn’t the hardest working iteration of himself, I’ll be surprised.

I'm glad for him. After all his pining to return to West Ham and posting pictures of himself in West Ham kits, it's good that he's finally managed to get his dream return...to Nottingham Forest.

I actually think he coukd do well there, but if not at least by the time we play them their starting line up will probably be getting leaked to the press the day before the game.

Best of luck to the lad. Came through as a very promising player, gave us (and West Ham and England) some very good performances but ultimately not up to the task. His social media personality never helped but the idea he was a 'League 1 player' was always a joke (as it is with so many of our 'failed' players, McTominay says hello). Wishing him all the best at Forest.

For me we really need to stop branding our failed youth players as disasters. For instance Jesse was always a PL player and to be honest if that shitbird Brewster got 20m then Scott is worth 50m. Just because they ain't a CL/title winning player doesn't mean they are "shit". To be honest a lot of them are very much good enough for a midtable PL team.

The media wanted us to believe there was this huge battle for him between the biggest clubs and what a poor club United is for letting him go.

I want him to do well in spite of his behavior last season, but his friends in the media can do one.

Incredible amount of hate for an acadamey graduate who always gave his best. Some of you lot need to pull your heads in.

Great signing for Forest, he'll be a key player for them and I hope he does well.

I gather he’s a bit immature and posts stuff on kids’ social media platforms that I’m the best part of 50 years too old to have any interest in. It does seem to me that in the New Puritan age we inhabit at the moment people go out of their way to find and investigate stuff that is going to offend them, so that they can publicly show off their outrage.

I also gather that he’s one of the more likely suspects for leaking stuff to the press. Which is inexcusable, but the club were idiots to stockpile so many fringe players who were liable to get bored and disaffected.

Forest will be for most of our second team in PL I guess because they hate Liverpool even more than we do.

 WATCH THIS VID TO BECOME ENRAGED (you don’t have to)!

Yes he has a few avenues from which the ire is earned or put upon him, but surely if you’ve seen one inane vid, you’ve seen them all?

Objectively, he’s a player far beyond Forest’s current level, and there will be a strong sense of irony if the one deemed a manchild turns out to be the talisman that keeps them up!

Indeed. I’m very glad he’s no longer our player, but will be delighted if he does well at Forest. Hendo likewise.

Ummm.... highly debatable.

Not to get into a petty debate, but every place I have looked says £75k was his wage.

That includes Spotrack, salarysport, planet football, the times, guardian, teamtalk and countless others.

But hey ho.

I just Googled and it was all goal.com, bleacherreport, Eurosport, Jim White , and Skysports just to pick the first ones I see. Regardless happy to believe it was 75k.

Yeah, it was consistently reported (by various more or less legit * sources) as being around there: 85k was the "average" I came up with when researching United wages some time ago. The highest estimates would be around the 100k mark.

* As far as I know, there are no 100% legit sources for player salaries.

I made few posts on how wages are reported, imo fans are easily manipulated.

No doubt.

Wages are potentially very tricky - and they aren't easily accessible to journos, so there will be all kinds of guesstimates involved even when generally "serious" sources report them.

Yeah and journalists have agenda too.

Only thing matters is total wage bill reported in official accounts.

It will be interesting to see how JLingz manages his social media presence and crap merch peddling. Hardly likely that Forest supporters will lap it all up.

He’s already called us “Notts Forest” on Twitface or tickybook or whatever the kids use. He’s on his last chance.
