He really thinks he's done it all and its like he doesn't realize he's really limited as a player to say the least.
This. It is something that bugs me the most. He is totally average player but he is acting like he is some superstar

I hate him so much. No transfer in would make me as happy as seeing him sold or released on a free

Such a dislikeable personality. Needs to grow up and get out of the club. Mediocre player acting like he has the football world at his feet.

Knew he was fecked ever since he used the Liverpool derby to promote his shitty clothing brand. Still not sure why we gave him a 100k a week contract when no-one else would be willing to match it if he was to leave? Why overpay for such average talent?

He should be the one paying Manchester United for giving him the chance to release the whole Jlingz brand... well atleast part of the profits!

Yeah at this point I am convinced Ed has shares in all these clothing brands our superstars create. No other explanation why they get new contracts.

It's what we do and we do it better than anyone else.

Where are people getting that Lingard is arrogant. Like this is just pure speculation from toxic fans. He doesn't even handle his own social media posts. Is he skipping trainings thinking he's too good for them? No, he's one of the hardest workers we have. It's so baffling to see players get called this and that based on nothing but angry fans wanting some symbol to offload their problems and anger into.

As other posters have said, JLingz (WTF is that by the way) is as basic a player as it gets, TC23 replica is spot on! When he's finally shown the door I fully expect him to end up at Everton, West Ham or another mid-tier team. We have had a few of 'em, does our backroom staff not remind our young players (JLingz is feckin 26) of the failed superstars like Darron Gibson, TC23 etc.

I don't really mind the rascal clothes, try-hard hats and glasses we see Lingard in. Feck perhaps he should wear the glasses when he plays if he needs 'em. I remember getting the old United mag and Giggs, Ince & Sharpe had some shockers on. I have one memory of Giggs when we won the league 1992/1993 black & white stripped jacket boke! also one of him with Fergie, Giggs in a nasty checked number aged 19, picking up the ‘Barclay’s Young Eagle of the Year’

Here's how I see it and I thought the very same thing when Rooney was looking to leave the second time. Who the Feck will be interested in any of these players once the don't have the Red shirt of United on, seriously guys, tell me who??

I remember hearing, not that I cared, that when new players join United their social media noise goes off the chart FS, like by 10's of thousands if not more. In short, even in todays climate, leave United and its only one way from here, down I'm afraid.

Wow, short memory! Don't you remember those weird little chipped passes?

I remember them well, and that strange way he had of striking the ball when passing, but Lingard has fallen off the chart in the last 12 months. In reality, neither of them should be anywhere near a top club.

I have a genuine question about Lingard, shouldn't he play in center midfield in a trio? He may be small but he plays with energy, he respects instructions and has a decent technique. He isn't really an attacker and doesn't have attacker's tools. Could he become a poor's man Milner?

Yes, provided that he is playing for Liverpool. That should ensure they don't win any trophies for a while and they can have him for nothing.

He has the strength of a small child, so not really comparable to a powerful player like Milner. He'll get run over by in midfield like Mata does.

I thought milner was a poor mans milner? As for jlingz, I dont see what you see, so Id have to say no. More than happy to be proved wrong since hes not going anywhere. Ill never like him, but I dont need to if he plays well. If he can play well in a deeper role, then great. But it seems its the rooney problem all over again. He cant do what hes supposed to be doing, so we look to show horn him in other places because hes popular. We arent going to get anywhere with that attitude.

I think so too, zero physicality and doesn't even move the ball that quickly or intelligently. He'll move around to find space but what he does on the ball doesn't mark him out as a b2b midfielder for me.

I don't really see much, I'm just wondering where he could play outside of the attacking positions where he clearly doesn't have the tools to perform consistently, he isn't creative, he isn't a dribbler and he isn't finisher. He is useful at the bottom of the squad because he can do a job in multiple positions but I'm wondering where he could be more than the 25th player in the team. I think that he has more tools to play in center midfield but the strength argument is valid and probably why he struggled to go from youth to senior football.

When he does make a run through the lines and onto goal and the ball finds him, his first instinct is to flap his baby bird wings and fall down at first contact with the defender. Shits himself every time he gets the ball in those situations.

His game is he wants to make runs away from the ball so that someone else will receive it in dangerous positions because he doesn't have the confidence to do anything with it. Unless that thing is to just put his laces through a ball like any amateur footballer likes to do.

You're not a fan then? :smirk:

His best games for me came as an attacker, such as when he was up with Rashford in a 352 vs Chelsea in 2017, moving between the lines with Chelsea not having a clue how to pick him up. He also came off the bench in 2018 in the same fixture to score the winner, with a header(!) from a Lukaku assist. He can be dangerous in and around the box, and my worry if he dropped deeper would we would a. see less of him popping up and b. have to endure him trying to defend in the middle, where I fear he'd be shrugged off and/or given the run-around by decent opposition.

In the context of a poor season last term I know it's difficult to think of any position he would thrive in for us, but should he get into any kind of form I'd want to see him more as an option across the front line rather than have him dropping back into midfield to be overrun and bullied.

What position does he play for England? I seem to remember the sun(I know, I know) saying that he was doing a job there. If that’s the case, then perhaps that’s the answer to the Jlingz problem.

Mainly as an attacking midfielder but it's the same type of job that he does for us. I'm more wondering if there is a way to make him actually good.

Oh well. I mean, he’s not going anywhere, so it makes sense that ole should try whatever it takes to get the best out of him.

The Lingard conundrum is solved very easily; leave him in the reserves long enough and the trash will take itself out.
