Park was a legit good player though. He had far more to his game than just “putting in a shift”, he was an intelligent footballer with good technical ability. It took him to the very top. Lingard just isn’t on that level.

With Lingard we are constantly making excuses. When he plays at RW he's shit because he is a CAM. When he plays there or is given freedom to roam, it's because he should be played in MF like he plays for England.
Liverpool signed Shaqiri as back up. Spurs signed Moura. City have Sane and Mahrez on the bench. Some United fans are happy with having Lingard as a squad player. In reality, thats nowhere near good enough for a team to compete anymore. It shouldn't be a worry this summer. However, the following summer he should be moved on and a proper replacement should be signed. He only plays because Mata is ageing, he is English, from the academy and we have no other RW. Any top player can offer all the 'movement' Lingard does and more technical ability. His movement is also overrated, he hardly arrives in the box on time. Just a very average player, as shown by his loan spells to championship clubs. He benefited from the years of underinvestment leaving massive gaps in the team. He cant cross, is a poor finisher, cant take players on and his vision is limited. All he does is put a shift in, find pockets of space and play the ball sideways. By no means is he a late bloomer or it had anything to do with physicality, players like Mata and Silva did fine in the same league.

Lingard has been very good for us at times. Scored in two cup finals for us. He went on a run of scoring worldies for us last season. He’s been in bad form for a long time now. He’s fine as a squad but he’s starting to many games for us at the moment, in my opinion.
