Probably because he isn't that young. If it was a 19 year old doing it they might find it funny, but he is a grown man who really needs to grow up.
Exactly, which make it even more embarrassing.

I would honestly use Lingard as a makeweight in any deal involving Maguire or Maddison. I dont think Leicester would be that keen, though.:nervous:

Maybe so, I think the point more people are making is that he's an average footballer coming off the back of an awful season, playing for a club he has supported all his life and constantly puts shite like this on. I'm not worked up by it he can do what he wants but equally when I see it I and others are entitled to comment on it and if they think he's a bellend for the videos then so be it.

I don't get how it's self righteous at all? I don't think I'm any way superior to the guy I just think he's an absolute knob. I honestly don't get why people can't point that out? He's a celebrity with millions of followers over social media platforms, he puts the daft videos he does on he's going to get comments on them.

At the end of the day the football club is a passion for millions of people, plenty of people spend thousands of pounds a year to watch them and are well within their rights to criticise the players. Lingard is well within his rights to call his mates beans and pretend to shag pillows as well but when he shows it everyone else he's going to get comments.

It's just a video of some young men arsing around in their hotel room. They obviously find it funny and I'm sure many of the people it's aimed at also find it funny. I don't find it funny but I'm not the demographic it's intended for. It also has no bearing whatsoever on my opinion on Lingard, Rashford or Williams as footballers. It's not as though they'r even being unprofessional. I might have felt a bit different if there was a video of them up all night, slamming tequila but there's not a bottle of booze in sight and the main thing they're taking the piss out of Rashford about is how much sleeping he's been doing! I just don't get it. Why does the video wind people up?

I’d say I’m surprised at people getting worked up over such a banal video but nothing surprises me about how self righteous football fans get on social media (and, increasingly, on here) any more.
I think it’s just the fact he’s rubbish and we’re rubbish at the moment it doesn’t help things. If we were coming off a successful season we wouldn’t be talking about the video.

First of all I am not angry about it, I am disenfranchised with everything about the club at the moment. But for those who think it doesn't matter, how many Liverpool or City players do you see do this shit? It's emblematic of a club that has run amok. I have no doubt SAF wouldn't stand for it. No one at this club has authority. Do you see anyone at the club telling this twat to sort his shit out? He just had one of the worst seasons of his career ffs.

Spot on

Big feck off bottle of Disaronno next to "Beanz" bed! I won't judge him for that though probably needed that to knock himself out as the guy next door is constantly shagging pillows.

I don't think the conduct is unprofessional I just think you're a celebrity posting stuff like this on Facebook or whatever you're going to get scrutinized for it, it's done for attention and he got attention just negative from certain aspects. Surely that's fair enough? People are allowed to comment whether they like it or not aren't they? I think videos like this are just weird, maybe it is an age thing but it's just painfully unfunny and all a bit embarrassing.

Again I think the wind up probably does come more from the fact he's an average footballer doing it and people see it and assume he doesn't give a feck. That probably isn't the case as he seemingly does try when he plays but people will still get wound up about it as it does look pretty bad on the club they support. Maybe we're stuck in the old days cos Fergie wouldn't tolerate it....but then equally that's when we were ridiculously successful (albeit I don't think Lingard calling someone beans has anything to do with his ability as a footballer.)

Yeah we probably won't, but United (and Lingard) are coming off a really poor season. He was doing similar stuff at the end of last season and it was tolerated more cos he actually played well for a large part of it.

Don't you think that this is where the lines get blurred? He is supposedly a footballer first and foremost. Yet he is going to become more famous for the videos he posts online. He never used to be this bad, it is like he appears to be believing he is a lot better than he is, because he is a Manchester United player and his posts have got worse and worse. I am actually like a few starting to believe the club encourage this rubbish and it is not showing us in a good light. Somebody really needs to rein him in and tell him that even in the close season he is still representing the club and the responsibility that holds.

Pretty much exactly how I feel.

I think we need to get rid of him now. He's clearly popular enough to influence other players and he gives the impression he's more concerned with his status as class clown than his professionalism. Other players in the past with 'personality' like Cantona and Rio have been totally driven to succeed whereas there's nothing on or off pitch that suggests Lingard works that way.

I agree with people saying if we were successful and he was a great player, no one would care. But isn't that the point? Part about maturity and discipline is knowing when something it okay and when it isn't. Context matters and it's also being self-aware. Our two closest rivals won all that there was to win lat season while we finished 6th. You've also cime off the back of the worst season of your career, fans are hurting like crazy. On a personal note, I am not upset. I care too little about what is going on with the club at the moment to be. But you honestly can't fail to see why some would have a go at him.

Yeah I agree, I don't like the term celebrity in certain circumstances but I think here it's fair. Footballers are allowed to use Instagram like everyone else and post pictures and get exposure/likes whatever. But Lingard quite clearly wants that level of celebrity with the videos. I think he's well aware what he does and they get him attention (positive or negative.) Look at the Arsenal stuff how he always bags against them and then he did the whole dancefloor stuff...which was quite funny in fairness.

I'm surprised the club aren't telling him to tone it down, I agree with football fans being fickle and I'd include myself in that. I think things at United could turn nasty for certain players soon if they have a couple of poor performances cos of non footballing stuff on top of the performances and I'd say Pogba and Lingard are probably the top 2 in that category.

The problem for Jesse as well is when you get the club resigning the perfect gentleman in Juan Mata and others posting videos of them in the gym getting themselves in good shape for the coming season.

His heads gone. Must have been a private post that went viral for everyone to see.

I doubt he’s that stupid. But who knows.

I just saw his social media video . This clown has to be chucked out of our club he is everything that is wrong with the modern day footballer . His performances on the pitch are nothing short of pathetic he is a spoilt over paid lucky footballer . He gets alot of support because he is home grown but he should get zero support. Keane was 100% spot on its players like him who are the main reason our club is where it is .

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're actively encouraging him. I mean, it's the same with the social media generate by the club itself. When we're doing well, they get loads of positive responses but when we're shit the replies are invariably toxic. However, they can't and won't shut down their social media campaigns just because we're absolutely useless on the football pitch. That's not the way this sort of shit works. All that matters is keeping "the brand" front and centre in everyone's minds.

The club's marketing bods are probably pleased to have a first teamer who is social media savvy and consistently generates content which gets loads of views and interactions. Obviously, the fact the club is going through such a grim few months in terms of results and performances has soured absolutely everything. That's not going to stop MUFC relentlessly churning out "content", whether that's the marketing department directly, or players using their own social media accounts to reach out to the fans more directly. Whether we like it or not.

He just sums up the state of the club at the moment. We pay this lad over £100k a week to represent the club.

We wouldn't care if we were successful and he was posting these videos, some would maybe even find them funny. At the same time it's no wonder we're not successful when players like him are the 'leaders' in the dressing room.

Renewals for mature heads like Mata and Young make more sense when you see what Ole is dealing with.

I think I would rather see Young as our main RB next season than Lingard anywhere near our team.

Do you really think Mata and Young can put Lingard in line? There's no one on the playing staff that has authority over these players.

Yeah that's partly the worrying thing cos it's a weird image that they want to portray with stuff like this. I equally can't imagine that last video they're happy with due to the swearing, pretending to shag a pillow. The "beans" stuff kids may like I dunno but I honestly don't know how the club would want a video like the last one shown really. The "beanz" one is probably different....that started during the PSG game and people didn't mind it then so I do agree with the sentiment it's more tolerable if we're doing well.

I agree with the sentiment when it's other videos, there was that one a while ago where he played football with the kids for example is obviously a positive image for the club, the rest of the stuff not so much.

The videos don't bother me like I said, they just make me happy I don't know him to be honest as I imagine he's absolutely intolerable in person. I just think videos like the recent ones aren't needed maybe I don't like it cos he absolutely craves attention judging by them and anyone like that I just don't like.

No I don't (and I wouldn't have renewed either) but you need a group of players to set the standards.

If Roy Keane was in the changing room.....;)

But I agree,we dont seem to have those individuals who have that authority, influence and respect within the team. Ideally Lingard should be one of them.He knows the club as good as anyone. He's been through the mill mentally and physically.
I'm sure he was written off before he even stepped foot into United's training facility at Carrington all those years ago due to his lack of height and physical assets.
As we all know there were continual doubts about whether he'd make a good professional career in this sport.

Which is why things like this can be so annoying and unneeded.
As a fan mentioned above. Lingard seems to be totally lacking in self awareness.

For all we know, though, Lingard is setting the right standards in terms of professionalism. All the metrics on work rate show him as the hardest running player (top 2 or 3 anyway) at the club so he's obviously fit as a fiddle. Plus, for someone who is obviously a complete addict to social media, the fact we never saw a single video of him out on the piss during the season (or even out partying, without drinking booze) must mean he's actually pretty dedicated to the lifestyle of an athlete. Now he may well be not good enough but people seem to be deciding that him acting like a prat on snapchat is evidence of him not being committed or working hard enough but that's just jumping to conclusions, without any proper evidence to back up that opinion.

I'd say there's no may about it.

He isn't good enough.

The social media criticism is daft though I agree, it's silly too because it takes away focus from his performances on the pitch where he does deserve criticism.

I know it's a bit pedantic getting worked up by some players' social media. But being homegrown and supposedly "gets the club", Lingard surely has to know how fans of Man Utd will feel after such a poor season.
And he's coming of his worst season.

But my dislike for him has always just been about him as a player. Plays in a front three, doesn't turn with the ball, doesn't take players on, doesn't take risks. And as a result has the lowest assist total I could imagine a United playmaker could muster. His lauded movement has been found out by rivals, he doesn't pull players out of position as they seem not worried when he drifts between the lines.

Hopefully he'll fade into a less used, squad player role, I want him sold but that's not looking likely for the next couple of years.

He got plenty of criticism last season. His average rating here is 4.8 out of 10 (similar score to how he ranks his room in the video!) It's just we're not playing any games so now he'll just get criticised for the social media stuff. He does put cringing stuff on during the season but it isn't normally this bad. I'd guess cos he isn't on the piss during the season as much. Might not be able to handle his drink or whatever else.

Yeah you're right.

It's Utd fans still hurting over what a complete nightmare last season was.

It's understandable really.
