Yeah you would hope so, but the merch side of the club now is non negotiable
Do any kids wear Lingard tops? I'd agree if it was Pogba, all my mates who have kids that are United fans all love Pogba and I see plenty of others about with Pogba tops, I honestly don't recall seeing 1 Lingard top or anything ever on anyone of any age except Lingard himself. Maybe his social media activity raises awareness of him, it probably doesn't do much for the club.
Cantona kicked a Palace fan. Rojo was in court for bottling someone when we signed him. You could name 100 things Rooney has done but he's a United legend. I could go on and on.
Lingard posts stupid videos. Big deal.
Cantona is obviously going to get a pass from United fans, he's one of our best ever players and backed up stuff like that on the pitch. I agree with the sentiment of bottling someone obviously being worse but people can still comment that they think Lingard is a tit, they're hardly comparable incidents.
Lingard is putting this stuff on social media then it gets shared everywhere so people are bound to see it and comment on it.
I’d say I’m surprised at people getting worked up over such a banal video but nothing surprises me about how self righteous football fans get on social media (and, increasingly, on here) any more.
Maybe so, I think the point more people are making is that he's an average footballer coming off the back of an awful season, playing for a club he has supported all his life and constantly puts shite like this on. I'm not worked up by it he can do what he wants but equally when I see it I and others are entitled to comment on it and if they think he's a bellend for the videos then so be it.
I don't get how it's self righteous at all? I don't think I'm any way superior to the guy I just think he's an absolute knob. I honestly don't get why people can't point that out? He's a celebrity with millions of followers over social media platforms, he puts the daft videos he does on he's going to get comments on them.
At the end of the day the football club is a passion for millions of people, plenty of people spend thousands of pounds a year to watch them and are well within their rights to criticise the players. Lingard is well within his rights to call his mates beans and pretend to shag pillows as well but when he shows it everyone else he's going to get comments.
