He has 13 career assists, what exactly is he going to keep on doing? What has he actually done so far?

Playing for us nearly every match.

Ole’s fascination with Lingard is one of the most worrisome and concerning aspects of his prospects as our manager.

And probably why fans hate Lingard so much. The fact that he seems to be getting rewarded for being shit at his job. The fact that he is also an epic bellend just makes it that much more salty.

I think you're misunderstanding @redcafe_reader here. He's not supporting Lingard, he's actually saying that because Lingard is one of Ole's favorites, Ole will keep on selecting him to the detriment of the team.

People are actually upset/annoyed at posts like that

The stuff you see from him can be cringe but who fecking cares

Some of the hate him and Rashford are getting is absolutely disgusting, yeah sure we’ve had a bad season and Lingard isn’t good enough to be a starter here but feck sake man people need there heads checked if a 26 year old guy enjoying life gets them this wound up.

People saying him singing and dancing reflects badly on the club so we should sell him, you do realise you support the club who stood by a man who assaulted a fan ffs, and stood by a defender who missed a fecking drugs test, or does it not matter because they happen to be very good players?

This has been said before in this very thread, if he delivered on the pitch people would care less what he does off it.

bringing attention to himself while being absolutely shit on the pitch doesn't do him any favours.

He deserves the stick cause he is shite.

Imagine thinking you're entitled to shout abuse at someone because they're not up to your arbitrary standards in a fecking sport.

Yeah that's right. I did say I hope he will be sold in my post, think he's missed it.

That would be 2 down, 1 to go.

Since we are supporting a football club, yeah that fecking helps a bit don't you think?
Ah ok, so Jesse Lingard saying beans on Twitter is deeply embarrassing and worth being sold over because he’s average. But Eric Cantona (who I loved btw) Kung Fu kicks a Crystal Palace fan and it Doesn’t?

He deserves the stick he gets? Are you sure?

I’ve seen various things on twitter saying that him and Rashford should die, Homophobic remarks, that they would never tire of punching them , all that is deserved because he’s not as good as you want them to be?

United fans are genuinely becoming as toxic as the CEO we all love to hate.

Because football is all about assists? He does not have 13 career assists too.
When you're a link up player and your career assists at the age of 26 are 14 (Google it if you don't believe me) and you're not scoring goals what exactly are you offering? And no, his movement and running isn't brilliant either.

You've increased it from 13 to 14, and you're still wrong. He offers a few goals too.

 Because I just counted them and I missed one but that's still 14 career assists, it's not going to go up because you're in denial about it. Yep, you're right, 17 career goals for United since 2011. Blistering...

What are the correct figures then? I'm pretty sure they are poor for goals and assists given the time he has been with us and his age

I think he deserves stick yes, but what you said would be abuse.

I see a difference in the two.

Appearances (sub) - Goals

111 (47) - 28
13 (5) - 5
6 (2) - 4
24 (9) - 4

That is full career to date, not including England.

It is poor viewing for ANY attacking player.

I don't expect Lingard to get goals and assist when playing off the right. When he hit his best form he played as the number 10. It's not a coincidence. He is a good player.

So what do you expect from a player on the RW?

And no, he is not a good player.

 Indeed

I don't think Lingard is the devil incarnate or 'everything that's wrong the club', as honestly if we had to compile that list we'd be here all week and any one player would be nowhere near the top of it, but this profile he and his marketing people have built up for him has definitely become something of a hostage to fortune. There's no escaping the reality that an underperforming United player as part of underperforming United squad cannot endear himself to fans by messing about on social media and marketing himself as a brand.

Possibly not, but he is not good enough as a #10 to be a starter at ANY top club in world football.

His level is mid table at the very best.

He was the number 10 when we finished 2nd. His output that season fell off when he was moved deeper to play a more compact 3 man midfield.

Him being shit at football is why he should be sold. And being a nutter is generally more forgivable than being a bellend or a fanny because the latter rarely if ever translates to a winner’s mentality.

Just United fans?

If your team isn’t winning, sorry to break it to you the players will get abused and it will go way over the top that’s social media for you. Look how Arsenal fans on social media gave Wenger so much abuse.

It’s not just United fans. When your team isn’t winning then players and managers will get abused. Twitter and other social media are filled with toxic comments.

Ah the reason we finished 2nd was Lingard!

No we finished 2nd because other teams were just as shit as we were, his miserly output had sweet fa to do with it.

I never said he was the reason. Clearly though if people actually watched us play they would be able to see the patterns and positional play from the players but they were busy crying about us not attacking enough. As if this team was capable of much more going forward.

Press more, push more players forward though or something.

Ah, the old #10 argument, Boy have I missed you. That is probably his best position, but he has absolutely no business playing that role at United as he is shite. End of.

Our game plan going forward is non existent that is easy enough for anyone to see.

Watching Lingard though this is what I get - Run in behind a lot and keep defenders busy but never actually show for the ball, if wanting the ball come into a wide open area just to pass it back 3 yards to the guy who just gave it to you.

Every now and then he will score a decent goal and everybody raves over him and forget that for 90% of the time he does absolutely nothing.

It is a sad state of affairs when he can be classed as a good player.

Except when he did we were getting results. Maybe people should wake up to the actual quality of the squad and realise that Lingard at number 10 is one of our better options. Never said he was world class or that he should start every game, but it is what it is.

False.

He is a good player and every manager picks him.

I think everyone can agree that homophobic slurs, calls for him to die etc are not acceptable. But people thinking he shouldn't be getting stick are on another planet. If he was a Real or Barca player and they had the kind of season we had while their two biggest rivals, won the lot, he would be run out of town.

Absolutely, there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. But as someone already said, he is playing the crowd and now the crowd is on his back.

It's 14 but yeah, he has 14 career assists, that's including his loan deals and England appearances and he has 17 career goals for Manchester United since 2011.

That’s piss poor. I don’t know how anyone defends him. He’s an attacking player for feck sakes. All this bullshit about his personal life is secondary. He can do whatever the feck he wants he starts producing on the pitch. I’m not holding my breath though.

I agree he isn't good enough to be ManUtd player but these posts are just hilarious. Why since 2011 when he made his debut in 2014 and was injured all season, played his first proper season in 2015?

As I stated above its 14 assists and 41 goals in his career including loans.

Still poor.
