Jean Seri

Probably been asked before. Who's currently the better player granted i have never seen both play. Him or Keita?
Hard to properly compare they play in very different leagues. Keita is 4 years younger though.

Chelsea want Fred, Laporte and Seri? I dont see it, either Seri or Fred
I think City will sign Fred and if we are interested in Seri, we'll get him. Funnily enough, both players are targets for both clubs.

Would rather have Fred, more suited to us than Seri. Funny enough Seri would be better for City, but Fred will be a better direct Fernandinho replacement

Why don't you see it? Didn't they sign three full backs last summer? Danilo can't even buy a game at the minute. City is happy to stockpile players, especially if it means those players not going to United.

All the guff in the past two weeks is a smokescreen: they got rejected by Alexis and had to change the narrative. However, the bitters live to get one over on United. Its what they live for. Its what kept them going during the days of Dickov and Goater.

If we really want Sari they'll go in for him, and even if we don't want him they'll say we wanted him just so they can pretend a player chose blue over red.

We’re either really in for him or it’s City telling everyone we’re in so it looks like they beat us to him. Time will tell.

Doesn’t he also have a problem playing in cold weather?

Unless this is a squad replacement for Herrera I'm really not sure about this one. He's not stood out in the French league and he isn't known for anything in particular except being linked with transfers.

He looks like the kind of player we need.

I know very little about him personally but anyone I know who's watched him properly has raved over him.

I don't think we'll sign another player in January. City to sign one of Fred/Seri this summer and then we'll sign the one they don't in the summer I reckon.

Although, if I'm not mistaken, Seri can play in this years Champions League can't he?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that. Marlos is perhaps another Shakhtar player that could potentially be better for us than either of those two, but he's a fair bit older.

From what I heard about Him, feel like he'd fit us really well in that midfield 3 to give Pogba more freedom. Not too expensive either at 35m. Also city are only getting one of fred or Seri, they don't need both at all, and there are much bigger rumors with Fred so I'd say we shouldn't have a problem getting him.

How many damn players do City want to buy? It's absurd.

Probably a case of negotiating for more than one player simultaneously, to reduce the risk of missing out altogether. Seems to be our standard policy, too (Lindelof/Keane, Matic/Dier, Lukaku/Morata). I would guess that City are hoping to get either Fred or Seri, and either Laporte or Evans.

Carrick retiring with Fellaini potentially leaving on a free, it's certainly somewhere we need to strengthen. Not even sure about Herrera's situation.

Yes we need a #6 to back up/be a rotation option with Matic (perhaps a young(ish) player who's happy to spend some time on the bench). We also need a #8 to play alongside Pogba and the #6 in a 4-3-3. That is where the big money should be invested in my view - the best #8 we can possibly get our hands on.

As an aside, I wonder if United and City are going to sign a few players in this window with the rumours of UEFA bringing in rules to limit net spend for next season.

Mourinho mentioned that he needed 2 midfielders earlier, but will likely only get 1. I wonder if the money saved in getting Sanchez rather than either say Bale or Griezmann will mean that we have more funds available to buy 2 midfielders.

This feels a bit like the Malcom and Lucas Moura links, perhaps a player we have on the list while we see if we can get our main target.

Think Keita has a higher level personally, he'll fit very well into Liverpool's style of play.

Reeks of a city leak. So they can claim they beat Utd to someone and save face.

See Chelsea with Bakayoko after United stole Lukaku
I'd argue the opposite. McDonnell is one of the journos that gets briefed by United. Although he was the journo that wrote the what a waste of money-Martial article, he also wrote the Walker to cost £100m article.
I reckon City are getting Fred either way.

I want this lad because City want him. I've got the taste to see some more tears in the press.

I can see City being in for both Fred and Seri for two reasons, either they want to pursue both in case one of them doesn't come off, or they do actually intend to sign both with a view to moving on Yaya and Fernandinho. I think they'll likely get Fred and that'll be all, they are well stocked in central midfield as it is - Yaya, Fernandinho, Gundogan, and they use David Silva and De Bruyne as central midfielders too. Plus there's Delph, although he's mainly getting games at left back now. They have Foden coming through too.

I'm not saying that we'll get Seri if City don't, just more that I think City will only really go for Fred.

I don't think i've ever seen a Mirror rumour about us be correct.

Statistically he looks more of a City type signing, only Veratti makes more passes in Ligue 1.

It’s not about publications it’s always about individual journos. This one isn’t the worst, not to mention other people are going with it too. There’s been a brief or leak somewhere, whether that’s from us or City or Nice time will tell.

Does Mourinho not like players that can pass or have technical ability all of a sudden? Xabi Alonso, Modric, Deco, Cesc Fabregas, Sneijder, Ballack, Pogba etc. have all excelled under him.

Normally feels like when journalists start linking us with a particular player it doesn't really amount to anything. Most of our signings recently seem to just appear out of thin air.

Seri has been of colour this year, he was heartbroken of not getting his move to barcelona last year when PSG fecked barca over. Nice shifted goalposts on promise of PSG to pay more for seri, but the offer never arrived, barca got Paulinho and Poor seri was left at his present club.

This links to him are being put in by his agent for sure. He hasnt ahd a great success right now, while we may have some interest i doubt he will be our major midfield signing, considering we want to replace carrick . Seri has good passing, good flicks and creativity. On the ball he can be magic sometimes, has good setpeices and makes interceptions. He is not great defensively, i mean he is not at carrick level in that, but is a more adventurous passer and can play a good short pass game. I myself havent watched him too much, this info about him is from a twitter friend who lives in france and follows nice. Still he thinks, these links are manufactured by his agent to get hima new club as he doesnt want to stay in Nice any longer.

Utd won't brief on a serious target. They keep everything hush hush, unless you mean briefed so city pay more.

Never seen him play

Watched a 5 mins video, looks just the part, sign him up :)

Someone mentioned he plays like Djemba Djemba.

If he is half as good then we should sign him up.

Generally you're right, but it also depends on a few other factors. We don't know what stage the negotiations are at, at this stage. We briefed the Lukaku news very late on as we were confident he'd sign for us regardless. Certain journos were also briefed last summer that Matic is the main target and Fabinho is not interesting us, while the vast majority were reporting that United were close to signing Fabinho. Although, since Mourinho's come in, it feels like there's no really reliable journo getting our news consistently correct. Even Castles doesn't hear about half the stuff.

I’m quite confident that we do not engage in such behaviour and that this theory should probably die altogether.
