Manchester United one of the clubs keen on Javier Pastore | Give Me Football

Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on signing Javier Pastore this summer, according to Palermo's president Maurizio Zamparini.

The Argentine playmaker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer, with a host of sides across Europe keen to land the player.

Pastore won't come cheap though, with Zamparini saying the Serie 'A' side will not be willing to let the player leave for less that £45.1 million (€50m).

"The situation of (Javier) Pastore is in the hands of his agent. We must solve it within 15 days, before the end of the Copa America, otherwise Pastore stays with us. However, there's a 90 per cent chance that he'll go away, because it is the desire of the player. That is normal when you know that certain clubs want you," Zamparini told told Gr Parlamento.

"Pastore will go to England or Spain, but I'd exclude Barcelona, because they already have (Andres) Iniesta and Xavi in that position.

"The favourites are Real Madrid and Malaga. Manchester City are also interested in him, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea. I'm sorry to let him go, because he is the only world-beater that I have had (at the club) as president."

45,1 million pounds? Oh me oh my.

Yes plz, says me inner muppet. And if Fergie says it too then who am we to argue ^_^

£45 million for someone who cant get a start for Argentina? And I think theres a reason why one of the favourites to sign him are Malaga, and we're mentioned as also-rans. We were interested before and I'm sure we're still keeping an eye on him like with Sanchez but that doesnt mean we're willing to pay silly money for him.

With Madrid, Malaga, City and Roma bidding for him the price is sure to be well over the top

45 mil seems way too expensive.. Rightly said, silly money, absolutely. Perhaps we inquired about him, but that might be all..

I don't think there is anyway anybody in the world would pay that much for this lad! Palermo are trying to keep him there. If they are ready to sell him, then they are doing a pretty bad job marketing that. I'd rather spend £35m on Modric, which I am totally against by the way, than spend £45m on Pastore.

News: Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini says highly-rated playmaker Javier Pastore is unlikely to ply his trade in Serie A next season.

Maybe thats why Argentina are a shambles at the moment.

The money that Palermo would be asking is insane for a player who's not the finished product and may or may not adapt well to England. They constantly talk about £40m+ when he's really worth no more than £20-25 at the moment. It's ridiculous.

we're signing him.

Thats not how you do it. What you're supposed to say is...

Maybe he is going to Inter who are making plans for life without Sneijder. Maybe thats why there is a delay and Inter are reluctant to sell. Until they get Pastore.

See... That easy

Inter play in Serie A. Schoolboy error.

Ahh...I see. He's maybe off to Spurs then?

Does this mean we're back in for Modric?

Just to clarify....

Sneider to stay at Inter
Fabregas to stay at Barca
Modric to Chelsea
Pastore to Spurs
Sanchez to Barca
Nasri to City
Barton to us

God dammit, Dwayne!

I just composed a really long reply to Kinky Melinky in the Sneijder thread and when I hit 'post reply' it said thread closed.

It was the longest and most well thought out reply I'd ever typed. For feck's sake!

Zamparini says Pastore can go on co-ownership but only abroad... Don't know too many clubs outside of Italy using that system. He also says that Milan is probably the only team that can afford Pastore in Italy because the President promised a gift.

The reality is that in this inflated market Stewart Downing is apparently worth twenty million so comparing those two players I think upwards of 35 mil seems a price someone will pay.

Apparently Pastore is a few hours away from a new club, it's a toss up between CFC and PSG. Transfer's likely to be unveiled tomorrow.

SSN is claiming they have received two good bids from CFC and PSG that will be decided upon 'in the next few days' after Palermo's Europa League game versus Thun today.

Looks like Spurs might keep Modric after all.

Maybe not. Chelsea vowed to be signing at least 2 players in the next 10 days

Pastore looks like being 1 of those. Doesnt mean that Modric isnt another

The difference in the amount of money offered for both players is telling though

Very good player, but 45 million...feck me. That's a hell of a lot of pressure on a young man who didn't look all that comfortable at the copa America.
