City will get Pastore while we will get Charlie Adams or Henderson.

Rumour doing the rounds is, that the €50 mil offer came from city on the final days of the January window. As I said it's just a rumour from a few sports sites.
I imagine there'll be a bit of leeway until next season starts and we get a better idea of hwo it will be played out. So until then I imagine the likes of city and chelsea thought that this may be their last chance to spend uber big.I've seen you mention FFP rules a couple of times.
I get confused with the whole thing but I’m sure I remember reading somewhere that clubs are (as of Jan) now accountable for what they spend. i.e players signed in Jan need to be covered by the money made by the club; transfers completed prior to Jan don’t need to be considered?
I've read so much on the FFP rules that it’s hard to separate fahct from fiction.
…
I’d be fecking devastated if City got their oily claws into this guy.
Probably, although they sound to famous for us now. Chelsea have been confirmed as asking for Sanchez. Arsenal looks the likely destination for Eden Hazard. Gourcuffs inconsistency means he'll end up staying. Ganso will probably end up in Milan, ( although he wants to play in Spain and I don't imagine it being outside of the top 2 teams).
When have Chelsea been confirmed as the bidding team for Sanchez? It's not us, I know that but hopefully it's not them either as he would strengthen them immensely.
I think we won't sign any recognized attacking midfielder. Ferguson hasn't talked about value so much to go and spend £40m on Pastore, £30m on Sanchez or £25m on Hazard. Adam at £10m sounds like an option and if he was serious about being interested in one player in the Winter, I think it was Adam.
Their owner confirmed Chelseas interest, not confirmed wether they were the bidding team.

This is off Uefa's website:
UEFA is aware of the recent transfer activity across Europe. It must be noted, however, that the financial fair play rules do not prevent clubs from spending money on transfers themselves but rather require them to balance their books at the end of the season. It is therefore difficult to comment on any individual situation without knowing the long-term strategy of each club.
There is no doubt that transfers made now will impact on the break-even results of the financial years ending 2012 and 2013 – the first financial years to be assessed under the break-even rule. The clubs know the rules and also know that UEFA is fully committed to implementing them with rigour
So by this, any transfers made this summer will be considered. I know the full wrath of the rules won't be in place - but it still might act as a deterrent.
January just gone was seemingly the last opportunity for vulgar spending.
Which would suggest this summer our position in the transfer market strengthens considerably.
……….i could be reading too much into this.
Which may explain last minute silly uber bids.
in fact the only big english club that hasn't been confirmed for enquiries on any of these players (pastore, hamsik, hazard, sanchez, ganso) is us.
city will get pastore while we will get charlie adams or henderson.
Sad but true.
Sad but true.
I know. Maybe I'm a muppet but sometimes you wish you get the likes of Pastore and Sanchez and not end up with a Henderson
But the summer isn't even here and maybe we'll have another Ozil thread or two ....with a better end result
I've kinda enjoyed the last 2 seasons transfer windows. Linked with Kaka, Ozil and every other mover and shaker, created incredibly large threads for them and ended up with Owen and Bebe. They are a great ride.
The Ozil thread was the best thing since the crazy Berba thread
There was a mega one for Benzema as well before we suffered our annual muppet disappointment!
I predict disappointment in Hazard, Pastore, Sanchez and Henderson threads. The last one because we'll get him.
Ozil is the one we should have signed, but wasn't meant to be.
It's not as easy as just offering a certain amount of money and bringing the player in. The players has to want to come here. From what I remember reading, Ozil wanted to go to Madrid, and that was about it. Just because a player moves to a club for a smallish fee, doesn't mean we could have signed him for the same fee.Yeah and we could have bought for him for a very cheap price too since he was in his last year on contract.
What are you on? What in the world of holy crap are you talking about?
Ozil is the one we should have signed, but wasn't meant to be.
I doubt it was wages. His heart like Khedira's was set on Real from the moment all the German football legends including international team mates like Ballack said he should head there. I don't believe at Real he is earning Rooney type wages.Apparently his wages were the sticking point. He wanted something close to Rooney's wages which would have been impossible because of the friction it would have caused within the squad.
I would have loved to have him at OT, but as soon as Madrid brought out their monopoly set and started offering him silly wages the red door to OT was slammed shut.
It was reported that his annual salary is five million euros. It may not be the same as Rooney, but it would have placed him in the upper wage bracket at OT. Definitely something that would have been problematic.
Not for a player as talented as he tbf. He'd have come here and been an immdedaite star. So no one would have cared about his wages in all seriousness. It was reported that his annual salary is five million euros. It may not be the same as Rooney, but it would have placed him in the highest bracket at OT. Definitely something that would have been problematic.
So the rumour is, City bid £30mil but were turned down. There was no bid for 50 mil euros.
