I think we could do with two.
Did he really turn us down a few years ago?
If this is the case, then I would not dismiss these reports off the bat. We all know once Fergie sets his mind on a player he usually doesn't stop until he gets his man.
Have people put cocks away now then? Seems way out of our price range anyway.
He'll be linked with Inter next then... I can feel it.
Yes there is. Get him for £30 mil now sell him for £80 when he's won all there is.Not going to come to us:
No value
Wouldn't know.Too good on FM
Regardless of the fact that we're still arguablythe most famous club in the world and can compete with anyone when it comes to wages, have a good track record of winning big trophies and the fact we have been after this lad and shown constant interest from his huracan games and are able to offer him first team football and build a midfield around his talents, no reason whatsoever. Why would he come to us?
Barca don't need him, Madrid would have to make major changes to acomodate him.Barca, Real and Inter plus other higher-spending PL clubs linked
Got me there. Not obscure enough or homeless
We can afford him we've got squillions!Warchest key got lost in the laundry a couple of weeks ago...again
Muppet case 7254 closed
I forgot the main case for the prosecution - reports originate from tribal football
Will spazzers please shut up about 'our price range' ffs. We have £135m in the bank and will pay out big as long as we think we'll get a good return on the investment. We've a record of spending big money on players and people would be foolish to think that will stop.
Thats that then.
I'm gutted.
The big spending days are gone.
The big spending days are gone.
No they're on hiatus. Ferguson and Gill have constantly reiterated we have money to spend and they will spend it if they deem it nescessary, and yes I do believe them, and our accounts agree with everything they've said.

You don't have to spend big. Torres 50million. Hernandez peanuts in comparison. We just have to bring the right players in and promote from within. We need to reshape midfield and lets not forget the key in our 99 team and barcas is the introduction of kids who have the club running through their veins complimented with smart purchases.
The greatness of barcalona is a number of things but the difference is they can be in the final third and play about with you where as other teams strangle themselves.
It's only right we acknowledge Barcalona and change things. Javier Pastore is a possibility but I wouldn't think we'd get involved. What we cannot afford to do is keep fannying about. We can only beat Barca 9/10 playing counter attacking football because our midfield is not good enough and you can't fall into sentimentality because Barca and the like will keep moving forward..
Look at Barcas Midfield, we would be better off promoting a batch from within and be paitent with them because the potential is there and they are getting experience playing with each other all the time. All it needs is integration and paitence.

On one hand you're right, saying our and Barcas strenght are to some extent due to promoting within etc. so no need to spend big. But on the other hand, come on, do Barca not spend big these days? Was Villa cheap? Was Ibrahimovic cheap? They are in the running for Pastore as well. So don't hide behind all this crap of no value etc. Even if Barca's strenght is not mainly due to their spending, they have spent quite much as well. It's vital, there's always some need to tinker here and there. Especially when you're best freshly promoted players are of Gibsons ability (nowhere near the talent of Pedro for that matter).
Everyone seems to accept that the prices nowadays are much higher and Ł25million no longers buys you a Wayne Rooney - everyone but our club.
I agree. There is plenty of talent out there without the need to spend big.
Pastore would be spending big, I genuinely dont think he would represent good value because of the other clubs that are involved Madrid, Barca, City etc.
Id much rather we spent on Modric.

We're not on the same playing field. No team in history can buy ibrahimovic for as much as they did, give up on him, loan him out, be willing to lose out on 40+ million and then pay that money for villa..it's crazy...
Who hides behind crap of no value? We have to do what's right for us, which is different to what Barca feel they have to do...

Barca don't have the money to spend big every year - hence why they stopped chasing Fabregas.
The Ibrahimovic deal also wasnt as expensive as some might think - as I understood it the fee valued Eto'o at around £30 million which was mad given he had a year left on his contract. Ibrahimovic cost about £40 million and they'll sell him for at least half back to Milan. United have written off more on Veron umpteen years ago.
The lad is an international footballer for Argentina now and has proven his talent on many levels already, spending a wod of dough like say £30 - 35 as a long term investment as we have done with players like Rooney and Ferdinand, especially on a player who I expect will be a ballon d'or winner, even if we ended up selling him would be a sound investment and very much value for money.Would they spend that much on a pretty much unproven talent? Would go against everything Fergie says about value?
Ferguson does. Other teams spend big and improve. We on the other hand play mainly the same players we did play 2 years ago. We're still dependant on Giggs and Scholes - playing whom, given their age, should be no more than a nice bonus. Instead of splashing some cash on players when there is a tangible need of doing so in order to remain at the top, Ferguson will rave about how cheap Hernandez was. (Who, don't get me wrong, was in fact very cheap given todays standards and is a fantastic player, but can we afford to buy such player only every 2-3 years and ignore all the other top players, because "there's no value"?).
Ferguson in the past has spent themoney when needed. He will do again if he sees fit.
You realise he'd cost a lot more? Spurs wouldnt want to sell and "the other big clubs" would certainly be in as well.
Problem is, he saw fit more often in the past than he does now. Also, he spent fees around 25-30m pounds on players like Ferdinand and Rooney. Such fee doesn't buy you Andy Carroll these days but he refuses to accept it.
I do agree the fees players get bought for these days are crazy. But it's almost 7 years since we bought Rooney in 2004, you cannot expect the kind of money we paid for him buy you the same sort of player nowadays.
Yes but such fees will buy you a Pastore who is in that Rooney/Ferdinand league.
