A lot of these reports coming out now, apparently the Spanish press were all over it last night with them stating:

According to several radios Argentine striker Palermo, Javier Pastore, have reached an agreement with the Manchester team to play there the next season.

 Now I don't want to joing the MuppetWagon, but this would be one hell of a coup. We can all dream for now

Manchester is Red

feck it, great business for Palermo, we were close to getting him ourselves but he preferred the Italian league instead of the Portuguese League + Champions League.

Work permit + life style could be an issue. Not many Argentian youngsters prefer England anyhow...

Who was the last Argentian youngster who came to England and actually had a long and stable ( Good ) career ?

Naturally more South American players will end up in Spain and Italy becasue its less of a culture shock, but it all depends on the player. Tevez has been great and Mascherano was very good - but probably more to do with the type of player rather than nationality, and both seemed to have trouble adjusting to life in the UK.

All young players are a risk I suppose. Not seen a lot of this kid to be honest but people seem to be impressed and seems all of the big clubs have been sniffing around.

Interesting news if true.

Since when did Sky Sports get treated as credible? Especially when they are just rehashing a goal.com article?

Transfer forum...

News sites trading off the demand for a story like this in the wake of two big defeats, surely?

"Barcelona approached Palermo asking for a first option on Javier Pastore, allowing Barcelona to equal any bid by Madrid [sky italia via tmw] "

From twitter

haha

"can we go first? pleaseeeeeeee"

Not going to happen imo.

40 mil on a single player?

No way Fergie would do that on a non-established player.

Lots of money being talked about = we arent involved

If you think about it this way. It makes no sense for the Glazers not to invest. Can you really see Obertan and Bebe fronting ad campaigns for Audi etc etc

They HAVE to invest. Could be the summer. Not holding my breath just a thought.

He'll end up at Barcelona.

Will he though? Pep seems to prefer promoting from within and its not as if he desperately needs a player in that position. I would assume Barca's main target for the summer will be Fabregas, if they don't get him than maybe Pastore but I'm not sure where he would fit in.

He reckons he's turned down Real and Barca already because he wants to play regularly.

He's more likely to stay in Italy than go to Barca and sit on the bench.

The thing is we could use him on the left against most side, down the middle in our favoured 4-3-3 in tough games and against really weak teams we can surely place him alongside a Fletcher or Carrick. Or whoever we bring in to replace Hargreaves.

I think he'd be a fabulous signing for us if we ever got him.

I guess so, especially at Old Trafford in any case. He'd be an immense signing, he reminds me of a young Kaka, people forget this lad is only 21 also and that he's a long way off his peak.

Tevez wasn't young though, he came here at 23, was already well developed at top sides in the Argentinian and Brazilian league. Same goes for Masch...

I've seen Di Santo being a super flop, can't remember any youngster lets say 17-22 come to the PL and step up ( Argentina only )

He'll end up at Barcelona.

Everyone's ending up at Barcelona. There isn't a single decent player (young or old) in this forum that hasn't either declared his interest in Barcelona, or who others have conceeded will end up at Barcelona.

They're going to have a 164 man squad after the summer, full of £40m established world-class players who won't even make the bench. The younger ones (Pastore et al) will be clashing horns with the Alcantara brothers in the Barca youths, vying for reserve team football.

Madrid are also signing said players, which will prove even more problematic.
