This may be Chicharito's last season at United. Doesn't seem to be a David Moyes style player. Moyes never really used small number 9s at Everton and the way we're playing right now make me wonder how Hernandez fits into Moyes' plans? He certainly seems to big target men to the type of striker that likes a through ball. Had Fergie been around and we'd needed a goal or two at City I'm sure, with the options available, he'd have chucked Chico on but Moyes pushed Fellaini forward. Ominous.

Unfortunately agree. If things continue like this (and Moyes is still our manager after this season) I think that both Chicha and Shinji will leave at the end of the season (and rightly so). Fantastic players but very underused here.

No.

Jelavic is a donkey.

Hernandez is a goal poacher. They're not remotely similar in terms of playing style at all.

Jelavic is the definition of poacher. Between the end of his rangers days and the end of his first season at Everton he took 46 touches to score 44 goals. Now unless he is scoring one touch finishes from 30 yards, then he is a poacher. Jelavic is a good player, extremely low on confidence though.

No point in trying to debate with him on this issue.

I'm not pretending Jelavic is a world class build-up player, just that as player types they're completely different.

Jelavic's biggest assets are his fighting spirit and his quick finishing, Hernandez's biggest asset is his movement in and outside of the box and great pace - obviously coupled with being a great finisher as well.

You're missing that Jelavic is a big mobile unit who can header the ball back across goal or into a teammates path much better than Hernandez. He's not Hesky, he's a fantastic finisher on his day but his size and strength make him more of a Moyes player than Hernandez. Chicharito is a player in the mould of Michael Owen, quick, nippy, wonderful running onto a through ball but he's not the best back to goal player. He can't play the role Ruud played for us, for example. Chico plays off someone, he's not the player the ream play's off who brings other people into the action. That's something in his first season at Everton Jelavic did really well. Hernandez simply doesn't have the mass even if he does jump like an NBA player and is deceptively strong.

You might miss the season when Chica played upfront with Rooney behind, on a season we grabbed the league title and reached CL final.

I don't believe that stat for a second.

He's also nothing like Hernandez.

My bad it was actually 47. His end game is like Hernandez. It involves getting in and around the 6 yard box. The difference between the two comes outside the box. Jelavic can hold the ball up and play with his back to goal, Hernandez would make a run in behind. Also he is a much better finisher than Jelavic. It's a shame he isn't a starter elsewhere.

There is a completely different dynamic between small, quick finishers like Hernandez playing up top and someone like Drogba or even Van Persie. You cannot just launch the ball to Hernandez and expect him to bring it down and lay it off to runners. Hernandez works best when he's feeding off service from behind him. In the same way that Owen worked best with Heskey nodding the ball onto him or Defoe worked best with someone like Berba bringing it down for him and threading it through. As we saw at Wembley in 2011 Hernandez isn't the big man you launch it to and get him to hold up the ball. As that seems to be the football Moyes wants to play I worry for Chico. He's arguably the best finisher at the club and always gives 100 per cent but if we're not gonna play to his strengths and just launch balls vaguely toward the forward area I can see him getting sold. Sad, cos in the right system Chico could score 30 a season.

I expect Hernandez to start tonight. Really hope he grabs a goal and makes it hard for Moyes to drop him for the weekend. Needs a run of games/appearances to build his confidence.

I know there's a few questions for Moyes to answer but when did we start launching balls aimlessly towards the forward area? Even when we moved Fellaini forward on Sunday we didn't really use him properly.

Chicharito has featured in 120 games for us scoring 50 goals.

He should be competition to RvP for every game to keep both on their toes

In comparison, Welbeck has played in 106 games for us, scoring 21 goals

I bet a lot of those 120 games have been sub appearances for a few minutes at the end as well, whilst a lot of Welbeck's will have been on the wing. Not easy to compare because they're used so differently but I agree we should use Chicharito more, especially with Robin out. When Rooney was injured last season and Fergie gave him a run of games in front of RvP, he came up with the goods.

If he does not start playing more regularly this season, I really do think he should leave.

He is too good for being second fiddle really, As much as I love him as a player he deserves more. Could be a star for somebody like Atletico or even Dortmund.

Moyes tried to sign Michael Owen whilst at Everton.

Hernandez is no OGS. He won't put up with playing a bit part. Not when he's better than that. 10 goals in his last 14 starts, and can't get a league game. Criminally underused.

Absolutely agree Livvie, we'll lose him if he doesn't start getting more game time. No complaints if he starts looking elsewhere because he is far too good to play a minimal role.

Gets a goal every 120 minutes in the league which is an unreal record, and he keeps improving.

Anyone else think he looked seriously upset when coming off? I can easily see him moving on next summer.

I was disappointed when he was substituted. Played well, scored a very good goal and his link up play was tidy. Hopefully he starts at the weekend if RVP isn't fit.

Should be 3rd choice striker if Rooney and RVP are on form.

If he does decide to move on, I would completely understand it. He would start at any other team in the league bar City.

He looked upset/slightly pissed off.

Not surprised because he was excellent, no way deserved to be subbed off. Maybe Moyes is resting him for the weekend because Van Persie isn't a cert to be back in the team IIRC

He should definitely be ahead of Welbeck when it comes to the number 9 role if RvP isn't available.

Yeah looked a little annoyed, deserves to start next game, got the goal and did well on some of the counters.

Even the Chelsea fans around here like the look of him. Could you imagine they had Hernandez up front? With the creativity of Oscar etc. feeding him.

To me, Chicharito is the most dangerous penalty area player in the Premier League and his outside the box game is growing every time he plays. I dunno how long we can keep him without playing him regularly. As much as I admire Welbeck we need to make it clear to Hernandez that as Van Persie ages its Chicharito who'll be the man waiting in the wings for the number 9 role. If we lost a striker of Chico's quality it'd be insane.

Good to see him off the mark, reliable as ever.

If VP is out on Saturday, he definitely deserves another start.

brilliant striker. could be scoring 30+ goals a season quite easily for a team.

Why would I want to do that?

I thought we had to take him off a little earlier myself, we kept giving the ball away far too easily up top and we looked a lot better overall after he went off.

He looks so loveable, I just want to give him a hug.

He certainly should be getting far more game time. I'd start him this weekend against WBA for sure, even if RVP manages to get back to fitness.

I feel sorry for him being taken off, he must feel cursed to play for United. Even though he plays well he will end up being benched with Rooney and RvP ahead of him.

Definitely looked upset to be subbed. Hopefully it's because he'll be starting Saturday.

Don't agree with that at all, he was excellent I thought up against three centre backs.

Hernandez pissed off? I don't think the little lad has ever been pissed off.

I really hope that he gets the start at the weekend. It definitely must be tough for him knowing that Rooney and RVP will most certainly start over him no matter how well he performs.
