If Rooney and Persie were a bit faster, could be an option. To be honest, both of them out wide would be too much though, I think. One of them performing this role is enough.

They wouldn't be PLAYING that wide though, hardly hugging the touchline. My only concern would be defensive vulnerability , hence I would only be playing that system against weaker teams

Oh come on you muppets... what do you not understand in "we won't sell our good players" thing? Selling this guy would be suicide. Move on.

It's an odd situation for Hernandez. He basically has to decide between being second choice at a top club or first choice at tier 2 club, because as much as I like him and want him to succeed, he isn't goof enough to lead the line for one of the big clubs yet. Only issue is he isn't really getting the game time to get there either it seems.

He led the line for us in 2011 and was pretty good at it.

Good half from him. His link-up play is much better than I can ever remember it being.

Did ok generally speaking but he should've buried the chance early in the second half. I love the guy but if he's gonna complain about the chances he gets then when given an opportunity to prove himself he needs to take it.

He takes his chances on a much more regular basis than some other players in our team who get in based on other factors.

Yes but when that's pretty much all you contribute, you have to take your chances.

That said, the ball took a bobble, these things happen. No idea why he tried to absolutely leather it though!

He didn't. He side footed it, probably would have gone in had he put his foot through it.

Yeh he used his instep but he battered it. That power wasn't necessary. Anyway, like I said, these things happen.

Mentioned it in the match day thread he makes odd runs when on the counter and in front of the ball carrier from deep. Attempting to drag two central players out of position when it's really only the ball carrier and him up. Needs to peel wide, trust his ability on the ball and hold it up for more support. A couple of times Rooney had these crazy insane passes to try and execute to find him through 3 defenders. It was a bit weird.

Makes it look like it due to the ball bobbling up and the zip on the cross. For me he should have put his foot through it, got over the ball that way it would have stayed down but like you said things happen.

Unless he's going for a below United's level club, I don't see a striker of his age being the primary attacker in top tier teams in the world, maybe Juve (who still have Llorente, and Tevez) and I don't count Arsenal because I don't think he would do that. He's being valued, and he's incredibly young. He shouldn't be going anywhere, imo. It's not like he's being rotated with a subpar striker, he's battling maybe the best striker in the world today, and who is much older than him.

How many more years does RVP have left in him at this level? I see Hernandez as being our main striker after him (Rooney still first on team sheet, but Hernandez as the finisher and Rooney as a creator/striker).

Hopefully these years at the club are just showing Hernandez what he is learning, how the club is playing, and what we're expecting. He has the best attitude I have ever seen I think. Just hope we can persuade him to stay!

Barring any serious injuries, I'd say another 4-5 years.

Didn't feature in Mexico's win over new Zealand. Any reason for this or is his international place in jeopardy as a result of his lack of game time here?

Ah I see. I know New Zealand aren't up to much, but still, you'd imagine you'd make sure you had all your best players to ensure World Cup Qualification. Anyway, they're through so I suppose it was justified.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say he must have controlled the ball about twice in 45 minutes. Horrendous passing. Terrible attempt to control the ball in the lead up to the goal. Non-existent from the start yet again.

Honestly don't understand why he has the touch of a donkey. Thought he improved last year but now it seems to be back to his usual standard.
