He'll likely get another run out next week against Norwich. I wouldn't read too much into his face when he came off, he could be just frustrated at his lack of impact as opposed to being subbed. If he could get a goal it would boost his confidence and maybe get him going again, but even so I do wonder how long he'll want to be a back-up striker.

I am desperately hoping he accepts the Ole role. If he does, we are set for strikers for years. I would fully understand if we looks elsewhere for more playing time.

With Hernandez we have something the other strikers don't offer and yet he is limited and despite improving his all round game, he will never kick on without playing and so he is in a tricky situation. He will never be a regular at United.I'd love him to stay and play the Ole role but will he be content with that? He won't be starter for the majority of the other top clubs and so does stick with us or look to find a club with lower ambitions and player regularly. It's a travesty because he is a brilliant pro and such a nice guy and loved at united but maybe he has to consider his options.I'd hate to see him leave.

The poor bastard gets about 1 game a month, and you expect him to be on flying form

Watch him leave in the summer and go on to score 30 goals a season somewhere.

He wasnt shite on Wednesday at all, that is very harsh. I actually thought he showed some decent touches without much service. He won't accept the Ole role and rightly so, he's too good a player and could become a starter at many top clubs.

Agree with Adam that we'll regret it if he ends up leaving

he played last midweek, and will play next midweek. He'll start to get games now all the competitions are hotting up.

If we can win the Socieded game, then he'll have a couple of champions league games available too.

as much as I love the kid, and we all do, his limitations are obvious

his work rate, positioning, running, finishing and attacking awareness are awesome

the issue is he drifts out of games quickly, is limited in his passing/control/holding ball up abilities and he is more effective off the bench when we are chasing a game....

a great squad player and a perfect substitute he is our modern Solskjaer

the problem, and maybe this is exacerbated under Moyes, is that I don't think is as accepting to sit on the bench as Ole was.

Ideally we couple of goals up and we can give him some time today

He'll do that not because he's great, but because he'll have a team built around him.

I've said this before - but I think part of the problem is that we haven't used him frequently enough from the bench. We haven't actually given him the OGS role: Ole played frequently - he appeared from the bench regularly. I think Chicha could accept such a role - coming on, scoring goals, maturing as a player, developing different aspects of his game, etc - becoming a more rounded squad player, perhaps, in time, just like Ole did.

Given his qualities - and his limitations - he is at his deadliest against a tiring opponent. We should use him as a sub more often - whether we are actually chasing a goal or not.

fecking said it in the match thread. Bring him on.

GET IN

Super sub strikes again. No one wants to be that player but he's fantastic at being that player!

For the people that needed reminding why we cannot let the Mexican go, this has to be it.

Intelligent movement to lure his marker out of position. Subtle but oh so effective.

What was that challenge on Huth(?) like? Looked like a nothing challenge to me, but I was at the opposite said side of the ground... and just heard Hughes now saying he should have been off!?

Stoke put in some much worse challenges then that in my opinion...

This.

Not even Van Persie and Rooney can match Chico's off the ball movement. In fact, I don't think anyone in world football comes close to Chicharito for positioning in the final third.

A little dirty but nothing in it really.

The littlest guy on the pitch wins a header against the biggest set of monstrous lumps in football.

Gotta love Hernandez.

Not the first time he's scored against Stoke either. That's the thing with our Chico: You just know if we're chasing a goal all that's needed is to put it into an area he can attack it and sooner or later he will score.

He loves scoring against Stoke. That back-header a couple of years ago is still my favourite Hernandez goal.

Sod all that 'Air Jordan' merch. Air Hernandez.

arguably the best striker in Europe to come off the bench and nick a goal when you are chasing a game

It's rare to find players that come on and make an impact as often as he does. I don't know how many points he's earned for us this way. I'd like to see him start more games but he's strangely more effective this way.

His pace and attacking positioning against an already tired defence is almost cheating.

We need to do everything we can to keep him happy and staying for the long term at this club. He is a brilliant striker who has a goal in him every time he comes on the pitch.

I'd argue that's because when he starts its usually in a weakened team that sees Hernandez make a ton of great runs, and take up very good positions, only for the ball never to find him.

Look at the way Chico goes with the centre back today and then drifts off him slyly to meet Evra's cross in free space for the winner. That has nothing to do with tiredness, 1st minute or 91st minute Hernandez is always making those moves its just we're so often so poor in midfield that nobody picks him out.
