Who would you want in your team? Sturrridge or Welbeck. Welbeck for me as an attacking player offers no threat at all. He's not great creative wise and he gets nervous in front of goal. Atleast with Sturridge you are going to get a goal. He might be selfish, but all top goal scorers need to have a selfish streak. Welbeck doesn't.

His best performance came against Madrid, when he ran a lot and marked Alonso. That's a good example. He's an attacker last time, I checked. Are we desperate for another Park or something?

All he does is get in a good position and falls over.

Baffling that he is being picked ahead of Zaha and Hernandez. Zaha was brilliant during pre-season and deserves atleast one chance.

I'm tired of us picking players who run a lot and sacrifice our attacking threat. Valencia and Young are two, who do that and at the moment Welbeck is in that category too.

Congratulations on missing the point and comparing Welbeck to Park.

Him, Kagawa & Zaha must be fuming.

I am not turning on Moyes, and will give him a fair chance, but not give them barley a look in is worrying. One of Fergies best assets is taking risks, they dont always come off, but more times than not they worked.

However Moyes seems to have general idea of what his first XI is and he just sticking it, he not changing it up if things are not working. Not throwing Hernandez on when we were 4-0 against city is mind boggling. Fergie would have thrown on 3 attack mind players to get back in the game. Moyes just seemed content on not getting a bigger hammering

Kagawa, i can kind of see why he is limited, Rooney has been the main guy this season, and is in direct competition with him. I dont see him making it on the left wing here. Just don't think Moyes trust him playing there.

As for Zaha, its 8 games in and he is yet to play a minute. We have played 3 teams, with no disrespect to them, we would favor ourselves to beat with 10 men, at home, in West Brom, Palace and Southampton. Yet Zaha cant even get on the pitch. Strange.

I thought it was a no brainer to bring him on against Southampton. Given their style of play and how high a line they play with Hernandez was the ideal substitute.

Basically stick him on the shoulder of their defenders and give them something different to think about. Really hope he gets a proper chance in the side again soon....

We are in real danger of losing this lad in the summer, he will be that fed up he'll want to leave. I can't say I blame him at all.

He should be given more chances, and it's shameful that he isn't. If he's played regularly anywhere else he'd get 30 goals a season.

Moyes looks so overwhelmed with United, and feeling the pressure so much that he seems stiff. And the teams looks too. He wanted to get the result so much, that he played Smalling over Rooney, instead of Hernandez. Coward move, but you can understand why. But it blew up in his face. He can't afford continue to make mistakes like this. Caution is going nowhere for him. Time to use his best assets, time to try to understand why Hernandez and Kagawa are so rated, and why Young is so hated.

I missed the 2nd half but from what i saw in the 1st half, Hernandez wou'dve been perfect getting on to those lovely through balls Janujaz was playing. Oh Moyesy

It's a shame he can't get many minutes in a team struggling to score goals.

He always has that element of surprise where his quick movement gets him a goal. I don't think either van Persie or Rooney are playing particularly well despite scoring goals, difficult decisions for Moyes.

I don't really care about his hurt feelings. He's playing for Manchester United, and getting paid well to do so. What does bug me is that we're struggling for goals these days, and yet we don't play (either from the start or as an impact sub,) a guy who is all about the goals. We need to get this mofo involved asap.

I don't think it is that difficult for Moyes. Van Persie and Rooney are his main untouchables and will be start regardless of form. The fact they are both scoring just makes things easier for Moyes.

I don't think any manager would find it easy to keep Hernandez out. You pretty much have to here, but the way Sir Alex used to tickle his ego every week saying he'd love to use him more often, makes me think the decision must be hard at times.

I agree with those saying he should be playing more. We seem to lack pace up front these days which lets opposition defenders stand high up the pitch. Neither Rooney nor RVP is going to outrun many centre backs these days. Welbeck is fast enough, but seems to lack that edge. Hernandez is much more about that, and it's not just about speed either, it is also about his movements. I think playing him (and a faster centre back pairing) would allow our midfield much more room, and consequently they would be able to facilitate our attack better.

The lad will be gone next summer IMHO. His lack of action underlines the need for the manager to have done his homework prior to taking over. I don't think Moyes did so and thus looks short of ideas on team selection and squad management/rotation. It is bewildering that Moyes has only made one like for like substitution with his strikers to date, and that was to replace Chicha with RVP.

If I was Moyes, I'd ask myself one simple question. What would Sir Alex do? If you want goals you bring Hernandez on. If you need a goal, bring Hernandez on or play him. It's that simple. Moyes should be under no illusion. If you need a goal and you have a choice, you play Hernandez. Simple. Sir Alex would. It's not a difficult game. If Moyes does his homework, he shouldn't need to be told the obvious but Hernandez has been left on the bench time after time and Moyes should go back to basics because the striking situation is very simple. 3 are quality the other is still developing. Play Hernandez for the love of God Moyes...

We are struggling with possession, and creating any service for our strikers, starting Hernandez is the last thing we need, and I don't think it would help him a lot too, I don't see him scoring too much goals considering how little we are creating at the moment. He could be used more in dying minutes as a sub though.

I like the energy and closing down he brings. He creates quite alot from this and does a great job of holding the ball up and drawing a foul.

Very underrated player.

We dropped a bit deeper tbh and they took control for about 15-20 mins. He did well overall and Moyes made the right decision to sub him off as we needed someone who could move with the ball a bit better as our forwards got more and more isolated and it worked as we regained control and should have scored one or two more.

Did not look at all pleased when he was subbed off.

Just doesn't have the all-round game to tussle when we aren't controlling a match.

I honestly think you're saying that based upon previous years. He's become a much more all arounded player. His first touch his very good, his awareness is better, his passing is better. He just didn't see much of the ball.

Those are hard to analyze - could be because he was disappointed with himself, could be just because he wanted to play more or that he was simply pissed off for once again being substituted. Hard to tell. Did OK tonight I think. He certainly creates a lot of space for other players with his runs.

Got a fair crack at the whip. Didn't really take his chance. Should've scored when Shinji put that cross on a plate for him.

Some nice bits of play e.g. when he played Valencia in but overall not enough to suggest he should be starting.

True, but his balance is quite often a bit weak - he does lose the ball a few times when others would have retained it. He is now able to run with the ball at some pace though - that's an improvement.

Yeah, for sure - it's got nothing to do with the 60 minutes in that game where he was struggling to come deep and link up play with poor touches and making silly runs up the center channel through 4 or 5 players when nothing was on expecting to get the ball. He just can't hold the ball up and open up space his touch and dribbling is way to heavy.

If we aren't controlling the midfield and regaining the ball on the flanks then he's next to pointless. If we're constantly recycling wide and turning the ball over for him to get beyond the offside line then that's where he will start to flourish again. Face the facts that his technical ability has improved but not to the level where he can play as an all-round front man in the vein of RVP, Rooney and Welbeck.

He's a razor sharp poacher and unless he improves his touch and vision then that's all he'll really stay. Not saying I don't want him to do well mind.

I'd rather have Benteke than him or Welbeck as a backup striker, but I don't think he'd be the type of player who'd want to move and be a bench player.

Agree completely, that whole aspect of his game improved dramatically last season.

Was expecting a bit more from him in the second half, Sociedad were pretty high up the pitch and were allowing us to play on the counter-attack for basically the whole last half hour. Should have been the ideal situation for him.

Hardly surprising. He's not having a great time of it at the minute. He can have no complaints at coming off today though. I thought he had a decent game but with 10/15mins to go and only 1-0 up it made sense to bring him off.

Agreed. What's the point in making such a face? These are the games he has to score in. After an impressive first half, I was disappointed that he wasn't involved enough.

Good first half, but what happened to him in the second half?

Didnt stop working, just wouldnt break for him. Unlucky not to take a couple of long balls in his stride (which would've given him a chance). Went last night, and love watching him live. He terrorizes defenders. The number of sprints to rush keepers too is amazing. Very nearly caught him out a couple of times. Definitely earns his corn, wish he started more, but RVP & Rooney will always be picked before him

Genuinely don't understand how some people fail to see it as you see it in terms of Chico's movement and dynamism. I thought he had a solid game, not great, but by no means miserable. Held the ball up well a couple of times and squeezed it through to Valencia and others a decent number of times. Had he not been nudged in the back when that Kagawa cross came in he'd have bagged his customary goal. Such a great option to have.

Dont understand the negativity towards him last night.

Right he didnt score but his movement alone freed up so much space for Rooney and Kawaga. Mde us look a far bigger threat than in recent matches...

He did well last night. Think he should have also won us a penalty when that cross from Kagawa came in. The defender got none of the ball and impeded Hernandez in a goal scoring position. I think Hernandez did will to rush the defender which arguably forced the own goal. RvP, Rooney and Welbeck all like to drop off and get involved, where as Hernandez is the opposite, and that presence right on the shoulder does cause problems, even if he's not scoring goals.
