What does he have to do to get a full game?

Seriously, do we know why he didn't start today?
Maybe because we need to rotate and he started on Wednesday and will probably start against Wigan now, and Welbeck missed Newcastle, and Kagawa was back (could play on his best position) and Hernandez (+ van Persie) was on the bench.

He's country miles better than Welbeck will ever be, and a lot of posters rate him highly on here so that's saying something.

Hold your horses there. Chicha is my favorite player but this is nonsense. He is much better than Welbeck right now, but both of them will improve a lot and I thing that both of them will become much better than Chicha is at the moment.

Probably because Welbeck needs some games too, and Shinji has come back. Most likely he will start against Wigan in place of Welbeck, he also has a good record against them.

He really is Pippo Inzaghi reborn, can barely control the ball and is offside 90% of the time yet he somehow puts the ball in the net.

What you talking about mate? Don't let a few plays distort the potential the boy has. Great pass for the Van Persie goal. he didn't start the game well

He's such a lovable little guy aint he? The pure joy on his face everytime he scores is rather beautiful to see.

I can't believe how his build up play gets slated. Whenever he gets the ball he's always looking forward and plays in good balls. On top of that I'm not sure there's anyone in the world I'd want finishing the ball than him.

He's born offside though, but has been better this year in that regard except for today.

RVP, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck. Spoiled.

Predator.

Works hard every game, even when things aren't going for him he always puts the effort in and he usually pops up with a vital goal. Really happy he's bounced back this season after people criticised him last season.

Fantastic performance today, deserves to be starting.

He has averaged a goal or an assist every 59.6 minutes in the Premier League this season - 8 goals and 2 assists.

Some of his shots were a bit off today but I don't mind him having a pop from outside the box every now and then. He can certainly score from distance based off of the goals he's scored with Chivas. Decent performance from him. Hope he can build on it.

Right there with you kouroux.

I love the fact that Hernandez never gives up. Chico isn't like those forwards that miss one or two chances and then go missing, avoiding the danger areas so that they can't be shown up anymore (just look at Torres). He continues to hit the right areas, he continues to make the runs and whatever happens he continues to strike the ball with conviction.

As a midfielder it must be such a relief to know if you just put the ball in the right area he'll be there and he'll do his best to make something of it. When you need a goal he won't go hiding, he'd rather be on the end of your ball and miss than not be there at all. Knowing that as a midfielder must allow you to play with so much freedom when passing.

Does anyone know how many players have comparable stats? I've got no evidence to back this up but I'd hazard a guess that isn't not many.

This is only goal/minutes ratio, sorry:

If there are more 'championship' players like him, let's sign them all

I wondered who'd be the first to completely misrepresent my opinion.

His goal scoring continues to be immense, like I said, in that respect he's ahead of the often compared Solskjaer.

His linking up skills will never be at the level of RVP's, Rooney's, Kagawa's but they're still good for a striker of his kind. With all the goals he scores and general hardwork, we should be more forgiving when he misplaces a pass (who doesn't anyway ?)

Ironic how two of the top three are probably 3rd in the pecking order at their respective clubs, while the other one might be getting sold.

You're opinion was just wrong.

In all honesty I was taking the piss but it still doesn't make your statement any less idiotic. What kinda linking up skills you expect from a goal poacher ? Besides he's doing fine in that aspect of the game.

Here's goals+assist per game ratio (credit: orbinho from twitter):

Mins per goal involvement 2012-13 1. Walcott 62, 2. Hernandez 73, 3. Rooney 78, 4. van Persie 79, 5. Dzeko 79, 6. Mata 88, 7. Petric 94, 8. Ruiz 99'

Javier's in great company there, eh? Could you imagine if he was at Chelsea or something. They might be title contenders. We're lucky to have Hernandez that's for sure.

I think it's a fair statement, aye. He could improve a lot of teams as far as goals are concerned.

That's fine, disagree all you like, it's good for debate. Purposely misrepresenting somebody's opinion isn't though.

I think his all round play is inconsistent and can be quite frustrating at times but to say it's championship standard is bit of a stretch. Maybe it's the fact that his quality inside the box is so very good that the analysis of the other parts of his game can be a bit harsh.

Have to say Hernandez along with Rafael are two of my favourite United players.

Looks a lot sharper. Good to have his confidence back. The second goal was just quality finishing.

He's a world class poacher.

There aren't many players of his kind around right now. As others have said, we're very lucky to have him.

You are posting old data! He got two goals and an assist today, thus his ratio is improved significantly.

Using the table that you posted @ 514mins + 92mins for today /10 goals and assists = a goal or assist every 60.6 mins, takes him above Walcott.

He's razor-sharp at the moment, although I still think he'll start more games on the bench than not. That said, he'll play plenty, and will be a great asset for us to mix things up at the top end.

putting a good little tally together for the season.

Everyone thought he was brilliant at first, then it was a bit dry for bits of last season, and people started using words like "Limited" and talking about all round game, but now it's all coming back nicely to somewhere near the first thoughts we all had.

pleased.

When Rooney is having 1 of his binge periods i would much rather have a sharp Hernandez running his bollocks off. He might not quite have the same talent, but he sure is effective.

Him and RVP seem to have a great partnership going.

Good match from Chicharito today. As long as he's scoring you won't hear me complain about him, but as others have said despite a few good moments outside of the box he was still offside quite a few times and he had 2 or 3 shots that went terribly wrong. Still 2 goals and a win, well done Hernandez.

You talk about him being offside as though that's some poor part of his play? We want him playing the line and inevitably he will get caught on occasions. Totally bizarre criticism of a player like Hernandez.

Not just 2 goals and a win, 2 goals, 1 assist and a win. Excellent performance from him.
