He played a quite glorious cross field pass straight into Welbeck's stride on Saturday, which led to that left foot shot that was palmed over.

I was impressed with that, hadn't seen anything like that from him before.

Yeah, I can vaguely remember that, but from memory it was quite different wasn't it? More of a skilful through ball than a inch perfect long pass?

I know people won't have much to say about this but I thought Cheech had a pretty good game last night. He was more involved in the build-up play than he usually is and his movement was a delight to watch. At times, Galati couldn't handle him. Whenever he got the ball, he rarely lost and looked sharp throughout.

Once he gets some confidence taking players on, I think we'll have a very dangerous player on our hands. His liveliness is tormenting enough for defenders.

His range of passing and confidence in his ability to be involved in build up play is improving well.

That whole play was pretty fantastic. Welbeck's touch off his chest, second touch, and volley with his opposite foot from a pretty harsh angle.

Where are the goals going to come from?

His passing was actually very good last night. That pass to berbatov was just

This lads needs to have a strong midfield to supply him with through balls, he makes some glorious runs but because our midfield simply doesn't see them quick enough. His link up play is ok, but he's never going to be a Suarez or RVP type forward so to see the best outta him we need to invest in some players who can release him quickly and let him get in those one on one situations.

Our wingers and midfield yesterday barring Rooney were simply too slow and that pedestrian pace doesn't help a player like Hernandez.

I'm not sure he has too much to offer outside the box but then you could argue he doesn't need to be. The boy is a finisher - absolutely lethal when and where it matters. This sums things up for me: El Chicharito – Return of the Goal Poacher | The Triumvirate

I mean you have a point but I think with someone of his ability that he can develop into a player that adds to our build-up play and finishes like he does. I definitely dont think it's beyond. You could say in terms of his finishing, it's something we've needed for quite some time now.

I just think he can develop to be more than that. Not such a bad thing eh?

In fact, I'm not sure why you're saying that after last night. It wasn't like he added a glorious amount but I think there were signs of what he could do in time other than just finishing.

Of course he can improve and I don't mean to be critical of Hernandez in any way. He has been a tremendous signing and played a key part in us winning he title last season but you've got to factor in opposition the other night. I don't anticipate him developing into an all round player outside of the box but I don't necessarily think he needs to either.

It's fine. We have different expectations. Based on how I've seen him play with Mexico at times, I know he has more to offer. He might as well go ahead and improve. It's not going to hinder his game in any way. Does he need to? I would say so. He can get away with it now that he is young but although he'll never lose his goalscoring instincts, he'll lose that extra yard of pace. Nonetheless, he's going to be some player however he develops. I just think at this stage he'll develop into an all-around one or at least be more involved with our build-up play.

We shall see.

He will take the path of Andrew Cole. In a few years times he will be very good with his on the ball play.

My thinking exactly. It will take longer for the link up play to come, as that is the harder part to adapt to a new team. His off the ball running n the box is natural and not something he needs to think about, whereas getting involved deeper in the build up is where the teamwork comes in. His more natural game is to run in behing the opposition, but he is more than capable of linking things, just needs more games and probably more importantly a run of games in a settled side for things to come together more.

Anybody got a vid?

Apparently he got the slightest of touches on the opener as well, but looks like it's going down as a Salcido goal.

I watched it in super slow motion, the slow motion replay and my dvr going at 1/15th speed, and couldn't detect any change in direction or spin of the ball. If it made any contact with Chicharito, I think it just brushed his hair. No issue with Salcido getting credit for that.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has revealed he almost quit football before joining the Premier League club.

The Mexico international last month signed a new five-year contract at Old Trafford after making a huge impression in his first season at the club.

Hernandez scored 20 goals in all competitions last term after joining United from Chivas of Guadalajara in the summer of 2010.

Yet the 23-year-old has not always enjoyed his football and told Inside United: "It was about three years ago and I had a lot of questions about whether or not this was the path God wanted me to follow.

"I wasn't playing much football, I was being kept in the reserves. I was disappointed younger players were coming through and getting ahead of me, and it really got me down, even away from football.

"I talked a lot with my parents, my grandparents, my sister and my girlfriend about my situation, and they helped me realise that this is what I was meant to do.

"I know now that I'm a very lucky guy and I'm glad I made the decision to keep playing. That experience taught me a lot."

Hernandez missed the start of the current campaign after suffering a concussion during a pre-season training session in the United States.

The player spent time in hospital after the incident but was never concerned the condition was serious.

Hernandez said: "I just headed the ball on the wrong part of my head.

"It was a very strong cross, the ball moved in the air, and it hit me on the back of my head.

"I think all injuries - in football or in life - are scary and it's never nice to have bad headaches or be throwing up.

"But I knew I would be okay. This had happened twice before in Mexico, when I'd clashed heads with another player.

"So I knew what was happening to me, I knew the symptoms and knew I'd feel okay again."

Thank goodness that his concussion wasn't serious. I suffered one about two months ago and it's still affecting me now unfortunately. Mine was more than mild according to the doctors and I won't be at full health for the next 2 months or so. He's come back fit and doing the business for club and country. Viva Hernandez

"El Chicharito - My First Year" is on MUTV now. Another 30 minutes left. Well worth a watch.

Hopefully catch it on repeat.

Just brings back how mental his first season at the club was: the important goals, how well he settled, how the fans took to him and just how well he suits our club.

Top lad.

Latest quote from the little maestro -

Hernandez, though, says that he is still "getting used" to playing for United and enthused: "It's unbelievable [playing here].

"In some ways I'm still getting used to wearing this shirt and being around these incredible players, seeing my name on a Manchester United teamsheet... it's amazing.

"Some days I wake up and I just can't believe it. I'm living in this great country, playing for the best club in the world in the best league in the world. I'm so thankful for that."

4 goals in 13 appearances so far this season. It's been very stop-start for him so far this season with injuries and the form of Welbeck too. Let's hope he can get a run of games now and start banging the goals in again.

He just feels so elated and so excited to play for us. He talks almost every day about how happy he is playing here. Its nice to see that. At least he understands how lucky he is and continues to work hard at his game.

The service he's being getting this season hasn't been the best tbh. We need Nani and Young back on form on the wings, whipping in crosses for this lad. His off the ball movement can be undefendable at times.
