What a great person, as well as a great player. Fast becoming my favourite player in the team, hopefully he stays for many years.

I'm telling ya, he's a breath of fresh air. A rarity in the world of football. Hope we can keep him

exactly. he's smiling and laughing genuinely. to hear him talk about the time he heard about our offer is so amazing. He seems to really enjoy everything rather than it just being a job.

Well done for setting up Fletcher for the goal. I don't think Welbs played badly but we had zero cutting edge in the first half, when we actually had a chance of getting something against City, and I think Chico could've changed that. There was no one making runs around the box pulling the City defence around and that is a defence you need to move around cos its so disciplined. Plus we had a lot of chances to shoot in the first half and ended up doing nothing with it and Chico is many things but he sure ain't shy of shooting. Its all academic now but I think when we're on top of teams we need Hernandez up top because when you have that much of the ball you need to have that one player who can turn it into goals and Chico is that man.

Why didn't this little fella start today?

I really don't understand, he was our best striker last season. With his goal poaching ability and one against L'pool recently should he have been in the starting 11.

He hasn't added much to the build-up lately I don't think and it's a bit harder to stretch the field when they've got 3 in midfield with one sitting back. Welbeck is much more involved and gets on the ball, and that's what we need against teams as organized as City were going to be today.

We needed to keep the ball so Berbatov was brought on.

But did Berba keep the ball? Just before Chico got subbed he got down the byline and hit a great cross to Welbs. As soon as he went off we had no threat in behind Everton and they pushed up 10 yards knowing Berbs couldn't get away from them at the back. Even when he doesn't seem to be doing anything Hernandez stretches the play and if we spring the trap with a good ball to him he's generally good enough at crossing or shooting to give us chances to score.

Didn't play very well for the most part but he scored and he kept working hard, love this guy.

Not being sarcastic but did that help any? I am glad it not not injury related.

Berbatovs cameo today was laughable. I dont get the guy, he worked his arse off against Aldershot looked like he wanted back in the side and today he floated around in a sulk

Berba was brought on for his ability in the air when defending set pieces IMO.

Laughable? We couldn't string 3 passes together in the last half hour so it's hardly Berbatov's fault is it?

Totally agree, he's such an enigma.

If Hernandez has a midfield that was on his wave length and able to play balls through the middle when he made his runs he'd get a lot more goals. There are so many times he leaves his marker in the dust only for the ball to arrive 4 seconds later when he's offside.

I can only imagine how good Hernandez would be if we had a young Scholes type player in our midfield. Someone who had the vision and see the movement the same time our striker was about to make it..

couldnt agree more. he was stretching them all over the place. brilliant at making runs this guy. sadly, we dont really have a midfielder that threads the through ball with any consistency. he's a lot more potent if played through the center of the park than getting at the end of crosses. we could utilize him much better really.

Another winner in an important game. Simply amazing.

But I do hope he continues to work on his all round game. Sometimes hell play a really good pass and you'll wonder why it doesn't work out more often. If he can combine that with his goalscoring ability he will be unbelievable.

Didn't he play that beauty of a pass to set up Welbeck in the second half?

Thats the one I was referring to. But he also has the tendancy to mess up relatively simple passes that anyone else in our team would have made. If he can refine and fine tune this part of his game he'll go up another notch. He does tend to think too much about what he's doing when playing a pass. Needs to get a bit more instinctive at it.

I don't know about that, Rooney does that often enough too during his off patches, and Welbeck. Fletcher? Anderson?

Many are guilty of that, for some reason we seem to be harsher on Hernandez.

Hahahahaha, we are in general, a harsh bunch here anyway, we demand, and rightly so, high standards of players that pull on the famour red jersey. But we do forget sometimes that a lot of the players we are harsh about are still young. Chicha is one of the best out and out finishers in the game and has another 6 or 7 years to go till he peaks. It is scary to think just how good this guy could be by the time he hits 27 and has a better all round game.

Edit:- I have also seen a few comments about how he gets caught offside too much. In general, if the striker is caught offside making a run, the problem lies with the passer. If the pass is not spotted quick enough then he will be offside, moreso with the pace of the guy, which leaves the passer with even less time to spot the run and make the through ball.

Honestly, I don't think Hernandez should be dropping that deep to make those short passes because that's not one of his strengths. You can see even the one on one's he's not comfortable taking on defenders. He should be used as a poacher because that's where he excels and turning defenders and playing off their shoulder because his instincts as dead on when it comes to sniffing out goal scoring opportunities.

I'd love to see what he'd do if he had a midfield of the calibre of a Fabregas, David Silva or Xabi Alonso in the team. Someone who can spot the runs a striker will make and thread balls in behind the defence. All of Chicarito's pace and ability are wasted when the midfield simply isn't sharp enough to spot those chances or make those defence splitting passes.

Everyone does but he needs to work on it most. It's barely a criticism and not harsh at all. He's fast become one of my favorite players. But he does look very tense on the ball sometimes which is different from the others above. He looks almost a bit uncomfortable outside the box and im sure he knows he has to work on it as well because sometimes you plays a fantastic one and you wonder why he thinks it over so much the other times.

And it will come with time im sure. Not expecting him to become ronaldhinio on the ball but maybe try and reach the level ruud was at in this aspect. Also, it doesn't take away from the fact that he's already a fine striker and imo should be first choice at the club.

And id add that hernandez should set his sights higher than the likes of fletcher. Fletcher is a good player and all but hernandez has the raw talent to reach much greater heights. The natural gift of goakscoring that he has is priceless for a striker. Imagine how good he'd be if he refined his overall play as well.

Chicha: Every goal counts
Javier Hernandez isn't concerned about how he hits the net - as long as he keeps scoring for United.

The 'Little Pea' has yet to net from outside the box for the Reds, sparking comparisons with another of the club's great penalty-box predators, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutch hitman famously took 138 matches to score from outside the area - in a 3-1 victory at Charlton in 2005 - and none of Hernandez's 24 goals has been scored from long distance - even though he smashed some real belters during his time at Chivas.

After getting on the end of Patrice Evra's cross to notch the winner at Everton on Saturday, the 23-year-old has no reason to start looking to do something more spectacular and remains single-minded when it comes to firing the bullets for the champions.

Hernandez was asked whether he thinks he can bag a long-range goal this season during an exclusive interview with this month's Inside United.

"You never know!" he replied. "I think part of the reason I haven’t done that yet is because of the instructions I receive from Sir Alex.

"My job is play very high, right on the last man. To be honest, I don’t mind how I score goals – whether or not you score from one metre or from the halfway line, it counts the same. A goal is a goal."

I think Sir Alex is having him stay on the last man until he refines his skills better. When I read this, it seemed to imply it. I know some people will say that he doesn't have to follow instructions as we see some players play with more freedom. However, I think in his case, it's quite telling why he rarely drops back. He still has much to learn and I think in time we'll see him get more involved in play.

His touch and link-up play is better than when he first arrived. I know probably no one remembers it but he did setup Fletcher in the game against City. Albeit, it wasn't a glorious pass, it was a good one nonetheless and it led to a goal.

Someone pointed out earlier that he has the talent to improve and I think his work ethic and dedication will allow him to do that. I'm really excited to see him improve even further. For me, he's only just begun and I think he will develop into one of the most dangerous strikers around. Pretty bold of me but I think his willingness to learn and hard work will get him there. Fantastic player to have. Glad we spotted him.
