Very, very unlucky not to score tonight. His movement is what made us so lethal tonight, top assist aswell.

He's fecking marvellous, his movement in the first half was sensational and on another day he could have had a few goals by HT. His finishing was a tad below his usual standard, which coupled with Schmeichel Mk2 meant he didn't find the back of the net, but his all round play was brilliant and his touch to Rooney for the 2nd goal fantastic. Love him.

Finishing wasn't great today (human after all) but his movement again was brilliant. Nice pass for the third goal.

SAF: "Chicharito's offside goal was the watershed, it showed he (Neuer) was beatable.

It was his movement that got the better of Schalke's defense and split them open, first chance he probably thought he was offside and didnt' really hit it with enough power but I mean Neuer was VERY good and credit to him for making it hard for Chicha today...

Still, he did contribute with a sexy assist to Rooney and that acceleration and composure to pass the through ball to Rooney was great !

Rooney and Hernadez are forming a very, very, very good partnership. Hernadez' runs are just sublime which creates an acre of space for Rooney to operate in which allows him to play his natural game.

We're witnessing the start of something special with these 2 fellas.

Against a poorer keeper he'd have had 2 tonight but he came up against a guy who was basically Übermensch in the first half, but Hernandez head never drops, he never stops making smart runs and hunting the ball, his deft little pass into Rooney for our second was class.

RvN1776 Javier Hernandez (chicharito). Sharp. Quick. Team player. Scores goals. Like it.

Frankly I'm fronting the "get spoony on twitter campaign"

For someone who we make out as an amazing finisher, he was poor in that respect, keeper spreading his arms out or not. Once he's got a bit of work to do with a finish, it's not worked out.

Not impressed.

The very best strikers are perfect every game arn't they.

Aye. But his movement was the difference.

To be fair I think his chances was against a big keeper in top form from tight angles, The Giggs chances before his goal was the better and easier chances in my opinion.

His finishing is not as good as his movement, yet.

My man is sensational with the movement.

His decision making is slightly erratic though along with his finishing at times but he shall always get chances.

You should take a look at his goal-conversion percentages.

It's pointless even typing words about him anymore because it's all been said.

He HAS to play in the CL final, but can we play 2 upfront against a Barca/Real even when Rooney drops deep. No way would a Mourinho give Carrick that time on the ball

Should have scored tonight but I like a striker that creates so many chances through their movement, I'd rather get the chances and miss than create nothing.

What?

Is finishing is absolutely brilliant. Anyone can have a bad game and he did but only in one respect. He was ace in all other aspects.

His movement is unbelievable. I was so foolish in my earlier criticism of him. Technically, he is still not special, but I was missing the point of his inclusion in the team. He suits the team so well, and his instincts are phenomenal. This side with Hernandez and Rooney up front with Giggs and Carrick in midfield is so perfectly balanced. I am so optimistic about our chances in the Final if we continue with this selection.

just because he was denied by a top class goalkeeper twice and ahd two shots taht shaved the crossbar, we cant say that he is not a class finisher. Just look at teh offisde gaol as furtehr evidence at his shooting ability.

Even the best cant score in every game, what is important is that he still made a big contribution tonight.

The difference was clear after he came off. Stretched the defence, constantly making runs.

The amount of long balls played through to him from Rooney and the midfield that he was able to latch onto must have been in the double figures.

Considering his age and its his first season in England, fantastic player.

I think that's because his movement is so sensational so he's always on hand to score tap ins which I didn't really count when I said finishing.

I do believe he can improve slightly on his finishing.

Not knocking the lad, but he could have even more goals. He has it in him, if he just acts a bit calmer at times.

I thinking being bold and playing Hernadez could be the key to winning the Final (if we get there). Hernadez provides so much room for Rooney because he always occupies 2 defenders at one time. On another day Hernadez could have bagged a brace and he seems to be a player for the big occasions.

Besides Rooney plays deeper now and can easily fill into midfield to create a 4-5-1.

Im a believer that a team should always play to its strengths. Dropping Hernandez in the final would be a step backwards. THE Rooney Hernandez combo is or most lethal weapon and we must build our team around it

madrid tried playing to its strenghts (how it plays 99% of its matches) and got shat on by barca.

not a chance we'll play two up top against barca. madrid, yes but not barca.

We're a very different team to Madrid. We have a very solid, experienced defense and some excellent tactics in Europe. You can't use Madrids awful humbling as an excuse to drop Hernadez imo.

We can't be afraid to express ourselves against Barca. Besides I fancy the chances of meeting Madrid in the Final higher than Barca. It's destiny for us to meet Ronaldo in the Final imo.

I would want us to go out and have a go against Barca, rather than sit back. Our counterattacking is nowhere near as effective now as a few years ago, and just because its Barca doesnt make them unbeatable.

We should play a similar lineup to tonight and give them something to fear. With the likes of Alves bombing forward, Rooney and Hernandez would have a field day.

This actually worries me. Expect/hope that Ferguson will give him a month of in August.

i think we play the way we are at the minute against whoever we get in the final

you simply can't leave out hernandez or rooney - I think with Rooney playing slightly withdrawn he can come back into the xavi/busquets area of the pitch when we don't have possession

after guardiola's slight blow out i have a feeling for madrid in the semis anyway

I'm a little leery of jinxing a formation that the players are just beginning to grow into, but the bolded part would be exactly the argument for playing 'two up top', wouldn't it, as the backbone of Hernandez-Rooney-Carrick is starting to work nicely, with each drawing opposition attention and creating space for the other two to operate, much like what happened during Ronaldo's tenure.

Careful. Beat Barca (knock on wood) with a "4-5-1" and roughly half of sports journos of Europe will moan dismissively for at least two years at the regrettable sacrilege witnessed on the night that the savage tribes of the north spat on all that is beautiful and good about football in a one-off that they had no business winning.
