Bit of a random observation (although not as random as that photo) but I was watching highlights of the FA Cup game and the Rooney goal is a brilliant example of how much of a natural predator Hernandez is.

If you watch the replay closely, you can see both him and Djourou sliding in at the near post trying to get to Rafael's cross. The ball pops up and Rooney nods it back towards the far post. By the time the ball gets to the far side of the goal Hernanez is within kicking distance of it, waiting to pounce in case it comes back of the woodwork. His marker, Djourou, can be seen in the background still sitting on his arse at the near post, watching.

Yeah I noticed that too - not only was he back on his feet but had positioned himself not just to tap it in but anticipating it coming back off the post too. Gold dust.

Whilst he was excellent tonight, I do hope he works on his dribbling a tad.. he seems to exploit his pace mostly off the ball but on it I don't think he's utilising it as much as he could do. There are occasions when he is one v one on the counter alone and he seems reluctant to take the man on.

That minor gripe aside.. this lad *screams United all over. He just has it, exhilerating to watch.

To come into a new league and be as good as he has is incredible. 16 goals so far this season. How many did Torres get in his first season? What a bargain.

25+ i think

Just reminds me of David Villa

That's it for me, this guy has got to keep starting. What's he on now, 16 goals or something? What a bargain just like Ole was in his day. When you think Torres/Drogba came to England for £25m, Torres to Chelsea for £50m, Carroll and Suarez to Liverpool for over £50m, Gyan to Sunderland for £10m plus and he was only £7m.

Frustrating when you buy lots of young potentials and some don't come off but when they do like Ronaldo, Hernandez, Smalling so far, its pretty damn sweet isn't it!!! Surely has to have a shout for some kind of young player of the season award?

The lads a bit special. Such a danger to other teams and keeps the entire back 4 occupied with his runs. Killer instinct infront of goal too. A bit more practise holding the ball up and he's going to be some player. Heck, he already is.

33 (24 pl, 6 cl).

Amazing player for us. His runs are incredible and always looks like a threat, and considering our lack of threats I think its good we have an assassin.

My only small criticism of him though however is his play when he's got the ball and trying to pick out a pass. He seems to get pushed off easily or doesn't know what to do. There was a moment when he had it and Rooney was making a run on his left side and Giggs behind him but instead tried to pass it to Valencia who was marked and got intercepted I think. If he gets that sorted he'll be perfect.

He reminds me of Inzaghi.. only with pace, not to mention without any trace at all of any cuntishness.

So far, he reminds me a little bit of Gary Linekar (6 yard box awareness), 20LEGEND (super sub ability) and the original Ronaldo (pace when breaking from midfield) and Henry (his movement across the box)

He has so many strings to his bow, and these are just the ones we've seen this first season. Of course early days, and football has seen many of these young players do so well only never ever to be heard of again .... but £6m is worth is just for this season alone.

A young man with the world at his feet and potentially one of the greatest careers ever into the future.

Wooooooo Wooooo wooo :eek::lol:

Lets just call him the new Pele shall we.

I was in the Newbs when Hernandez was signed and, after speaking to people who knew how good he is (Chivas fans), I think I went for 20-25 goals for this season and posted as much in a thread in the newbs section...

...I might have underestimated him.

Loving this guy. I agree with the poster above in that he isn't too great ON the ball and if he can improve on that, we will have an absolute beast on our hands because OFF the ball, he is as good as it gets.

The speed at which he's managed to adapt from playing in the Mexican league to playing in the Premier League and Champions League is incredible. Great signing.

Lets just hope he doesn't suffer from the second season syndrome. But he's got natural instincts of a poacher so I don't think he will.

His movement off the ball is bloody fantastic, he's always moving and dragging defenders all over the place, creating space for himself and generally causing them all kinds of problems. He's so young as well, I love him, he's amazing.
