I'm a huge fan of this lad now :D

He remembered! What a swell guy

Great movement, but he lacked the cutting edge up top tonight. That being said, the runs he makes almost makes him undroppable now.

Good hold-up play, showed he can play in the 4-5-1 and he linked up very well with Rooney. Will be disappointed not to have scored at the end, but an excellent performance.

Unlucky in front of goal, but ran his socks off as always. His movement and runs are absolutely brilliant, he pulls defenders all over the shop.

Such a vital player for us already in his short time here. Have I said before I love him?

Said it in the match thread - he just always looks dangerous, no matter what.

Deserved A goal, and no Dwayne, I saw him first!

Fantastic signing, could turn out to be the difference with last season when we relied mainly on one striker to deliver the goods.

Excellent again today, his movement gives defenders a headache all match long and his hold up play is getting better, unlucky not to get on the score sheet, the power he generated on his header that brought about Fabio's goal was tremendous. It's hard to imagine him being left out for the next two games.

Don't think he was superb. He needs to hold the ball up better. Unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. But he's getting there!

Just had a conversation with a Gooner mate who came up today, said he was shocked just how good Hernandez is off the ball with his constant sprints away from his man tugging the marker away from play and creating space for others.

An absolute gem this lad, obvious improvements to be made but with his attitude and ability he really can be as good as he wants.

This guy is a constant threat. He does not give you that look of hopelessness that I see in some players I shall not name here. He will fight and fight when things are not really going well

And he's the most loveable of characters since Ole, and seems to love the club judging by his reactions to goals, even when on the bench... he lights up like nobody else... maybe it's just his childlike face :)

Years and years of great service to be had from this lad, I hope <3

He actually held the ball up really well until the latter stages of the game.

I thought he did a bad job of holding the ball up. Needs to improve his strength and learn to put himself about more. he just seems to focus on leaning into the defender and ends up falling to the side while the defender slips in the other side nicking the ball

He did an excellent job holding the ball up, until the later stages of the game when he seemed to tire and the ball was coming back a bit too often

Bit of a random observation (although not as random as that photo) but I was watching highlights of the FA Cup game and the Rooney goal is a brilliant example of how much of a natural predator Hernandez is.

If you watch the replay closely, you can see both him and Djourou sliding in at the near post trying to get to Rafael's cross. The ball pops up and Rooney nods it back towards the far post. By the time the ball gets to the far side of the goal Hernanez is within kicking distance of it, waiting to pounce in case it comes back of the woodwork. His marker, Djourou, can be seen in the background still sitting on his arse at the near post, watching.

The one thing about Chicha I notice is that compared to Rooney and Berbatov this season, he consistently makes runs to the near post. So many of our balls from the wings end up at the near post and either get collected by the keeper or hoofed clear by a defender because the forwards don't make that run. Rooney seemed to do it a fair amount last season, not sure why him and Berba don't do it some more.
