Who else had a feeling that he'd be a brilliant impact player before we signed him?????

Ekeke, Jase, Mockney and I have the gift of foresight. But we're Jedis...and can predict the outcome of games... like knowing we'd score three goals after going 2-0 down to Blackpool yesterday.

Billabong or something as Mockers'd say.

Knew he'd be great after goals vs Holland, Italy, France and Argentina all before the season started.

Before we signed him?

I doubt anyone interested in United had even heard of him (unless they were Mexican) before we signed him completely out of the blue.

That said I was waiting for a Mexican player to be signed since the Glazers took over. Glad he was the one.

Apologies if this has been pointed out before, but Solskjaer, fairly regarded as the greatest sub in premier league history, scored 17 off the bench over 11 years. Very impressive record, and predictably the best in the league.

Hernandez already has 3 in six months. Now I doubt he fancies racking up enough time on the bench to break the record, but if you gave him as many games as Ole he's do it easily. He's got another 3 in other competitions, of course, but I'm struggling to find Ole's overall record.

Last night was the perfect game for him to come into. Tired defenders who aren't the quickest when they're fresh.

Must be giving Fergie a headache to start ahead of Rooney on form at this stage.

Doc, what's wrong with you? Ekeke knew he'd be a success despite not knowing who he was.

I didn't think he'd be an brilliant impact player before we signed him as i'd never heard of him until the day he actually signed.

But watching the world cup and some good ol' youtube clips, i then came to the conclusion that he would be a brilliant impact player.

He is brilliant off the bench but I can't see a reason why he can't be a starter in a few years. He really has a lot more to his game then is visibly obvious, he makes fantastic runs from off the shoulder, but he's also very good at linking up the play when the ball is played to his feet, he has a deft touch and of course the most important ability for any player of his ilk, he has the goal-scoring aura around him.

Hernandez is great, he should be getting more game time. He will score a serious amount of goals if played consistently.

Bong Bbng billa...

I knew he'd be great before he was born to be fair.

Main 4 strikers next season - Berbatov, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck. Very exciting indeed.

No need to sign a striker in the Summer which should mean more money available for our inevitable midfield Summer signing - so in a way Hernandez will have sorted out our striking options and contributed to our midfield being bolstered with (what I imagine will be) a top signing...in a way.

Jesus is back, and he's Mexican.

He is not a Ronaldo or Rooney. He is sort of like our version of Darren Bent. He will score goals, but he is not a great player. I do love Chicharito but I don't see him as a starter right now or in the future.

:lol::lol:

The lad has done absolutely everything right so far. This is just his first season in the premier league and he came from a much inferior league and is only 22.

Anyone saying they don't see this kid as a starter in the future is mental! He's one of the most exciting young strikers in World football!

With what he showed at the World Cup and what he's shown in is debut PL season it's pretty fecking obvious that this boy is made for the biggest of stages.

I had the same feeling Ekeke... I knew he'd be a great impact player despite never seeing him play.

I went with the timing. We sign a striker the week after we're knocked out of the champions league in a match where our star striker came off injured and a winger spent 20 minutes up front on his own because the manager chose not to bring on our other striker.

It doesnt take a genius like yourself to work out that the striker we were signing was going to be the kind that the manager would have liked to use in the match. Although I do wonder if you watched the match at all

He's fecking brilliant this season.
Hope he doesn't have that dreaded second season syndrome.
The kid will get crucified on here, you know the cafe is famous for short term memories.

Hernandez has gotten so many Latinos excited over here. I was hoping he'd be as good as they say, but the boy is far beyond anything I expected. Love watching him

By the way, starting a game and making an impact sub are 2 different things. So far, he's much like Macheda in that regard, although much much better than the italian.

Obviously.

Like when we signed Liam Miller on a pre-contract in January of 2004.

We'd just beaten Bolton 2-1 at the Reebok in the same week that Roy Keane had scored in the FA Cup at Villa Park, and it was clear to everyone that what was truly missing from the performances was an invisible Irishman.

Except he actually scored 28 goals as a substitute....

Yes the Bolton match was just as important as losing in the semi finals of the champions league you're quite right. And I can see why you brought up this point as winning a match and losing a match are very alike and both show you exactly whats missing and who the manager has faith in.

I love Chico so much I wish he would read this I LOVE YOU CHICHARITO!! I feckING LOVE YOU

It's nice to see you and Jason agreeing.

Scholesy's underwhelmed? Tbh that has me more excited than what we've seen Chicharito do thus far!

At some point you have to bow to the wisdom of your obvious superiors, and I happily admit that Ekeke's superiority knows no bounds.

If we can't get Jamie Redknapp in when Fergie leaves, we'd be making a horrible mistake in overlooking Ekeke From The Internet.

After wanting to give you the benefit of the doubt for a long time, I'm now convinced you just say these things to wind people up.

Don't think the Bayern Match played any factor in Hernandez's signing, we've been scouting him extensively for three weeks before signing him.

I think the issue of having a winger up front for 20 minutes or however long and not bringing on Berbatov to do the job, was an example that showed us that Sir Alex wanted to add something up front to our squad. And thats where Hernandez's signing comes in.

We may already have been looking at him, he may have been watching the match from the stands, I dont think it was something that Sir Alex Ferguson noted during the game but instead I think he would have been aware of it for some time that he wouldnt want to use Berbatov as a lone player up front when we were down to 10 men. It may have been new information to us, but not to him

Aye, I'm sure he often signs players specifically for those all-too frequent scenarios when we're down to 10 men and our best lone striker is injured.

Or not.

Who said he did?

My point was that I felt at the time of Hernandez's signing that he was going to be a striker that Sir Alex would have liked to have had at his disposal during the Bayern match when we were in trouble. Not that he will have signed him specifically for that situation or match.
