Just love this guy...but please Chicharito no more kissing the badge ;)

I thought the same thing when he did it vs Stoke, but i think hes just trying to show the fans how much it means to him to be here - so long may it continue!

Rooney was very good with RvN at times, just like he was good with Tevez at times. He didn't strike up a genuine strike partnership with either IMO.

We haven't had one of them at the club since Yorke and Cole.

The thing is it's natural for us to think the best strike forces are the ones where the players individual skills are complimentary. Where they operate in different areas of the pitch so as to ask as many questions of the opposition.

Now in the modern game does this still hold with the prevalence of a lone attacker or a three man front line where all players can move across the pitch and can attack from any angle?

I would agree Berba and Hernandez looks to be a nice complimentary partnership if we play 2 up front but if we tend to go with a three man front line then it seem the common concensus is to haver 3 players very similar in skill who can thenn swap around so its less complimetary and more being able to be homogenous.

Berba and Hernandez partnership has been awesome. We have not seen Rooney and Hernandez bt at moment i dont want to break this partnership up.

So, does anyone know how the lad is doing compared to muppet favourites like Villa, Ibrahimovic and Dzeko?

Obviously I do in fact know he's scored as many as each of them, I'm just being all rhetorically twattish for a laugh.

For the record, Dzeko's scored 1 in every 180 mins, Ibrahimovic 1 in 162 and Villa 1 in 207.

Chicharito has 1 in every 102 mins. Not including the CC goal. He's also scored as many goals as Villa, and just one less than both Ibrahimovic and Dzeko.

:D

Ruud and Ole were brilliant together IIRC.

Is that United only? For the national team, starting with the WC, he has 1 in 70. (South Africa, France, Uruguay, Argentina and Spain.) He has 1 goal in 83 for club and country, starting from the WC and randomly counting Charity Shield and the friendly vs Spain.

I thought Rooney and Saha was brilliant. While it lasted.

He certainly looked the part yesterday - lovely movement, great work-rate, intelligent player. Certainly great potential there.

109 mins for Berbatov. So if we go by the numbers, Hernandez is our biggest goalthreat

I hope the lad doesn't fall to fame... Just wish he'll keep enjoying his football, have fun, celebrate like he does ( Like he just scored his first goal for us ) and I hope he keeps banging em' in with what ever he has got, back header, ankle... Anything for the sake of scoring a goal for us !!!

Come on Chicha !! I've already got a Chicha scarf !

What the fecks Jamie Redknapp on about in his column in the Mail today when talking about Hernandez?

"He reminds me of a young Michael Owen without that blistering burst of pace and acceleration"

Erm what the feck are you on about you tit? Hernandez is one of the quickest strikers around right now, he was clocked as the fastest player at the world cup, any idiot with a working pair can see hes lightning fast.

Why is it so difficult for these people to do a little bit of research and get these very basic things right?

I thought Rooney and Saha was brilliant. While it lasted.

Ruud/Saha was mesmerizing when they first linked up following Saha's arrival to United in 2004. Outside Cole/Yorke, I felt that strike partnership was the best I'd seen in my few years of regularly watching United play (Ole/Ruud was good too). Shame the rest of the squad was deteriorating and/or being groomed while Ruud and Saha were at/near their prime.

Ronaldhino/Ruud would have been frightening.

He seems to have that Ruud ability to be in the right place at the right time or at least position himself around the goal to gobble up ricochets, crosses, deflections, etc. Long may it continue. This side has lacked a fox-in-the-box type player to convert many of those chances that guys like Ole and Ruud often converted.

Rooneys never really built a great stikre partnership with anyone in his career to date in all truth some flashes with certain players but nothing you can say has consistently done the business, be it for United/Everton or England, im not sure hes the partner type, and i dont think its at all coincidental his best ever season by far came when playing up front on his own for the majority.

Maybe hes like Torres in that respect, Torres always looks a lesser player when paired with Villa for spain than he does when played up top alone for Liverpool.

Yeah, agree with all of that and good analogy about Torres.

I guess some strikers just never quite work out how to play their best football as part of a pair. Not that it matters, so long as they can lead the line as well as Torres, or play as many different attacking roles as Rooney.

Good point that. Although if he can somehow bring back that raw ability to explode and frighten defenders, I'd that striker over the 'tap-in' one he was last season.

Stating the obvious but if we can have a combination of both it would be ideal.

Weird how Berbatov didn't fit into our system (in the eyes of many - including me) last year, whereas Rooney excelled. Now Chicarito is here, it's almost been the opposite
