He reminds me of Law. His sudden acceleration, opportunism to take chances.

Any of the older reds agree?
:) post 1242

"He looks more like Denis Law every time I see him. Has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and being able to execute clinically. Moves like Law too. "

I've not been his biggest fan in his time here. His touch has often looked heavy and he's looked really lightweight. However, he certainly proved me wrong today and got up straight away after every challenge, worked his arse off, found space, scored 2 goals and really looked the part. Cracking header too. Long may it continue.

He's decent and adjusted far quicker to the league than I'd have thought, but I think there's yet more to see from him. He looked a bit stressed today when he got the ball but confidence will come with time, especially as he seems to get into scoring positions with ease so he's bound to score some more. I'd say he'll get 15 in all competitions by the end of season.

Anyone else catch what Gary Nev had to say about him on MOTD2?

Nothing but high, high praise.

Said about how he's a great player, excellent finisher and how he works so hard in training and in matches for the team in games. Really top lad as well apparently.

Having the confidence of SAF and his team mates is probably the most important thing for him right now. If they believe in his ability, he will believe in it more and play with more confidence.

Anytime the ball goes towards goal, he's running at the goal in case there's a mistake or deflection. I think he'll score quite a few goals just because he happens to end up in the right place at the right time.

He's scored with his face, back of his head, left foot(twice), and right foot.

watch Real sniffing around next season. Gill better get his finger out and tie him to an improved contract in the summer for 5 years or summat.

Now now I think you are taking it too far. I agree he is going to be brilliant for us in the coming years but I doubt Real is going to want him. They have pretty young strikers anyways - Higuain, Ronaldo and Benzema.

same here

I don't quite see the comparison with Solskjaer if I am honest - Solskjaer wasn't quick, not exceptionally good with the ball - his biggest strength was that he always hit the target with his shots. And naturally if you do - you will score a lot of goals.

He is a natural goalscorer. In any team he will be valuable. It will be hard to have him on the bench when he is playing like this.

Second goal reminded me of Ole he also as a bit of Michael Owen about him.

Definitely looks like a young Owen to me. He also seems to have bulked up since the World Cup.

Odds on him finishing top scorer at the club come May? worth a punt i reckon.

I got 8-1 before the weekend, think it's down to 6ish now.

Also threw a couple quid on him being top PL scorer at 55-1

Really like him. So much so that I've scrapped my current manager mode in Fifa where I was almost done with the second season just so I can bump his stats up to what I feel is accurate and start again!

Still not sure what to do with Rooney :(

"One of the best young prospects I've seen at this club in a long long time"

Absolutely made up for the lad. To me one of his greatest qualities is his modesty and his temperament. Signs for United and suddenly has the worlds attention. Goes to the World Cup and has a fantastic tournament. Joins United and has a great pre-season and then has to serve his time as a sub. Almost every time he's been given a chance he has grabbed it with both hands. To move half way around the world to one of the worlds biggest clubs, different culture and team-mates and still hit the ground running is amazing. Was a little worried this week when it really looked like Berba and him would be the front two for the remainder of the season how he would react when Rooney eventually re-signed. Plenty of players would have let their heads drop and worry about when their chances would come again. Kid just gets on with it.

Just love this guy...but please Chicharito no more kissing the badge ;)

Me likes :)

He just has that intangible 'something' about him. Very decisive in everything he does, always looking to make something happen and a lot of positive energy.

Overall record for United in all games.

5 starts
5 subs
5 goals
0 assists

Winning goals twice.

Berbarito is the most prolific strike partnership, bar none. Which is amazing when you think how last season's narrative was that we couldn't score for shit without Rooney.

Scoring goals is not a problem this season, keeping them out is.

He's already helped us to two of our most crucial wins till now.

He knows how to score. And I love the way he chases everything. He closes down the defenders and keeper. I'd be surprised if he scored less than 15 goals this year.

Infact what odds on him being our top scorer this year?

Chelsea don't rest their players or rotate much do they? Malouda already played over 1000 mins

Struck gold with him. Looked a threat throughout the game and made some very clever runs. Natural finisher... can't really see a fault in his game frankly... would be a travesty if he gets benched.

Hernandez movement is clever he pulls away at times then comes down the middle. He doesn't rest. Berba has dropped deeper when he plays with Hernandez which is the right thing to do. I think Berba and Hernandez have shown more intelligent movement together than Rooney and Berba in the sense Berba and Hernandez compliment each other better.

Berba put in a good shift for the defence and Hernandez on the break did stretch Stoke. Overall Nani /Hernandez / Berba have scored 12 of our 20 goals in the EPL.

Kalou / Malouda / Drogba have scored 18 of their 25 league goals this season.

For all his talents, Rooney seems to struggle to form a decent strike partnership.

Berbatov linked up brilliantly with Keane throughout his time at Spurs and has looked much more likely to repeat this feat with Hernandez (or even Owen) than he has with Rooney.

Interesting. How was Rooneyw with Nistelrooy. He was good with tevez and then played secod fiddle to Ronaldo.

Rooney greatest strength is also his weakness as he is versatile he at times tries to do too much. Rooney is a bit crazy on the pitch at times because his runs and movement doesn't make sense its all blood and thunder.

I feel berba and Hernandez work better because Hernandez knows his role - he isn;t here to create so he will not waste as much time deep. This compliment Berba who himself says he would much rather create than score.
