I love this this kid already, you can keep your Villa's, your Torres's etc, wouldn't swap this one for anyone.

Kudos to our scouting network, I think we've got ourselves a little diamond here.

£6 million, fecking brilliant!

He's just brilliant, the Little Pea. He took his goal fantastic, just killed the ball dead then rifled it into the corner of the net.

Have big hopes for the lad.

Need to give him more time as a striker instead of wasting him out wide where he's quite ineffective.

I reckon we will see the best of Hernandez in the new year once he has had a few more games under his belt adapting to the pace of the Premier League. So far he has settled quite well & does not look out of place in a United shirt but just needs more games.

If anyone wants to continue arguing about players in the wrong thread I'll be happy to hand out some infraction points.

And now for a completely random story from the Mirror:

Manchester United goal hero Javier Hernandez was involved in a stand-off with an angry farmer in a tractor at the club’s training ground which nearly left him in a ditch.

Hernandez, known as Chicharito meaning Little Pea, was taking a short-cut to the Carrington complex near Manchester in his 4x4 when he met the tractor.

The 22-year-old Mexican, who scored the only goal in United’s Champions League win over Valencia on Wednesday, was forced to give way eventually.

United’s youth team director Brian McClair told the club magazine: “It’s a single track road with ditches on either side.

“The farmer had right of way but Chicharito was not for reversing, until the tractor was about to drive over his car.

“He finally decided to retreat, nearly ending up in the ditch and then up a telegraph pole. The farmer was not amused.”

But the Mirror seems to have got it from the club magazine. One for the Hernandez fan-boys i guess.

From Giggs:

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has placed summer signing Javier Hernandez in the same mould as former strike star Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

"It's hard not to get too excited by a player like Javier," said Giggs. "We've seen it over the years. You can get excited by players and build them up. But I was genuinely excited in pre-season, seeing what he could do.

"Javier's just a natural finisher and they don't come along that often. You saw that when he scored against Valencia, it was just a great goal. His first touch was great as was his finish. It was just instinctive and when you've got that, you'll score an awful lot of goals.

"He was only on for about 15 minutes but in that time he hit the post, ran through onto a cross when their keeper saved it, and he's just a dangerous player.

"Ole had every finish - left foot, right foot, headers, the lot. And Javier's goal reminded me a little bit of Ole, just because he always used to hit the side netting low and hard, whether it was with his right foot or left foot, and so it was similar in that respect."

The most likely explanation is that they botched "Baby Faced Assassin," but that still doesn't make sense since I think Marco Antonio Barrera had the same nickname.

I don't think people from Record even know who the Baby Faced Assassin is.

Not yet.

Getting a bit ahead of yourself mate...

Not really, no.

I wouldn't swap him for anyone right now, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing an up and coming young player come good and make the grade at our club, it's been the lifeblood of our success over the years, I much prefer that route to success than spunking £40 million plus on the finished article, always have.

I haven't seen anything from this kid to suggest he hasn't got what it takes yet, he seems to tick pretty much all of the boxes needed imo.

Time tell if I'm right or not, but I'm not gonna shy away from telling it like I see it, just as our scouts have obviously done and SAF too to have bought him in the first place.

Im a fan of this to. I always say look to youth first rather than buying any player.

But hernandez isnt from our youth. And you said swap not buy. I wouldnt buy villa or torres, but i know id swap hernandez for either of them.

Really want him to start alongside Berba today, he only played 15mins in Valencia so he should be fit and raring to go. As I've said before his style of playing off the last man and making incisive runs makes him the ideal partner for Berbatov.

That's nit picking, you know exactly what I'm getting at.

That's the difference between you and me then, I wouldn't, I'm more than happy with what we've got, and the enjoyment I hope I'll get watching him progress.

Really? Its questionable how good Villa will be in future years. I feel he'll go down the Raul route, and Torres is a cluster feck of injuries. On the other hand, Chico is at the start of his career and has blinding pace matched by good ball control and fantastic finishing.
