No... no they're not. Di Maria is the only player I'd still say is world class because I'm hoping he's just had a one off bad season as he was immense in 13/14. The rest aren't "world class".

Just papers writing nonsense, Cillessen isn't leaving Ajax as he extended his contract and denied rumours to Manchester United. He's not the worst we could do but we can do a whole lot better. I think it's better for Cillessen to stay at Ajax too.
Cillessen would be far from first choice on my wish list, but i would rather sign him than Lloris for 25 - 30 million.
Actually in favour of us signing him over many of the other keepers we are being linked with. Haven't seen much of him tbh but his stats in that telegraph article look very impressive. He will probably never be the best keeper in the league but I would rather have a solid keeper for 10 years than have another De Gea situation with so much uncertainty.
I'd imagine that might be LvG's logic as well.

Isn't he good? Seemed decent at the World Cup.. Dutch number 1...why are people so against this. Who actually regularly watches Ajax games? Are people just put off by the fact he had to go off for a penalty shootout? As well as the fact he just looks weak.
Going Dutch can't be that bad given they made the semis without the services of one of their influential midfielders.
He was decent. Not exactly a penalty specialist, but not a bad keeper either.

I think it's wrong to assume that he'd be a backup to Valdes. My guess is he'd be the starter for PL games with Valdes getting the cups - at least until one or the other of them establishes a clear superiority.
Okay I'll rephrase because I can see you think these players are, we are selling our only player that is playing at a world class level in recent history. IMO Di Maria is the only one of those players that will reach a top level again, although I don't personally think Mata ever reached it, and certainly not at united

Cillessen is the first keeper for Holland, Ajax best player by a mile, having a very consistent seasom whilst being our best player almost every single match. Ajax has had the least goals against, while having a relatively poor defence. Who does that remind you of.

replacing the best gk in the world with him means we start next season with a worse team than this season imo, and we are 'going for the title'

you tell me? I'm saying we'll be a worse team net next year if we take such a huge step down on gk imo. we might improve rb/cb, but de gea won us at least 10 pts last year and in reality even more.
If De Gea leaves we'll be weaker in that position (assuming that we can't sign Neuer).
I like - and rate - Cillessen a lot, so I would be quite happy if we go for him. Saying that, I would prefer Lloris or Leno. Considering that he'll cost a lot, I doubt that we're going to sign him, he's not a big (if any) upgrade on Valdez. But I won't complain if we sign him. He's a very good and reliable keeper. Despite that he looks like a cute teenage girl.
I like him too, I'm just concerned that people are going to pile the pressure on LVG to win the title, and selling our best player by miles and doing that won't be easy, and maybe won't be possible
Neuer plays at Bayern and after de Gea we will only go worse tbf. I prefer to keep him for another year and then let him go to Madrid free. But there arent much solid goalkeepers around, our 3 best options are Lloris, Leno and Cillessen imo.
Neuer and Courtois aren't available so whoever we get to replace DDG is going to be a step down. That's just something we have to accept. The key will be making the rest of the team stronger so that a keeper of DDG's abilities isn't an absolute necessity like it has been for the past couple of seasons.
He is no better than Valdes, either Valdes is a starter in which case Cillessen is coming as backup or we better be looking elsewhere for a better no1.

Thats actually a pretty good compilation.
Some of those saves are "point blank" saves.
I also agree with your statement that the Ajax defence is as bad as ours, so he is already used to coming under bombardment from opposition strikers.
I cant help feel that Valdes will struggle when he plays behind our weak defence - something that he was not used to when he played for Barca.
Personally, I am not convinced by Valdes or the Ajax GK.

LvG's not an idiot, he'll know full well Valdes wont cut it in the PL.
He'll be fine.
No he wont, he's a complete liability with anything in the air, totally unsuited to the PL and will end any title challenge before it begins.
Talk about an exaggeration. He's better then Lloris for a start, and he's most people's wet dream on here.
