Jarrad Branthwaite

Branthwaite is not at all consistent though.

Just not true. You admitted earlier in the summer you haven't seen him play much so how on earth would you know if he is or isn't consistent!?

With Maguire and Lindelof likely leaving and Evans being old, I think that leaves us with three first team CB's, unless I am missing someone? Getting him in makes sense, both for the now and with an eye to the future

Complain about lack of money and then target overpriced english players. Makes sense.

"Overpriced" depends on the price. We already walked away last summer when it reached a certain price point, so obviously we're not desperate enough to overpay.

But a 22 year old English CB with his quality, physicality and two-footedness should cost quite a bit of money.

Can't dribble. Can't pass. Struggles being turned. Goes to ground too much. Too expensive. Other than that sounds good

Would much rather Inacio for that LB spot since he will know the system and more importantly will be considerably cheaper than £70m.

If there is limited money to spend then it seems a bit daft to spend it on another centre back especially in January!

He only signed a new contract with them last October so saying he's refusing to sign another new one is irrelevant anyway.

Would prefer Man Utd to replace Maguire with Diomande and wait with Branthwaite.

A) Need to see him stay fit. I also think it would do him good to play more football before signing for Man Utd.
B) We still have Luke Shaw on a contract til 2027. It is cheaper to get rid if we can make use of him one more year.
C) Branthwaite contracts too expire in 2027. Signing him summer of 2026 give us a bit more leverage.

The urgency is probably because we have projected our future homegrown quota and also are aware of the limited number of options.

This is what we disagree on, I don't see his quality being anywhere near even the bottom end of what we bid for him last summer.

Reports saying we'll have to opperate on a smaller budget and immediately after saying we're interested on a british CB for whom Everton asked 80M last summer. You cant make this up.

We urgently need a striker and fullbacks, I don't thik we're going to spend big on CBs specially in january. We have Lisandro/Shaw for the LCB, De Ligt/Maguire for CB and Yoro/Evans/Lindelof for RCB.
