Januzaj | Confirmed: On Loan at Dortmund

It's good that there doesn't seem to be an option to buy involved. Hopefully the experience will help his development. Leaves us another attacker down though so maybe we are going to get someone in as well as Martial?

This seems like such a bad move.

We desperately need pace and creativity in our attack, everyone knows it and Van Gaal has mentioned it multiple times. So we get rid of someone who has both and can play in all four attacking positions. Why not try mixing it up instead of getting rid, there have been so many times already this season when Rooney has looked terrible upfront and Mata has been struggling for impact on the right and Januzaj didn't get a chance in either role. What's the logic?

And to top it off he's gone to team with an attack that looks better than ours! Hard to see him being given a lot of playing time at Dortmund.

this.

This better be just for his development and just for this year. If we let go of Januzaj, then Van Gaal is fecking with something that'll come to fruition after he's gone.

How is loaning him to the German league good for us? He needs premierleague experience.

I can see us selling him for £35mill next summer if he has a good season and we do too. Massive sell on clause etc. I expect the most we would commit to for now is a first option clause.

Hope to see Januzaj back here next season, but with the club not being able to carry passengers right now this is the right move for him. Hopefully would help him "sow his oates" elsewhere for a while so it gets it out of his system playing in the Bundesliga at least.

Official announcement on Dortmund's site has no mention of an option to buy. It says contract till Jun 30, 2016. Hope it is that way only and there is no option to buy for them. If it is just a loan, it is THE club I would have liked him to go to.

I think when they loaned Sahin they didn't mention whether or not they had a buy option for him either. IIrc it was only clear when Zorc said something like ("you can be sure we have our hands on the steering wheel on this one") during the press conference.

This is stupid. Unless we haven't secured a RW AND a STK than this deal is frigging stupid

He's 20 ffs.
At 18 he was starting 50% of your games, played 27 in all. At 19, he wasn't trusted enough. At 20 he's loaned out. You see where I'm going with this?

He's a top talent who should've been playing at your club, not loaned out for inexplicable reasons.

Don't really understand this, he would have got plenty of minutes here. LVG clearly doesn't rate him and has packed him off, I think he will do very well out there.

I hope to god we don't get any major injuries especially on the wings.

This just makes no sense unless we bring in somebody else (after Martial).

Rooney and Martial up front. Memphis and Young on the left. Herrera/Fellaini at 10, Mata on the right. That's ridiculously light. Ideally we could use Mata as the 10 and buy a right winger, and then maybe it'd be okay. But we have so few options on the wings and attacking midfield right now. Martial can play on the wing and probably will a decent amount, but it's still a lack of depth.

I'm failing to see how this is a good move for him. It's the beginning of the end of his United career, under Van Gaal at least. If LVG rated him at all there's no way he'd be going out under the current circumstances.

All this talk about van Gaal developing young players and giving them chances looks pretty stupid now. I doubt he'll see significantly more minutes there than he would here. Dortmund has a quality squad that is rolling right now.

We gave this guy the #11 shirt too.

Seriously cannot believe Van Gaal has done this. What an absolute knob.

If I could choose one foreign club to send Adnan on loan to Dortmund would be my choice. I can see him having a great season there and the fact that they have given him the no 9 shirt indicates that they see him as a potential starter.

It's a fecking stupid decision.

If Januzaj had never played for us and was currently at, say, Dortmund and became available, we would snap him up without a second's though in order to bolster our attacking options. In fact we would probably pay a ludicrous fee like we are for Martial.

I can't get my head around this.

Also, Surprised LVG also didn't think keeping him so he can take notes from the other stars on the team was a good idea, since you know that's a good way for players to develop according to the caf

Caf Logic.

This is the best bit of news I've heard today. Adnan needs game time and he's not good enough at the moment to play in the first XI. Hopefully he will come back stronger and more consistent. The rest of the day has really p*ssed me off. Completely underwhelmed.

Fully agree. Even if Januzaj hasn't really kicked on since his debut season. The problem is that since we struggle big time upfront, we heap a bigger responsibilty on the shoulders of the youngsters (Depay, Januzaj and perhaps Wilson). Despite eliminating the biggest problem (Rooney, Mata's lack of pace out wide and the same player being out of position) we instead go down the easy route and remove the youngsters and adequate backups.

Only a year ago he was deemed a (far) bigger talent than Martial. How quickly things change...

On the plus side, maybe getting away from Louis Van Gaal will let him play some football.

But obviously we need to clear out all of our attacking players bar Rooney, by any means necessary.

Wish LVG would get away from us.

He seems that he doesn't want to play with SAF's players and is swiftly getting rid of each and everyone of them. The only one he really elavated was Rooney who isn't in great terms with SAF

As long as it's just a loan, I have no problems with it. He's in a good environment with a very good coach. I'd rather the lad be there to improve his technique and decision making without the added pressure of the current United trying to keep ourselves in top four. In the Premier League he would never improve at this stage because all the emphasis on pace, power and all that. No technique is taken into account, and he needs to learn that properly. He can always get physically stronger, but learning good technique and decision making is key to his development.

Sad he's gone on loan, but there you have it.

I dont like it for the reason that if he excels there, which is very possible, Dortmund will make us an offer we cant refuse. They will secure CL football so can throw in some money for him.

Strange one but the good news is that Pereira might be rated higher than him and could actually feature more prominently this season than waiting in the reserves for an injury in the first team.

Reports saying there is no option to buy but more interesting no loan fee...... last time we did that we got a player in return

I am glad he is gone out on loan as I think he was stagnating under Van Gaal's stupid tactics. Would be livid if this is anything other than a year loan.

Do we have enough options in attack, though?

The management want instant results. He'll come back more ready to be a starter and hence trusted enough.
