January Transfer Window

I agree it's stupid to judge Fellaini already, but you say he's having to adapt to a new city when he's only had to move 30 miles down the road, it's hardly like he's moved to Mars.

Well, it's one of the things. And a minor at that. The most overwhelming thing is the size, and importance of the club. It definitely gets to some players.

He's not even moved, he lives in Hale and has done for the last couple of years. Seen him enjoying a trip to Tesco Altrincham on his lonesome plenty of times... but saying that, not since he's joined us

It's annoying for me as after looking and thinking about what players I would like us to sign. The obvious ones for me are Pogba and Ravel, our ex bloody players. With Sanchez now having a great season for Barca the chances of getting him have vanished. We have a strong strike force. If Hernandez leaves us then we have plenty of on loan or youth options we can bring in. Our defence looks fantastic. Just that midfield creativity we need to add. Now imagine if we brought back Pogba and Morrison to play alongside Janujaz. Now they all wouldn't start together to begin with but to me that has the looks of a midfield ready to dominate for years to come. The only other one I really like the look of is Will Hughes, whether he could hack it at a United level is a different matter.

fecking marksies now bitches.

As far as I can gather Lewandowski makes round 80k a week - and he seems to be Dortmund's top earner. Reus is on roughly 60k. Enough to buy yourself a pint or two on a Saturday night - but it's nothing really compared to what some of our lads make.*

* I can't vouch in any way for the accuracy of those figures - Bild is apparently the source.

Aye, the thing is, if you're looking at people doing the same job as you, or worse, and you see them on three times your salary, you're going to be a bit put out, regardless of whether you're on £80k p/w or not. These top players want to be given wages that reflect their statuses in the game.

Please no, not again.

"Today was time to say that I am here," Fabregas said. "I know the boss has a starting team in his head, and I am not in it. I played a good game against Celta, and then I was left out for most of the two games [against Espanyol and AC Milan], and that really messes you up. Today I wanted to vindicate myself so that does not happen again."

Moyes absolutely biggest mistake was to buy Fellaini for £27m. I like the guy but he's not a top 4 club player and his price tag is a joke.
I can't see us splashing out another £30-40m in the January window so let's stop dreaming about Fab or other quality AM.

I hope the fellaini transfer doesnt hamper our future business. He was one of our biggest signings ever so its possible it could have some implications.

Nothing for the muppets to get excited about and it's December tomorrow. No tweets and no supposed ITK's and the papers have no made up bollocks to get us excited as yet.

The Fellaini deal will in one way hamper our dealings, but we should have plenty leave over the next two windows and that should free up room on the wage bill and we have that 'warchest' remember!! We rarely go mental in the transfer market, but over the next two windows I expect our squad to look very different and especially the look of our first eleven! We need to do some quality business in and out and I think we will.I hate that prior to any window opening, we usually make public our need to be careful with our spending.Maybe after last summers 'no budget' claims we can finally hope for a reverse in what they say they'll do and what they actually do.

I doubt we'll buy in January but wit it being a World Cup year next summer is also going to be tricky, we'll needed to act fast once the season is over and maybe prep a big deal in January with a down payment.

I'm kind of excited by the Ryan Gauld rumours.

It would be very Manchester United to sign a young player and loan him back for the rest of the season. I assume that's what they'd do. Very smart.

As for January, I have a feeling we will spend at least £20m.

I know this could be an old screen shot, but apparently only valued at £70k.

I don't quite know what to say about that.

Ryan who?

The FM screenshot explains most things but just to add, he's supposed to be one of the biggest talents around. 17yr old, plays in Scotland and already playing for the NT too iirc. Even if we do go for him, its very long term so wouldnt impact our short term plans and targets.

It's probably just me with another one of my silly views but I wouldn't be surprised if Fellaini was a fall back option for missing out on Herrera.

I don't expect any major transfer if any at all in the January window. There is a lot less possibilities and quality players are rarely available at that time.

I reckon we'll get a left back (probably Baines) and maybe someone like Herrera (if we decide he's worth the cash). Basically, we'll improve the team but not as much as we really need. It'll be summertime before we can add the real quality we want, we'll see then whether we're able to do it or not.

I really wouldn't expect too much from the January window. If we're going to improve it'll be by getting more from the players currently at our disposal.

I don't think we'll get Herrera, I think Fellaini was the fall back option there.

That thought crossed my mind at the time too, though considering we also made a bid for Khedira it's possible Herrera was a fallback for Cesc and we were always going to signs someone like Fellaini/Khedira as well. To be honest a lot of what we did in the summer made little sense so it's fairly hard to figure out what our intentions were.

If we are going to sign a cm in January it'll be someone like Herrera, a player who isn't top class and we've been linked with before. I don't think there'll be any surprises this transfer window.

The January transfer window is vital. We need to strengthen otherwise I highly doubt we'll get 4th place. Our midfield is a shambles and with Carrick out it exposes it even more. I'm not expecting 3 world class players in January, of course not but we've got to buy. If we don't we can forget about going for world class players in the summer window because we just won't be able to attract them.

Even now getting to January performing the way we are I'm sure a lot of players wouldn't really press for a move at the moment unless they're playing for a poor club. We should target a LB and a CM. I feel we need a top class winger but I don't think we'll be getting one in the January window. I did see that rumour that Pedro may be available for 22m euros... if that's true we must at least try and sign him. A punt for Draxler in January? I expect we'll go in for Baines but I doubt he'll push for a move so I honestly think we may be in for the Sevilla LB.

As for a CM we should try and sign Witsel/Matic and/or Rakitic/Cabaye. Rakitic would be a bit of a gamble as would Cabaye but I feel we desperately need to freshen things up in midfield with at least one central midfielder in the January window. I would sell Anderson and Young but would only sell Young if we managed to bring in a winger. Oh and I'd put Zaha out on loan.

What are your thoughts?

Cabaye and Baines as short term solution, aye. We can't afford not to.

We should ride it out and do absolutely feck all if the right players arent available. Last thing we need is to spend 40m on players that will keep us where we are. a good deal for herrera is the best we can hope for. need to go all out and test the resolve of some top clubs next year and go for the very best.

I'd rather not sign more crap like Fellaini and be stuck with him. We need top class signings., not glorified mid-table players.

We'd be absolutely ripped off by other clubs because a) They charge the usual 'it's United' tax, and b) They know we're in a dire situation and are desperate.

Believe me I had/have the same thinking but there will be no point in waiting for the right players to come available if we miss out on the top 4. If we miss out on the top 4 those top class players that we were waiting to get just won't happen as they'll most likely not want to come. I'd rather sign someone like Cabaye (who I didn't want) and have him help United get into the top 4 than not sign him and miss out as I think it creates a bigger problem.

I don't want us to sign 'crap' or mid-table players but players that would generally improve our club. Yes we can try sign the top, top players in January and hope it pays off but it most likely won't. Cabaye would improve our midfield, of course there's other options out there and this is where our scouting team should earn their money but I'm not sure who else at the moment.
