Sometimes you do what is best for the player and that surely makes space for new addition as hard as it will be to sign someone in January, it's not impossible.

I don't know a great deal about Banega particularly, but on the general point I think we could do with a cnut in our team - RVP is probably the closest we have when he gets worked-up but otherwise we seem quite a "soft" collection, with many players losing all their confidence the second they botch a pass.
Annoying rumours of Matic returning to Chelsea.
He is already on the pitch and just scored. We usually make at least one change in midfield during the game. Even Padoin usually gets on as a sub, when one of Vidal, Marchisio, Pogba and Vidal is not available.
victor ibarbo sounds like a Moyes type attacker. Astori is on our radar according to some, and pnev is supposed to be watching Saul Niguez.

Astori is a CB and we're well stocked there irrespective on whether Vidic/Rio stay or leave.

We got Smalling, Evans and Jones. If we keep one between Vidic or Rio then we're set. Keane or Thorpe can act as cover if needed.

4 Centrebacks isn't enough for two positions, especially when we rely on two of them to cover for other positions.
Despite having Rio, Vidic, Smalling, Jones and Evans at our disposal this season, we had no centreback on the bench against Swansea this weekend and thankfully Rafael was back so Smalling wasn't needed at right back.
Against Swansea in the FA Cup we had no Centreback on the bench and eventually had to move Fletcher to right back as Smalling had already been moved centrally as Ferdinand had to come off with his knee injury.
If Ferdinand or Vidic are leaving, we need a reliable squad defender. I'd prefer another top youngster than a "squad" 25+ year old though.
